Chapter 1

Chapter 1

It was early summer. The last wish of our two children before they died was for our family of four to go to the sea.

But before leaving, the child’s father disappeared.

A pair of children passed away with regret.

I saw a photo of the two of them on Willow‘ s Instagram.

The caption is, “A special birthday, with a special person.” I packed my bags and decided to leave.

Jason cried and begged me to stay again.

Jason hated me.

He either didn’t like the two children I

gave birth to.”

As long as his sweetheart called him, he would travel thousands of miles to meet her.

But even I begged him,

he didn’t want to come to see his two children for the last time.

I returned home exhausted.

The house was brightly lit and I opened the door with joy.

I thought I would see my two children,

but only to replace Jason being pinned down on the couch by Willow.

They were very intimate.

My hopes were dashed and I felt lost in an instant.

Seeing me coming, Jason was a little flustered and pushed Willow away.

Eh.

I sneered.

The ink on the children’s death certificates had barely dried.

After missing for half a month, Jason came back.

He couldn’t wait to take the woman home.

Jason was ready for everything.

But I didn’t show any expression. I didn’t even look at them much.

I went upstairs and took down my packed luggage.

The house that I was ready to leave early in the morning was a wedding gift from Jason’s grandpa.

But Jason rarely set foot there.

Chapter 1

Mostly I lived there with my two children. I went downstairs quickly.

The two of them were talking on the couch.

The man who usually had a blank expression now showed tenderness. He would only be like this in front of Willow.

When facing me, there was only endless indifference.

They didn’t notice me,

As long as Willow was around, Jason would never have me in his eyes,

I was used to it.

The sound of the suitcase tires startled Jason.

He looked at me quietly, and said stiffly, “Melody, what are you doing?”

Willow also looked over and curled her lips, “Melody, I suffered a low blood sugar attack. We happened to be nearby, and Jason brought me here. Please don’t mind.” Hypoglycemia?

I saw Jason serving juice. He even peeled the candy and fed it into her mouth. Her lips touched his fingertips, and neither of them realized anything was wrong. I lowered my eyes and remembered that at the family dinner, I forgot to use the serving fork to pick up food for him.

He simply stopped eating.

The thought of this made me laugh.

Love and not love are very clear.

I said bitterly, “Let’s break up, Jason.”

Although we had two children.

There was also a half–finished wedding.

But we didn’t get a marriage certificate, so it couldn’t be considered a divorce.

Jason thought I was jealous of Willow, “Aren’t you tired of using these tricks all the time?”

“You know you can’t threaten me with your children, so you start using the engagement to pressure me?”

Because of my excessive mood swings during pregnancy, the twin boy and girl were born with illnesses.

Two years ago, one was diagnosed with ALS, and a year ago, another was diagnosed with polio.

The hospital issued critical illness notices again and again.

I signed until I was numb.

But the two children were very obedient, which made me worry–free. They never cried.

in pain in front of me and even comforted me,

They envied other children for having fathers.

I kept calling Jason, just hoping that they could have their father with them.

But Jason….

Never been there once.

It turned out that he thought I was using my children to gain sympathy.

I found it ridiculous.

After all, we have known each other for over ten years, and he thought of me like this? I wiped away my tears, unwilling to argue with him, “Whatever you think, I’m leaving.”

Willow said, “Jason, I heard that you were planning to take the two children to see the sea. Do you break the promise to spend my birthday with me? Melody must be unhappy…”

Jason said softly, “It’s not your fault. We can go to the sea anytime. But birthdays only come once a year.”

Hearing this, I sneered.

I ignored them and walked out.

Jason sensed something was wrong.

He stepped forward to stop me and said angrily, “You gonna ran away from home just because of this?”

When he saw my haggard face, he was stunned, “You’ve lost a lot of weight….”

I have had insomnia and dizziness recently.

I saw some concern in his eyes.

“I’ll ask my assistant to free up some time next week so that I can take the two kids to see the ocean, okay?”

Next week?

Marty and Lucy had not a next week.

If only he could put even a little bit of the thought he put into Willow into his child, he would not say such stupid things.

I slapped his outstretched hand away, “No need.

Jason looked at the red spot on the back of his hand in surprise.

He couldn’t have imagined that the person who used to be eager to get close to him

now would avoid him.

When he came to his senses, he wanted to catch up but was stopped by Willow.

“It’s all my fault, Jason. Although I knew the two kids were pretending to be sick, I still insisted on celebrating my birthday with you. Now Melody is mad at me. I really

shouldn’t have done that.”

Pretending… to be sick?

My mind went blank.

I slapped Willow at the time I realized what that meant.
