Chapter 428
Chapter 428 Each Had Their Own Secrets
Seeing no trace of desolation on his face. I didn't specifically comfort him. Instead, I simply said, "When we return to our country, I will help you replace the best doctor to take a look at you. I'm sure they will be able to cure you."
He glanced at me, raising an eyebrow "Going back to the country?" After saying this, he couldn't help but give a bitter smile, "Can I still go back to the country in this state? That's rather wishful thinking." Seeing him so disheartened, I couldn't help but say, "Why are you indulging in fantasy? Why can't we return to our country? I..." At this point, I lowered my voice, looking at him and said, "As long as the police replace this and take care of it, we can go back to our country."
After listening to me, he looked at me, squinted slightly, and said, "Little girl, I haven't asked you yet, how did you get here?"
Having come this far, naturally, I didn't have anything to hide from him anymore. I told him everything, every single detail.
After hearing my words, he squinted slightly, sizing me up as he said, "Are you saying you were kidnapped? And you almost took Ezra's life?"
I nodded, having been here for so long that I was almost forgetting who I was. Taking a slight breath, I looked at Michael and gave a bitter smile, "I wasn't exactly brought here against my will. To be precise, I came voluntarily."
He was somewhat surprised, "Voluntarily?"
I nodded, recalling the past, and couldn't help but feel a bit

heartbroken.
Looking at my expression, Michael squinted slightly and said, “Judging by your look, it doesn't seem like you're here voluntarily. It's more like you're sacrificing yourself for someone else. Could it be that you're here out of necessity to save your loved one?"
Seeing his gossipy demeanor, I felt a bit embarrassed for a moment and gave a dry laugh, saying, "No matter how it came about, it's probably like this. By the way, I haven't asked you yet, I heard you've been lurking here for years looking for evidence of Mr. Butcher's crimes, have you found it? Also, why didn't he kill you, but let you stay here to suffer? Do you have some unspeakable secret about him?"
I had asked a series of questions, he pursed his lips, leaning against the iron gate, looking at me and said, "Is this your real purpose for
approaching me, young lady?"
This question did stump me, leaving me speechless for a moment. Helplessly, I said, "If you say so, then so be it. But even if you don't want to talk to me, I will still help you. And, I might as well tell you directly, I have already tried to contact the police back home. If all goes well, they might be able to replace this place before long. When that time comes, you can go back to your country."
His brow furrowed, he looked at me in surprise and asked, "Did you get in touch with the police back home?"
I nodded, seeing his surprise, I couldn't help but say, "You don't need to doubt, I have my ways."
He squinted his murky eyes, seemingly deep in thought, and said, "What does he want to do?" Clearly, he wasn't speaking to me.
I was confused, looking at him as I asked, "Hum? Who is he?"
He didn't speak, just slowly sat back down on the ground, looking up
at me and said, "Little girl, no matter what, I remind you, be very careful in everything you do, don't be careless."
I nodded, knowing he meant well, and said, "I will.”
Thinking that he hadn't told me anything, I couldn't help but say, "By the way, don't you really plan to tell me what kind of leverage you've gained over Mr. Butcher all these years?"
He looked at me, his expression particularly mysterious, and said, “I told you, it's not beneficial for you. If you really have the ability to take me back to my country, I will naturally explain everything to you in the future. If you can't, knowing some things may not necessarily be a good thing."
So mysterious?
Seeing this, I didn't ask anymore.
I had a few more words with him, then returned to my own yard. However, I didn't know if it was because of his words, but I felt something was off, yet I couldn't pinpoint what was wrong.
I couldn't figure it out, so naturally, I didn't think about it anymore.
Returning to the yard, I saw Sebastian. He and several strong men were standing respectfully outside the house. I approached, frowning and asked, "Why aren't you going in? Are you looking for me?" Sebastian saw me, smiled, didn't say anything, just pointed inside the
room.
I wasn't foolish, I knew it was Ezra as soon as I guessed.
I didn't want to see him, but this place was his territory, there was no escape. So, I just walked in.
In the room, the man's slender figure was leaning on the chair, languid and casual. His cool casual clothes added a touch of casualness to his already charming temperament. Hearing the noise, he opened his feigned sleeping dark eyes and looked at me.
Looking at me, he smiled, seemingly in a good mood, "I thought you didn't like it here, that you would stay in this house all the time, not going out."
Not wanting to waste words with him, I walked over and sat down on a chair to the side, silently watching him, waiting for him to explain his purpose.
Seeing me like this, he wasn't in a hurry, just casually asked, "Are you still accustomed to life here?"
I frowned, already feeling annoyed inside, "Are you here to make small talk with me?"
