Chapter 11: He Wants a Child
Henry Jefferson gently set Giselle Lambert down on her feet.
When her feet touched the ground, a sharp pain made Giselle's legs buckle, and she quickly grabbed the countertop to steady herself.
Seeing her struggle, Henry let out a teasing Chaseckle. "Take the day off. I'll call in sick for you."
"It's all your fault, and Yatest you laugh," Giselle retorted, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.
"I'm sorry," he apologized earnestly.
"Unforgivable," she muttered through clenched teeth, her grip tightening on her toothbrush. She knew all too well that his apologies hinted at future boldness. She shoved him lightly. "Out, I need to freshen up.'

Her voice, soft and somewhat pleading, only melted his heart further.
He obediently exited and quietly shut the door behind him.
The moment he left, Giselle locked the door and retrieved a plastic bag from a disused pipe, hiding two remaining contraceptive pills.
Nervously, she popped one into her mouth and swallowed it dry before concealing the bag in a new hiding spot.
These were the birth control pills she had secreted away during her last confinement; luckily, they had remained undiscovered.
She could never carry Henry's child; that demon did not deserve such a gift!
Once her grandmother was safe, she vowed to escape this living hell.
"Are you done Yatest, baby? What's taking so long?" Henry's voice came from outside the door.
Ever vigilant since Giselle's last escape through the bathroom window, he kept a close eYates on her.
Giselle quickly finished up and opened the door, complaining, "With all these marks you left on my neck, how can I possibly go to school?" "Just wear them. Let everyone know you're mine."
Even as he said this, Henry pulled her into the walk-in closet and selected an outfit that covered the marks.
That morning at school, during a break, Giselle wrote an explanatory letter and handed it to a classmate to deliver to Chase Carter.
But soon after, the classmate returned with the letter.
"Chase has transferred schools," her classmate informed her.
Transferred?
Giselle was puzzled; why so sudden?
"Where did he go?" she inquired.

Her classmate shook their head. "I don't know."
With a sigh, Giselle tore up the letter and tossed it into the trash, ensuring that Henry's spies wouldn't discover it.
If Chase had transferred, so be it. She hoped he found a better future.
Her focus needed to be on her studies now; the semester was filled with international dance competitions, and her professor had recognized her extraordinary talent, encouraging her to compete as much as possible since the awards could significantly benefit her career.
Chase Carter's transfer had been orchestrated by Henry behind the scenes.
He hadn't coerced him; rather, he had presented Chase with an offer from Harvard Law School, which Chase had accepted immediately.
Thus, even first love was forsaken for a brighter future.
At three in the afternoon, Henry arrived at the school promptly, and Giselle, not daring to linger, went back to the villa with him.
No sooner had they arrived home than Henry ushered her into the bathroom.
Confused, Giselle wondered why Henry was acting so erratically today when she hadn't interacted with anyone else.
"Test it," Henry commanded, thrusting a pregnancy test kit into her hands.
Catching the kit, Giselle's hands trembled slightly, her reluctance clear. "How could I be pregnant already?"
"You doubt me?"
His look was clear-if she dared to voice doubt, he was ready to prove her wrong on the spot.
"I don't want to test."
She had been diligent with her birth control; how could she possibly be pregnant?
"I'll help you," he said, moving to undress her.
Panicked, she retreated. "I'll do it myself; just step out."
"I'll stand right here. Call me when you're done," he said, turning his back.
Giselle reluctantly proceeded, opened the test, and found one line.
Unsurprised, she handed the test to Henry.
He examined it, his brow furrowing in thought. He had never taken precautions and had always been thorough; why was there still no sign?
After dinner, intent on proving his virility, Henry pulled Giselle back to the bedroom.
Giselle was to compete in the Platinum Dance competition the next afternoon. She needed to be in top form to win, and tonight, she absolutely could not let him have his way.
