Falling For The Girl I Bullied -
Chapter 47
Rose Parker’s P.O.V.
I looked around me at everyone present in the meeting room in Ethan’s school after Mr Stammers showed the whole footage of the incident. Everyone was shocked and speechless. To be honest, I felt that my heart almost jumped out of my mouth when those brats started hitting Ethan and Violet. Ethan was standing in front of Violet to save her and fought bravely but he was helpless in front of so many boys. I felt proud for what my son did but at the same time, I was pissed because those boys dared to act like a goon inside school. I looked at the boy, David, who was sitting with all other boys angrily.
He had lowered his head and all his friends were looking at him nervously. “It’s clear that they acted on their own and what David said earlier about Violet provoking him before he lost his temper was a lie. From what I could see, it was David who was trying to provoke my son there and who is this girl, Sia. What’s her role here?” I spoke in a firm tone after a short span of silence and asked the question while looking at David. He immediately looked up towards me with wide eyes in shock. “She is his girlfriend and she asked him to beat Violet because she refused to bring a water bottle for her during the practice”, one of his friends spoke immediately and blurted everything nervously.
David immediately glared at him and that boy looked at David with a stern face. “I am not going to sacrifice myself here because you wanted to be hero in front of your girl, David”, that boy said to David in a stern tone and David glared hard at him. “Yes, David… it’s you who asked us to go with you. You said that nothing would happen to us as Sia would take care of everything. Where is she?” another boy spoke this time and I could feel nervousness and hatred in his voice. “Silence boys”, the principal scolded them in a stern tone. I glared at the principal this time. “Where were you, Mr Johnson when this happened, huh? I am sure that Mr Stammers and Mrs Stone would have informed you right after that incident but no one mentioned your presence”, I asked him in a cold tone this time. He gulped hard and looked at me timidly.
I scoffed and looked at all the parents present in the meeting room including the parents of all those boys. “This is the first time that they did something like this. I request to forgive them this time. They are in their last year of school and this incident will ruin their career”, one of the parents spoke in a requesting tone this time. “Will you propose this if it’s your son in place of my son or that girl, huh? Would you say the same thing then, huh?” I asked him in a mocking tone and he looked at me helplessly. “We can understand you, Mrs Parker. None of us can see our child at that place but”, another parent who was a mother of one of those boys spoke this time and paused to take a breath.
“But? We should forgive them because it’s not your child who is beaten mercilessly, right? Your son can act like a hooligan just because they wanted to impress a girl but we should forgive them, right? That’s what you want to say, huh?” I taunted at her this time and she looked at her son angrily. “Forget about my son here for the time being. Will you forgive someone who tries to beat your daughter like that, huh?” I asked her once again and she lowered her head. “That girl”, I pointed towards the screen while standing on my spot now.
“She is a scholarship student who is also a brilliant student. As far as I came to know about her… she always helps other in their studies and is constantly bullied by most of the students including my son, especially that girl, Sia Bishop. Am I right, Mr Johnson?” I didn’t hesitate to include Ethan in all the bullies because he was also involved in bullying Violet earlier and asked Mr Johnson in a stern voice. “Uhhh… it.. it’s not li… like that, Mrs Parker”, Mr Johnson stuttered hard while speaking and I scoffed again. I took a deep breath and then looked at the boys who were looking pale in fear right now.
“I don’t know how many of you have daughters but I am concerned about the safety of the girls in school now. If the boys like them and the girl like Sia are free to act on their own will and are free to take this kind of severe actions just because someone refused to give him or her a water bottle, then I am sorry to say… but I want to report this to the police”, I said with a word of finality and every one snapped their heads towards me. Suddenly the door of the room opened and I saw Mr Bishop entering the room. “I am sorry for coming late everyone”, he immediately apologized to everyone in sincere tone. Mr Johnson immediately stood up and greeted him. I looked at Mr Johnson with pure hatred because of his boot-licking nature.
