Fated To The Lycan Brothers -
Chapter 69
Third
Person
"Not going to lie, you may have outdid yourself here, Wes." Atlas said to his brother, who was grinning from ear to ear, proud of his accomplishment, which was to make the entire beach one big f*****g party to never be forgotten until the day they died.
Maybe even after that.
Wes turned his head to him. "Told you. That Ryder guy would be shitting his pants if he saw this."
Atlas shot Wes a glare. "Don't ever bring up that little s**t again."
He hated remembering him, but most of all, he hated remembering the way Suri made out with him as he stood there. Atlas knew he may have gone a little overboard with what he said to Suri back then, but he had no idea how pissed he would be seeing anyone else have a taste of her.
He quickly realized that he could no longer deny his feelings for her. She had grown in him. Slowly but surely, she managed to reach into the darkest corners of his heart and light it up, even if so dimly.
Atlas could keep lying to himself or to Suri that he did not want her. He wanted her so bad. Maybe even too much. But then again, was there really too much if it came to her? To him, it was more like nothing was ever enough.
He could spend hours with Suri and when it was over, he would want nothing more than to have to do it all over again. Even if it was just to stare at her, he was completely and utterly enamored. He didn't know why.
Or he did, but he could not wrap his head around its possibility.
But soon he will replace out.
No, they all will.
Just half an hour or something now and nothing in their life might ever be the same again.
"Jesus f**k, is that Devon with Destiny again? I thought he had broken up with her already. Why the hell is he walking up to us with her?" Wes said as his eyes followed Devon who was walking through the crowd. Destiny had his arm linked with Devon and she was smiling, laughing at everything Devon said even if it was really just about nothing.
She was utterly hypnotized by Devon Wolfe.
And while Devon never felt the same way, he did however care for her deeply. In the past few years that they had spent almost every waking moment together, somewhere along the line, he began to see her more.
But not exactly more. He always just saw her as this girl filled with potential, but her light dimmed down because of a tragedy he caused. It was because of this guilt that had made him stick to her, helping her, staying by her side for as long as she could get her light as bright as it was again before.
But Devon was finally trying to get past all that guilt because it was the only way for him to be able to finally let go of Destiny, too.
"Is that Emily behind them?"
Both Wes and Atlas squinted their eyes to see a clearer view. It was hard when the crowd was getting bigger, but alas, they were right. It was her.
Suddenly, it was a night of their pasts coming back to haunt them.
"No f*****g way. You haven't told her about it either? Jesus, Atlas. Both you and Devon need to get your s**t together. Are you guys sure you really want Suri because it's really not looking like that." Wes shook his head at his brother in disapproval. Atlas did not like the way he was looking at him and he quickly grabbed him by his neck since he wasn't wearing a shirt for him to pull on.
"You do not have the f*****g right to tell me what I feel about Suri. There is nobody else in this world that I want, but her, and Emily is just the past for me. She is nothing to me unlike Suri." Atlas exclaimed with steel in his voice and anger in his eyes. "Oh..."
His head snapped to the faint voice behind him and he was not expecting to see Emily standing right there, and it was obvious that she had heard everything that he said.
f**k, he thought to himself. This was really not how he wanted to break the news to her, but it was done, and all he could do now was to just get it over with.
Devon felt the same way. It was time that he stopped pretending this would all go away if he just ignored her. Ultimately, he realized that ignoring it would make things worse. "Destiny, I... have somebody else." He finally said it, and even he was surprised that it came out of him more clearly than he thought he could.
Destiny blinked at him once, twice, and then she just stared at him like he hadn't spoken english.
f**k, she was going to cry.
"Hey, don't cry, I-" She threw her drink in his face before he could even say anything else.
"You are a player just like Wesley!" She yelled before turning around and walking out.
"Wait, what the hell did I do?" Wes turned to them with an appalled expression.
Devon glanced at the random redhead that was practically attached to Wes' hip.
"Dude, she just came out of nowhere. I'm trying to kick her out, but I don't think she even speaks English." Wes explained and Devon laughed at his brother's odd predicament.
"I need to get cleaned up. Can't go up on stage soaking wet," he said.
"Why not? You're at a party. Everybody here is bound to get soaking wet sooner rather than later." Wes smirked and he knew what he was trying to insinuate.
He immediately thought of Suri and how wet she was earlier. More specifically, on him, and it was just that single thought that already made him feel turned on, his hardness quickly straining his beach shorts.
