Chapter 6

For a split second, Billy was in a trance, but that didn’t stop him from driving. Since he was a hotelmember, the advanced barrier reacted quickly and rose. Just as the men had run away, he drove pastthem and out of the hotel. When the men had snapped back to their senses, they were dumbfoundedwhen they saw that the grenade was just spilling out white smoke and the car was already gone.

“Chief Jenkins, we didn’t stop them and let them get away,” one of the men reported truthfully.

“What? They have escaped?” Derek exclaimed in disbelief. “How did it happen?”

Just as he was talking, Ethan walked by him. When Ethan heard his words, he stopped and squintedhis eyes.

“The woman threw a grenade,” replied one of the men.

“Grenade? Why does she have a grenade? Did any one of you get hurt?” Derek was holding his breathas he had a serious expression. He was so nervous that his voice went high-pitched.

Who is Boss trying to catch? Why is there such a dangerous thing as a grenade?

However, Ethan only raised an eyebrow as he thought of something. How many items did she takefrom the masquerade party? She really does replace a use for these things!

“No…” As the caller spoke, he looked at the grenade that was still fuming and gulped subconsciously.“It’s a fake grenade.”

When Derek heard his words, he cursed aloud and shouted, “F*ck! You guys are being tricked by afake grenade?”

“It was fuming white smoke at that moment. Moreover, the woman talked as if she was aprofessional…” The man was distressed as he thought that he had been tricked.

However, Derek interrupted him while he was complaining and asked, “Which exit did they leave?”

“From the West exit.”

Then, Derek hung up angrily and looked at Ethan, saying, “They ran away from the West exit. Who isshe, Boss?”

However, Ethan always wanted to know who Alice was. Never did he expect that she would be able toleave the hotel even when he had set up so many barricades. Then, he recalled the cockiness in herwhen she left his room and felt that she had the right to act as such. However, even if she had escapedfrom the hotel, that didn’t mean that things were coming to an end.

At that moment, Ethan opened WhatsApp and sent a voice message to a three-person group that hehad formed temporarily. “It’s a Bentley, and the number plate is 666. They had just left from the Westexit at the underground parking lot.”

When he was chasing her down from the third floor, he ordered Liam and Caleb to stay outside thehotel and prepared to intercept anytime. Although he asked his men to close up all the exits, he stillhad to take precautions. Hence, it was true when people said that Ethan never gave his opponents away to live.

When Derek heard Ethan’s words, he was shocked and said, “You still have a plan, Boss? Are youtelling Caleb and Liam to catch her?”

With the capability of Caleb and Liam, it would be a piece of cake for them to stop someone. Thus, itwould be useless even if Alice had escaped from the hotel since Ethan would eventually get her.

“Is she being sent by someone, Boss? Did she steal anything important?” asked Derek. It was all hecould think of if Ethan had made such a huge scene just to catch a person.

“No.” A glint flashed across Ethan’s eyes as he spoke. Although he didn’t know who Alice was, heknew that her intentions had nothing to do with conspiracy.

Hearing his words, Derek was utterly curious and asked, “No? Why do you want her, then? What didshe do? Did she—” Before he could say anything more, he cut himself off when Ethan glared at him.He suppressed his curiosity when he felt that Ethan didn’t want to discuss it. Moreover, he could feel amurderous intent emitting from Ethan.

“Boss, we found out that the car belongs to Billy, so the dude who went with her must be Billy.” Derekdecided to ease the tension by talking about Billy instead of Alice. “I do understand Billy quite well. He’snot the helpful kind, so there must be some reasons behind his actions.”

“The fake grenade that she had used must be a tool from Keith’s masquerade party,” said Ethan.

At that moment, on the third floor, everyone was panicking when they saw the mess. “What should wedo, Mr. Rowland?”

Never did they expect that someone would dare to cause trouble at Keith’s masquerade party!

When Keith heard their words, he glanced at them faintly, and they saw that he didn’t seem to beangry. At that moment, someone breathed a sigh of relief when they saw that Keith wasn’t mad.

However, they knew that they were wrong when Keith’s voice sounded. “Find out who she is. You guysknow the consequences if you fail to do this,” demanded Keith.

Usually, Keith was the one who caused trouble for others. Never did he think that a woman wouldcause a stir for him.

At that moment, the room was silent, and no one dared to say a word. Everyone in Rodcaster knewthat Keith was not to be messed with. Otherwise, there would be hell to pay.

On the other hand, Billy was driving fast when he noticed a car chasing after him. The car’s speed wasincredible, and he was amazed by the driver’s driving skills.

That person is talented enough to be able to catch up to me.

Just as he was in thought, the car behind him sped up and tried to outrun him. Before he could speedup, he suddenly realized that a car had appeared at the crossroads in front of him, blocking his path.Hence, Billy could only hit the brake and stop the car.

At that moment, he was unhappy since he had promised Alice to run as far as he could. Initially, hethought he could drive a hundred miles before being caught. He didn’t expect them to catch up sosoon.

When Billy stopped, he rolled down the car window and looked at Liam, who had gotten out of thevehicle. Then, he smiled arrogantly and said, “Nice drive, dude. Do you race? Why don’t we have acompetition?”

As soon as Liam saw him, he widened his eyes and glanced at the inside of the car. After he hadlanded his eyes on the car trunk for two seconds, he dialed a number. “We have stopped the car, butthere is only a man in the car, and there is no sight of a woman. The car’s speed is 160. Copy that. Wehave locked on to the target at Lansier Road after forty-five minutes. In the meantime, we didn’t seeanyone get out of the car.”

While listening to his words, Billy didn’t feel too good. Judging by his words, I was being watched assoon as I left the hotel. However, I didn’t realize it. Luckily, Alice got out of the car when we left thehotel. Still, I feel like the man is trying to say something. Although I don’t understand what he is talkingabout since it feels like a riddle, I’m sure the person he is talking to knows it. As he thought about it, hewas starting to get worried about Alice.

On the other hand, Ethan squinted his eyes. “I got it.” The information that Liam gave was enough forEthan to determine when Alice left the car. Then, he said, “Check Billy’s background and look throughall… all the women he had acquaintances with.”

Beside him, Derek was in disbelief when he heard Ethan’s words. “What? Even Caleb and Liamhaven’t been able to catch her? Who exactly is she? Did they really fail and let her get away with it?”

However, Ethan was calm. He chuckled and said, “She can’t escape.”

Seeing that he was relaxed, Derek was confused. “What on earth is going on?”
