Chapter 339 The Orphanage
Perhaps it was due to the snow, I was in a good mood. I quickly changed into thick clothes and went downstairs, ready to go for a walk.
Mother and Alexander returned to the hall, where a steaming breakfast was prepared on the dining table. Watching me eat porridge, Alexander asked, "Are you going to the company today?"
I nodded, looking at him as I counter-questioned, "Aren't you going?"
He raised an eyebrow, "Don't expect me to work overtime on the weekend, I have plans."
I actually forgot, today is the weekend.
Thinking of this, I asked, "Are you going to the welfare home?"
Mother and Alexander nodded together, "Yes, are you going?"
I had forgotten that it was the weekend and I didn't have to go to the office. Plus, it was snowing, which put me in a good mood. Unconsciously, I remembered what Walter had told me before, that the wintersweet in the backyard of the old house had bloomed.
Seeing that I wasn't talking, the two of them didn't press me with questions. After eating breakfast and packing up, they left.
I had originally planned to go to the office, but the snow today was truly beautiful. I couldn't help but feel a bit playful, so I ended up joining my mother and Alexander, and left the house with them. On the car, seeing that the car was not going directly to the welfare home, I curiously asked, "Are we going anywhere else?"

Marjorie.
In no time, the car stopped outside a residential area, where Marjorie seemed to have been waiting for a while. She was dressed in a thick pink down jacket, her médium-length hair was tied up in a bun, looking young and playful, showing no signs of age.
Alexander was driving, with our mother in the passenger seat, naturally, Marjorie and I ended up in the back seat.
Seeing me, Marjorie was somewhat surprised, but she soon showed me a friendly smile.
I wasn't really familiar with her, so after returning her smile faintly, I
turned my gaze to the car window and zoned out.
Mother and Marjorie seemed quite close, chatting all the way. Occasionally, Alexander would join in their conversation. I couldn't get a word in, so naturally, I remained silent.
Halfway through, the cell phone rang. It was a text message from Walter.
I glanced down at the text message, [Not going to the company today? Got other things to do?]
At first, I didn't react. A few seconds later, I couldn't help but look back through the rear window. I saw two black cars following behind. Then I remembered, he said last night that he would arrange for bodyguards to follow me.
No wonder he knew so quickly that I wasn't going to the company today.

the text message and replied with one. [Hmm!] Then I closed the phone.
Alexander probably noticed the car behind as well, giving me a meaningful glance through the rearview mirror.
Unintentionally meeting his gaze, I glared back at him, warning him to shut up.
Noticing my interaction with Alexander, Marjorie looked at me with a soft smile and said, "Tabatha, you look much more beautiful than the last time I saw you."
I smiled and said, "Last time was quite embarrassing."
She gave a slight smile and said no more.
Welfare Home.
After getting off the car, Alexander and his mother began to move things from the trunk. The director of the welfare home came out to greet us, smiling and saying hello to us.
This was essentially my first time here. I might have come when I was very young, but it was so long ago that I've forgotten. This place is somewhat remote, and it seems that all the facilities have begun to age. It looks like it's been around for quite some time.
"First time here?" Alexander saw me looking around, presumably thinking I was curious, so he whispered in my ear.
I nodded, turned to look at him, "Do you come here often?"
He shrugged, his expression calm as he said, "I lived here for a few years when I was a child, and would come back when I was in school. After that, I went abroad to study and might come back once a year. However, I have been coming here occasionally recently."

I realized, so he had once lived here?
No wonder he seemed very familiar with the dean earlier.
"The children are still taking their nap now, they will wake up in a while. Come, follow me to the oflice, I'll pour you some water." The headmaster, a grandmother with slightly graying hair and appearing to be of advanced age, said to us with a smile.
Several people followed her around an old basketball court and later arrived at a building.
The environment here looked mottled, but all the necessary equipment was available. However, the equipment seemed a bit old and looked like it had been around for some years.
In the principal's office, after pouring a cup of hot water for each of us, the principal started chatting with us with a smile, mostly talking about the children here.
Some were deliberately left outside the welfare home and picked up, some were intentionally abandoned on the streets, unable to contact their parents, and some were due to parental accidents, without guardians, and could only come to the welfare home.
It had snowed outside, and I couldn't help but want to see the snow. Seeing me constantly looking at the scenery outside, my mother said helplessly, "Alright, wrap up your clothes tightly, you and Marjorie go out for a walk."
I couldn't help but feel a surge of joy, but I still suppressed my laughter as I left the office with Marjorie.
The snow was falling heavier, which I loved, so I couldn't help but stand in the snow, reaching out to catch the snowflakes while letting the fluffy white snowflakes fall on me.

Marjorie probably wasn't familiar with me, so after watching me play for a while, she left. I didn't have much to say to her either, so I just entertained myself.
"Tabatha." I heard a voice as I was crouching down to make a snowball. I turned around and saw a familiar petite figure. It was Olivia.
