Chapter 30: Shadows Unbound: A Journey to Bytrans City (Last Chapter)

Nisha's Point of View

The year is 20**, and the date is January 1st. We celebrated both the New Year and my birthday on the same day. In my life, a new year means new missions.

We've just arrived at Ottawa's Tomb. We can occupy this facility indefinitely now that Mr. Shon has left. There will be no more messes or turmoil.

"Nisha," The call of Daddy Truce had me distracted. When he smiled, I returned the smile.

"Dad," I finally said.

"How come you're not in there?" He inquired.

I sighed and averted my gaze once more. I was just outside the structure, rejoicing at the occasion. First, I'd like to take a deep breath of fresh air.

I see a lot of individuals out there who are quite busy. I can see their smiles without any difficulty. I felt relieved after witnessing what I did. It brings me joy to see them like that. I'm leaving Ottawa City, where everyone is friendly, and there isn't any issue.

Daddy Truce called me back, "Nisha." I blinked twice before moving my gaze away from him.

"All I want is some fresh air," I explained.

"I'm sorry, but I don't believe you. It's not by chance that I'm your father. Please tell me," he stated. When it comes to my father, I don't have much to lose. He notices everything, even the tiniest details. Is my justification still valid? I let out a sigh.

"I'd like to go to Bytrans City," I stated firmly, making my decision clear, and no one can overturn it. If they are unable to accompany me, I will travel alone.

"Are you sure?" Daddy Truce inquired, his voice tinged with skepticism.

"Yes," I replied confidently.

"Then I'll accompany you."

We turned to hear what he had to say. I saw Shawn with the others. My right brow raised in surprise.

"Shawn," I called out, trying to read his thoughts, but I was too exhausted to dive deep within to replace out what was going on in his head.

"Nobody is going to be able to stop me. I'm going to accompany you," he said resolutely, showing his determination to join me on my new life mission.

I heard Daddy Truce sigh, but my mind was focused on my partner, who was behaving like a devoted companion.

"I haven't been able to stop Nisha since then. So, I'm going to agree that Shawn will accompany you. We'll be following you. There are a lot of crimes in Bytrans City as well. So, if you don't have someone with you, I won't be okay," Daddy Truce remarked.

"We're coming too," the others chimed in, all expressing their willingness to join us on this journey.

There was nothing I could do about it, so I took a big breath. I simply nodded in agreement, and the chorus responds with a resounding 'yeah.'

We entered the room together, and Daddy Truce simply hugged me. Shawn wants to be with me, but he also realizes that I need to be with Daddy Truce because he won't be able to accompany me to Bytrans City.

When we entered, almost everyone was dancing. Their faces are beaming, and they don't seem to be able to stop themselves from having a good time. This has only just occurred.

I walked to the patio while they were mingling. My thoughts were wandering, and I had no idea what Bytrans had in store for me. My brother was also present. And defeating Mr. NO isn't easy. I'm sure he won't disturb while Ottawa City is still in chaos. He had more mayhem at Bytrans City. And, whether I like it or not, if there's chaos, I'm going to be affected. I know there isn't any agitation in my tiny finger just yet. I was also curious as to whether it was more chaotic here or there. But, whatever happens, I'm always prepared to fight.

"Penny for your musings?" Shawn's voice startled me, pulling me out of my deep thoughts. I hadn't noticed him approaching, lost in my own contemplation.

I turned to face him as he enveloped me in a warm hug, holding a glass of wine in his right hand. I averted my gaze for a moment before meeting his eyes.

"Are you familiar with Bytrans?" I asked, curious about his knowledge of the place.

"Not really. I hadn't planned on going there before," he responded, taking a sip of his wine.

"I'm sorry if I've dragged you into this ordeal. You don't have to come along if you don't want to," I said, feeling guilty for involving him in my problems. I knew I could handle myself, but I was uncertain about my ability to protect everyone, especially with Mr. NO lurking around. Finding out he wasn't the new organization's leader had eased my worries, but doubts remained.

"No, we're going to accompany you. I'm ready to defend you," he stated firmly, his determination unwavering. Despite my attempts to dissuade him, he seemed resolute in his decision.

Relenting, I simply nodded, grateful for his support. With Shawn by my side, perhaps facing the challenges ahead wouldn't be as daunting as I feared.

"What's in store for us," I grumbled, feeling overwhelmed by the uncertainty ahead.

"Daddy has a book about Bytrans City on his shelf. We could look it up and learn more about the place. Stop overthinking things. I'm here to stay, and I'm not going anywhere," Shawn reassured me, planting a tender kiss on my forehead. I closed my eyes, comforted by his presence.

We sat close together, watching the star in peaceful silence.

"This mayhem seems to have no end in sight," I mumbled to myself, feeling the weight of the impending challenges.

"Would you like to rest?" he asked softly, sensing my exhaustion. I nodded in response. "Alright, let's get you settled. I'm sure everyone will understand that you need some rest. I'll stay right beside you."

As we walked to the bedroom, Shawn bid farewell to the others, and they readily agreed to give us some space. They understood the toll the situation had taken on me, and my mind was too fatigued to process everything.

Once inside the room, Shawn gently laid me down and showered me with affectionate kisses on my forehead, nose, and lips.

"Take it easy. I'm here for you. I love you," he said, his caring words easing my worries.

"I love you too, Shawn," I murmured gratefully.

Exhaustion washed over me, and I couldn't help but drift off to sleep, feeling reassured by Shawn's attentiveness and loving presence.

As I dozed off, I couldn't help but wonder if my deep sleep would be plagued by nightmares or foreshadowing of the challenges ahead.

Would Bytrans City be a living hell? Only time would tell.
