Chapter 70: The Gift
Chloe froze.
When did Michael bring her luggage back?
Did Candy really just let him grab his stuff and leave that easily?
Seeing Chloe stay silent, the servant didn’t dare to make a decision on their own and just stood there, waiting.
“When did these things get delivered?”
“This morning.”
Chloe was fuming.
Michael just couldn’t let her have it easy.
“Mrs. Shawn, I’ll move them to the master bedroom now.”
“Wait. Take those to the guest room.”
She had no clue what tricks Michael was up to this time, but she sure as hell wasn’t sharing a room with him!
The servant nodded.
Chloe walked into the living room and noticed a leather gift box on the coffee table.

She sat down and opened it, revealing a ruby necklace inside.

Chloe recognized the necklace. It was a piece she and Michael had seen at an auction before their messy divorce.
She instantly fell in love with the necklace, but it was a bit out of her budget, so she didn’t buy it.
Chloe didn’t dare to ask Michael to buy it for her, so she simply stopped thinking about it.
She never expected the necklace to reappear right in front of her.
Did he buy this for her?
The maid finished her tasks and noticed Chloe staring at the gift box. “Mrs. Shawn, Mr. Shawn seemed really happy when he left that box on the table. He probably knows you like it. Mr. Shawn really cares about you.”
Really?
If he cared about her, why did he wait until they were about to divorce to change?
Chloe glanced at the necklace, then set it back on the table without a second thought.
She had just put it down when the doorbell rang.

Chapter 70: The Gift
After a moment, Jennifer, Victoria, and Cathy walked in from outside.
Lately, Chloe’s been a whole new person, spreading the news about her marriage to Michael everywhere she goes.
The high society crowd is all mocking the Shawn family.
The biggest thing? A strange rumor started spreading that Michael had issues, which is why they still had no kids.
This brought disgrace to the Shawn family.
Jennifer knew Victoria didn’t scare Chloe. Instead, Chloe had talked back and laughed at them on the way.
Now she’s here with her crew to back up Victoria.
As Jennifer stepped inside, she immediately spotted Chloe lounging on the couch.
She sneered and said, “Don’t you even know how to greet a guest?”
Chloe smirked, feeling a wave of disdain.
She didn’t greet them, but they came in anyway!
“Morning, Ms. Shawn, Jennifer Shawn.”
She stood up and gave a half–hearted greeting.
Chapter 70: The Gift
“Hey, we just swung by to check on you guys and see how Michael’s doing with helping Cathy replace a job.”

Cathy majored in design and picked up a minor in literature- neither of which are exactly job magnets.
Fresh out of college and clueless, even with the Shawn family backing her, no company dared to put her in a key position.
Harvey had no say in the Swift family, and Cathy couldn’t secure a good position at Swift Group. Desperate, she turned to Michael for help.
Chloe raised an eyebrow at that.
