Chapter 39: The Opportunity

Cathy walked in with a few friends just in time to see Chloe cozying up to Quinn.

Seeing Quinn again, Cathy couldn’t take her eyes off him.

Last time at the mall, he was in casual clothes. But today, he’s rocking a suit, looking even more refined, like a noble prince from the 15th century. She couldn’t take her eyes off him.

Cathy thought, “Why is he with that bitch Chloe?”

As soon as Chloe walked away from Quinn, Cathy couldn’t wait to step forward.

“Hey, I’m Cathy!”

Cathy flashed a confident, proud smile and extended her hand toward him.

She thought, “I was the one who offered the handshake. He’s one lucky guy.”

Quinn’s gaze flicked to her face for just a second before darting

away.

Cathy saw him ignoring her, and her face darkened.

“Guess you didn’t know who I was last time. Let me introduce

myself. I’m part of the Shawn family, Michael’s cousin.”

Cathy thought, “I’m royalty. Chloe’s got nothing on me!”

He should be able to tell who’s stronger, right?

Quinn’s gaze turned icy.

He didn’t care who the person across from him was or whose sister she might be.

After Cathy last saw Quinn, she went back and dug into his background.

She knew he’d spent a few years abroad, and was a highly skilled, incredibly talented hacker.

Turns out, Michael’s got a project to follow up on. She heard a couple of days ago that Michael’s looking for a hacker to team up. with.

The first person that popped into Cathy’s mind was Quinn.

Not only would this give her more time with Quinn, but it would also help Michael.

“I know you’re a hacker. Paramount Airlines has a deal I think you’ll replace intriguing!”

“Thanks, but no thanks.”

Quinn gave a polite “thanks,” keeping it cool and respectful.

But Cathy couldn’t care less about his thanks; she only focused on his rejection.

She thought, “I made the first move, and he still turned me down?

“No way!”

“Paramount Airlines is the top company in the city, backed by the powerful Shawn family. Taking on this project will earn you more commission than ten gigs elsewhere. It’s your chance to shine!”

“Chloe hated Paramount Airlines, but she loathed the Shawn family even more.”

Quinn spoke slowly.

Cathy froze for a moment, stunned that he refused just because of Chloe.

Her expression momentarily slipped.

Cathy shricked, “What’s going on between you and Chloe? How’s your business tied up with her?”

Quinn clammed up.

Seeing Chloe come out of the bathroom, he walked straight towards her, completely ignoring Cathy standing in his way.

Cathy stomped her foot in frustration and stormed up to the VIP room on the second floor.

She spotted Michael lounging in his seat, and her anger flared up instantly.

Cathy shouted, “Michael, can you do something about Chloe?”

The Shawn family are regulars at the annual charity gala, showing up every year without fail.

Michael was no exception.

He set down his wine glass and calmly asked, “What’s up with her?”

Michael had no idea Chloe was here today.

In the past, whenever she had a party to attend, she’d text him in advance to see if he was free to go with her.

Cathy sneered, “She’s downstairs flirting with other men. Even if no one else knows she’s your wife, the Shawn family does. They’ll gossip about you behind your back!”

Michael frowned when Cathy mentioned Chloe was with another guy.

He thought, “So she didn’t tell me because she’s already got another guy.”

Michael stood up, ready to head downstairs.