God damn, the effect she had on me, Devon thought. He f*****g loved it though, and he couldn't wait to replace out that she had been his mate all along. He couldn't wait... to claim her.
Only a few minutes from now. The time was ticking and he could feel his wolf that was resting somewhat beginning to gather energy.
He could feel it, and he was sure his brothers did, too.
He knows this is exactly what Keith was talking about back then. Amongst this many people, it might be difficult to contain themselves, that they might have to excuse themselves a little earlier than usual. When Atlas was done talking with Emily who left relatively calmer than Destiny, he turned to Wes and Devon with a somewhat troubled look.
"Is it just me or-"
"Yeah, no, it's not just you. I feel it, too. I think it's happening." Devon replied.
"f**k, already? That's a bit too early, isn't it? Damn it, does that mean we can't stay for the fireworks at our own party?" Wes groaned as he continued to try and pull out the arms wrapped around his waist. "Boys!"
The sound made all three brothers turn and it was Keith pushing through the crowd with the help of two guards around him.
"Keith? What's up?" Atlas' uneasiness increased at the sight of their father and he knew by the way his brows furrowed and his heavy breathing that something was amiss.
"Have you seen Suri? She said she was coming here."
All three of them glanced at each other in bewilderment.
"She said she was? We haven't seen her. We were- uh, preoccupied, but we were about to head out." Devon cleared his throat as he leaned closer to Keith.
"We feel it coming."
Keith's eyes widened in concern. "That is exactly why I told you that doing this wasn't a good idea!"
"Damn, okay, we know now, but at least nothing's happened yet. We just need to get out of here and replace an open field." Wes exclaimed before finally managing to pry the fingers of the redhead off of him and one of Keith's guards moved her away. "Wait, hold the f**k up. Suri. Where the hell is Suri? Did something happen to her?" Atlas stepped forward as he asked Keith with obvious worry in his tone.
Keith could not say anything else. He didn't know what to say.
"f**k," all three brothers said in unison.
"Let's just get out of this crowd first and then replace her. Come on. Hurry." Devon suggested and they all did as he said, pushing through the crowd until they finally reached the lobby.
Keith had pulled out his phone to track Suri's and her location popped up on the screen.
"We got this," Atlas said to Keith, stopping him from letting his guards take over.
"We need to do this," Devon added and Keith felt their determination to get to Suri.
He knew that there was nobody else here that would be better to replace and protect the girl he now considered as his own daughter, too.
"Go. Hurry. Bring her back safely."
They would.
Even if it was the last thing they could do, it would be exactly that - to bring her back home safely. They would gladly sacrifice themselves if they had to. Devon Wolfe
"You smell her, right?!" I asked Atlas and Wes who were leading the trail.
Wes was holding his phone in order to follow the location pin on the screen and we were getting close. I could sense it. Just as I could also sense something unsettling, and I didn't like it at all. "Yeah, and it's too strong to just be her scent. I think it's her blood." Atlas said and Wes cursed vividly.
I can't believe we let something bad happen to her. How could we have taken our eyes off of her? If anything bad happens to Suri, I don't think any of us would be able to forgive ourselves. "Don't overthink. We'll replace her safe and sound." Atlas said as if he read my thoughts.
We were all good at keeping ourselves leveled because if not, we would all just crumble if we let our thoughts get the best of us. But sometimes, one or the other gets a little lost.
This is why we all needed each other to keep the other grounded. This is why we're better as a team.
"Let me go!"
All our senses were heightened when we heard a familiar shout. It was her.
Suri! Thank the Goddess we found her!
"That's her! Let's go! We have-"
f**k. f**k!
No, no, no. Not now. Not f*****g now!
"I- I can't stop it! Atlas, Dev, I can't stop it!" Wes shouted in panic as his body began to shift into wolf form starting with his arms and then his legs.
Both Atlas and I were doing the same, too, unable to stop the urge to shift and the last time this happened was our first time getting our wolves. Needless to say, it did not end well for any of us.
This was what Keith was afraid of. What we were afraid of, too, but we kept denying it, hoping that if we did, it wouldn't come true.
But we couldn't fight it any longer. No matter if we tried to run away from it. It would always replace us.
The full moon was too strong and with our birthday coinciding with it, our Lycans were coming out whether we wanted it to or not. Loud growls erupted in the area, letting the trees around us shake.
Atlas and Wes have fully shifted and they were running towards where we heard Suri.
We had to save her. Even if it meant that she would see us.
The real us.