Mr Bishop looked at me and nodded to greet me. I also nodded once to greet him back and then looked at the others. The boys were now completely white in fear and David was looking at Mr Bishop as if he had seen a ghost. Mr Stammers walked to Mr Bishop and then told him something in his ears. Mr Stammers looked at him with wide eyes in surprise and then asked him something. “I am sorry everyone but I want to see the footage too. This is obviously a question of the security of our children here and I don’t want to skip any details. Sorry for troubling all of you once again”, he spoke in a calm and firm tone and I just scoffed again before sitting back to my chair.
Mr Stammers then replayed that footage once again and I just observed everyone’s reaction. Mr Marcus Bishop was a known figure in the business world and in the political world as well. He and my husband would compete each other for the position of Mayor in the next election. Though they were competitors, they had a friendly relationship. I also met him a few times during some parties and we worked a few time during our positions in the committee but I was more familiar with her wife Claire Bishop. She was a wonderful lady and that made me wondered about their daughter’s attitude in school. I saw Mr Bishop’s eyes widened in shock while watching the footage.
“What the hell was that?” he yelled right after Violet screamed in pain and fell down on the ground. All the boys gasped in fear. Mr Bishop snapped his head towards those boys angrily. Mr Bishop was also president of the disciplinary committee while I was the vice president. “What were you thinking when you attacked them, huh? Are you all are road-side goons, huh?” he asked them angrily and they trembled hard in fear. “It was Sia… w… who asked David…t… to..teach a lesson to Violet because she refused to give her a filled water bottle during the practice”, the same boy who told me this earlier spoke once again.
“She what?” Mr Bishop asked while shrinking his eyes in confusion. “He is right, Mr Bishop. Sia is David’s girlfriend and she asked David to teach Violet a lesson in front of us during the lunch break yesterday”, another boy supported the first boy and David glared at them furiously. Mr Bishop just looked at them dumbfounded. I felt sorry for him because it was clear that he had no idea about what his daughter was doing in the school. “This is not the first time that Sia asked someone to bully that girl, Mr Bishop. Sia is a constant bully and she always replaces the way to torment that girl, Violet Carter”, Mrs Stone spoke this time and told Mr Bishop about Sia.
There was complete silence in the room as Mr Bishop was now looking at Mrs Stone blankly. “Why didn’t anyone tell me about this earlier and who is Violet Carter”, he asked Mrs Stone after a while in a low tone. “This is because that girl, Violet Carter is an orphan and a scholarship student. As she has no background, they didn’t pay attention to what others are doing with her”, I spoke this time and Mr Bishop looked at me. “I am ashamed that my son is also a bully to her but he never did anything to her to harm her physically like this. I also came to know that a few days ago, Sia and some other girls tried to lock Violet in a closet only for fun. She got panic attack but they didn’t leave her. It was Mrs Stone who saved Violet back then”, I told him everything about that previous incident that Mrs Stone told me before the meeting.
“Is that so, Mrs Stone?” Mr Bishop asked her in a calm tone and she nodded with a sigh. There was silence in the room once again. Mr Bishop looked at Mr Johnson who was now pale in fear. “We will have another meeting right after this meeting about Sia and her behavior in this school, Mr Johnson”, Mr Bishop said to him and he just nodded in fear. I could say that Mr Bishop was infuriated right now but that was not my concern right now. “What are your opinion about the punishment for these boys, everyone?” he then asked everyone about their opinion and there was a murmur in the room. After that, all the parents of the boys once again requested to give another chance to the boys but other members requested for the punishment to set an example for another students.
I once again argued about not leaving them without any punishment and some parents supported my argument. Mr Bishop listened to everyone calmly and then looked at me in the end. “I am sure that voting is not an option here because it would create another mess for us. After listening to all of you, I also agreed that leaving them without any punishment will encourage other students to act recklessly but at the same time, it’s our responsibility also to replace a way so that their future will not be ruined by this incident and they also get their lessons. The students in school are using their parent’s influence to cover their mistakes and we can’t encourage this practice. Whether a scholarship student or not, the school is equally responsible for the safety of every student here. Personally, I am really disappointed to know that our kids are looking down on some of their classmates only because they are not on an equal status with them”, he paused and took a deep breath.
