Fated For Lycan's Luna -
Chapter 198
Chloe
We stared at the sight in shock and a flash of realization came over us as the puncture on the fogwall rapidly closed up.
“As you can see, we can only see the pathway for a few seconds then it will close again...” AlphaNador calmly exclaimed
Then from his large bag, he revealed a thick rope, heavy and long.
"We need to have one person, the most nimble among us to cross the thin pathway. Once hereaches the other side, he has to connect the rope so that all others will be guided. For I can onlyopen the fog wall here on the stable ground. The pathway is so thin that it would crumble once wetried to exert our energies while stepping on it.” Alpha Nador then explained.
Then he looked at us, asking with his eyes who among us would be the first to cross the path.
“I'll go...” Blake did not hesitate and immediately answered.
"Good!" Alpha Nador said as he tied the rope on Blake's waist and told him some instructions. Before he went, I held his hand and said in worry, “Be careful.”
Blake nodded with a reassuring look as he signaled Alpha Nador that he was ready.
Once again, Alpha Nador punctured the fog wall and revealed the very thin pathway connecting tothe other side of the cliff.
Surging with energy, Blake flashed and quickly entered the puncture. His figure quickly disappearedand only the tension on the rope became a sign that he was doing fine.
After a while, Alpha Nador stood while holding the other end of the rope and told everyone, “Thenext one should be light but also strong... he has to assist the Alpha to help others cross safely.”With that one by one crossed the cliff. Alpha Nador instructed everyone for their safety andeveryone followed.
When it was my turn, I held the thick rope in my heart and skipped a beat in fear and nervousness. That is because one of the people on the other side was many enough to carry the weight of oneperson, Alpha Nador no longer punctured the fog wall and we could only hold on to the ropetightly to feel where we should step.
Watching over others, I thought that the operation would be simple, but I underestimated the harshwinds that hit heavily in between the cliffs.
I let out a whimper, calling for helpp but my voice is drowned by the whistling of the wind and myvision was blocked by the thick dark fog.
“Chloe, are you ok? Just follow the rope and cling to it very well...” As if feeling my distress evenwhen he could not see me, Blake sent a mind link to check on me.
Just hearing his worried voice made me calm down a little. With that, I closed my eyes and let mysenses concentrate on my toes and hands. Clinging on the rope and feeling the pathway beneathmy feet, I set aside my mental image of the scary cliff and moved forward.
After a while, a warm embrace enveloped me and Blake's voice rang in my ears, “You did it Chloe..”Drained by all the distress, I collapsed in his arms and he led me to a safer place to rest. After awhile, the last person was able to cross and Alpha Nador continued to guide us to the place ofrefuge.
He led us to descend on the mountain explaining that the place that we were stepping into wasalready the refuge, but we had to go down on the other side to see the cliff's entrance.
In no time we finally arrived at the place, there were multiple entrances but the passageway that wetook was one at the foot of the cliff.
But before we could step into the entrance, we were met with spears and hostile glares...
Then several figures of men appeared from a distance, whose aura exuded an Alpha came. One ofthem shouted with a tone full of warning, “Alpha Nador, didn't you give your word and not let usfall to the enemy's hands? Why have you come here with men beside you?”
“Feel no threat towards me and my companions... like you, they were enemies of one man... Kain...They've come here to talk to you all...” Alpha Nador calmly asked.
“Nador, Oh, Nador... We knew that you had already been leashed by that madman Kain. How comeyou would come here so randomly and deliver men sharing the same enemy as ours?” The otherside replied fully not trusting Alpha Nador.
This situation, I understand. Without the trustworthiness of Alpha Nador's current status, we cannotgain the trust of the refugees. If Blake would reveal that he was the Lycan King of the Silver Pack itwould have been easy, however, I knew could not do that as of this moment.
As such, I finally decided and stepped forward, “If you could not trust Alpha Nador, then you couldperhaps trust me under the name of my pack and my late Father, The Red Moon Pack...”
"We came here not to become your enemies but to become your allies... If you still do not trust methen I have no choice but to ask you directly, Alpha Anon, to speak to them on my behalf.”
"Alpha Anon?” The other alphas muttered and looked in a certain direction.
In truth, I felt from the aura of the alpha’s a familiar person. That one who had promised to have apeace treaty with the Red Moon Pack for a hundred years in exchange for me giving him the herbflower that he needed. While I have no confidence that mentioning his name would make adifference, I gambled either way.
After a while, the Alphas talked to each other then finally they said,
Follow the sentries and come to meet us inside!”
