Chapter 415 Couldn't Control Others' Fate

The man was covered in blood, his clothes tattered and torn. It was unclear how long he had been tortured. He was lying motionless on the ground, his face indistinguishable, his age unidentifiable. Despite his frailty, his figure was just discernible enough to identify him as male.

I struggled for a moment, the whip marks on my body were too heavy, causing me to break out in a cold sweat from the pain. It took me a while to sit up from the ground. I'm not a person who likes to meddle in other people's affairs, but the person lying not far away had been motionless for too long.

I couldn't help but frown, could it be... dead?

Thinking of this, I couldn't help but feel a jolt in my heart. If I were to die here, in this cold and damp place alone with a corpse, the mere thought was truly enough to send shivers down my spine. After hesitating for a moment, I crawled towards that person, wanting to see if they were dead or alive.

I moved to that person's side, turned him over, and under the dim light, I clearly saw his face. I was slightly taken aback. I had originally thought that he would be a young man, but I never thought that he would be an old man with an aged face. He was tall and if I hadn't seen his face, I would never have thought that he could be an old man.

I gently patted him, seeing no response and his face was exceptionally pale. I reached out to check his breath, and felt a slight breath. I couldn't help but breathe a sigh of relief, thank goodness, he wasn't dead.

"Old man!" I called out, but received no response, he showed no

reaction at all.

He had only a faint breath left, the environment here was harsh, and these people who had left him here were most likely not planning to care about whether he lived or died.

Unable to get out, I didn't know how long this person could hold on. Helpless, I could only crawl to the door and keep knocking on the door frame. I didn't know how long I had been knocking, but luckily, I heard footsteps. They were the hurried steps of someone rushing over.

Sure enough, after a short while, the door was pushed open from the outside. I didn't have time to see who came in, only noticing an extra pair of black trouser legs in front of me. Without much thought, I grabbed onto those trousers, my voice hoarse as I pleaded, "Please, save him, or give him some medicine, just don't let him die."

Saying so, I reached out and pointed at the old man lying motionless on the ground.

The person above me had remained silent, but I distinctly felt his movements pause. Sensing something was amiss, I looked up towards the owner of the trouser leg.

Suddenly, I met Sebastian's stunningly beautiful black eyes. As our eyes met, his face was filled with surprise and worry. A few seconds later, he crouched down and reached out to help me up. However, before he could touch me, he saw the whip marks and blood on my

arm.

His brows were furrowed, his thin lips tightly pressed together, his voice somewhat hoarse as he looked at me with guilt, "Ms. Conner, I'm sorry. I didn't know Miss Geraldine would trouble you. I apologize, I failed to protect you. I'll replace someone to treat your injuries

immediately."

Saying so, he had already helped me up, ready to take me away.

I casually held onto the door frame, didn't follow him out, but watched him and said, "I'm fine, I won't die, you try to save him, he's barely breathing."

Following my line of sight, Sebastian looked at the old man lying motionless on the ground. Seeing this, he furrowed his brows, paused, and said, "His life or death is none of your business."

I frowned, "He's a living person, what do you mean I don't have to care about his life or death? Are you really planning to just watch him die?"

Sebastian pursed his lips, seemingly having no intention of explaining too much about this person to me. He simply said to the person following him, "Go check, don't let him die."

After hearing his words, the man went in to see the person lying motionless on the ground.

Seeing this, I did let out a slight sigh of relief.

"Let's go, Ms. Conner, I'll take care of your wounds," Sebastian began, looking at my battered state. He hesitated several times before continuing, "If the master sees you like this, I'm afraid we..."
