Chapter 44

Glenn Group was becoming unprofitable, but Woland Group was expanding. Thus, Elijah must haveWoland Group.

Compared to the entire company, Sienna’s trinkets were worth nothing.

“It is definitely in your right for you to ask for your mother’s belongings back. Now, Alice, stop throwinga tantrum. We will give them all back to you,” Elijah said. All anger had fled his face this time. In fact, hecurrently looked like a friendly and kind man.

When Alice saw that, she felt the urge to laugh. Everything was just as she expected. Looks like a goodshow was about to start.

With Elijah’s cooperation, things went smoothly. It was evident that he had said something significant, for Sophia handed over Sienna’s belongings even though she was still visibly pained by the idea.

Then, Amelia and Bethany angrily stomped back to their home. After a few trips, all of Sienna’sbelongings were gathered before Alice.

After counting them out, Alice happily announced, “Everyone, please think carefully before you inviteme next time. Please have a gift in mind before considering whether or not to invite me back. After all, there is a fee for every trip I make, and it would absolutely not be cheap.”

“Oh, I also hear that Uncle Elijah will be throwing a party to celebrate Grandfather’s 70th birthday nextmonth. I will be there. Uncle Elijah, Aunt Bethany, please have my appearance fee ready.”

“Why would we?” Bethany screeched.

“Why?” Alice slowly smiled at her. “Because I like it. Something terrible might happen if I am upset.”

Alice thereafter left after finishing her sentence. As she walked away, she languidly raised an arm andwaved back at them.

Everyone was beside themselves with anger.

Elijah watched as she walked away. “Idiot,” he said with a scoff. “Death is lurking ahead and yet shehappily strutted away. Let us see how long that joy can last. Soon, Woland Group will be mine.”

Immediately, glee shone on everyone’s faces. After all, everyone would benefit when Woland Groupwas Elijah’s.

When Alice left the mansion, a sinister grin spread across her lips.

The show was about to start.

Soon after Alice’s departure, the Wolands called for an ambulance. Sophia had fainted and requiredhospitalization.

Not long after her arrival at the hospital, she woke up. Subsequently, she was immediately interviewedby several reporters.

“Oh, that ungrateful grandchild. That devil!” She sobbed as tears rolled down her cheeks. “Why has thefamily been cursed with a devil? She started destroying everything as soon as she walked through thedoor. She even hit me!”

She pointed to the wound on her head. “Look at my head,” she said in a shrill voice. “Alice hit me onthe head with a stick. I am her grandmother—an old woman. How could she hit me? She wants medead!”

The wound on Sophia’s forehead was still bleeding. The blow seemed to have dealt quite a lot ofdamage.

“She charged into the house like a madman, a thief. She could not keep her hold over Woland Group,so she came home to steal from us. She wanted Glenn Group. If she were a capable businesswomanor manager, we would not mind giving her the company. However, she could not even manage theWoland Group well. Are we to let her destroy everything her parents had built up? Old Mrs. Wolandsaid no, so Alice hit her. She is nearly eighty years old! Alice is such a cruel woman,” Amelia added.

“I have never seen someone so disrespectful. How could she hit her own grandmother? She even stolea lot of Old Mrs. Woland’s belongings. She was worse than a beast.” Bethany’s words were evenharsher. She was still hurting over how much jewelry she had to give away.

Not long after, Elijah was also interviewed by some reporters at Glenn Group building lobby. “I neverthought Alice could be so lawless. I do not mind that she destroyed some stuff. I do not care that shetook some things from us. However, she hit my mother. That golf club swung straight at her forehead.”

“I am so ashamed,” he continued, shaking his head. “My brother died when she was a child, and Icould not raise her up to be a proper lady. She actually beat up an elder member of her family. In fact, she attacked her own grandmother. Old Mrs. Woland is nearly eighty as well…”

Elijah even led some reporters into Woland Residence to showcase the smashed remains Alice leftbehind.

Overnight, everyone on and off the internet was cursing out Alice.

‘Is Alice crazy? How could she hit her grandmother? She is nearly eighty years old. What kind of beastis Alice?’

‘Has she gone mad because she could not marry Bruce?’

‘No matter how angry she is, she cannot hit an old woman. Only beasts do that.’

‘She is worse than a beast. She is utterly inhumane!’

‘People who behave worse than animals should just die.’

‘Alice was once a fool, but now she is an evil menace.’

In society’s eyes, familial love and respect was the most important quality in a person. The fact thatAlice hit an elderly member of her family, more specifically her grandmother of nearly eighty years old,was an unforgivable sin.

No one could resist bashing her. In an instant, the internet was flooded with hate for her. Someoneeven doxed her, calling for her to be imprisoned for life.

Alice’s reputation went from bad to the absolute worst scum on earth. She was being treated worsethan a pest.

When Emma read the hateful comments online, she could not help but laugh aloud. “This is wonderful! This is better than we anticipated. This time, Alice is dead. No one can save her now. Anyway, she isan utter idiot. She would never be able to turn the tables at all.”

“You are so smart, Emma. This brilliant plan is all your idea.” Elijah gleefully grinned and pulled her intohis arms while his hands wandered.

Over the years, Emma had grown used to his behavior. Hence, she no longer struggled against it.Soon, they were writhing together.

When Archie read the comments online, he nearly flew into a fit of rage. “The Wolands are justdespicable! They want you dead. They are so cruel, inhumane, and shameless! Are they even yourfamily? Not even an enemy would do this to you.”

He would never believe Alice hit Sophia. He would rather die than believe that.

However, that was what Sophia claimed. Now, everyone believed her and was bashing Alice.

Sophia’s slanderous lie showed her intent to push Alice off the proverbial cliff.

He just could not understand why Sophia would do this to Alice. After all, Alice was her granddaughter, her eldest son’s child.

However, Alice merely glanced at him. Her gaze was as calm as could be.
