I stood up so fast my head spun. Oak glanced my way. ‘I’ll tell him to go.’ He grunted and opened the door. Ash tumbled forward through the door, covered in blood. He seemed intoxicated as hell.

‘Good.’ Oak grunted. ‘If you weren’t so hurt I would have clocked you a new one!’ He gave me an apologetic look because he was about to let him in. I understood, this Ash could not be let loose on campus. He would get fired. He roughly grabbed Ash by his throat and dragged him towards his kitchen chairs. Ash hadn’t spotted me yet.

‘Don’t move!’ Oak was livid. He turned around and walked towards me. ‘You might want to go baby, he has been out in town to start fights. It might not be pretty.’ He kissed the top of my head in goodbye and I just stood there rooted to the spot.

‘Sweet cheeks.’ he had seen me now. He was glancing upwards through his blood streaked mane of white hair. Flinching when Oak slapped a wet towel over his face to clean his wounds.

‘Bastard.’ He grunted. ‘Sweet cheeks, we need to talk.’ He slurred and I just huffed.

‘Now we need to talk? What about Sunday huh?’ he was getting me riled up.

‘Lux.’ Oak stated dryly. ’We’ll see each other tomorrow, baby. Just go now.’

With balled fists I debated turning around on my heel or clocking Ash another one myself.

’See each other tomorrow, baby?’ Ash snapped at Oak. ‘What the fuck, brother?’

Oak roughly snatched up the alcohol and cleaned his cuts with it. Ash moaned in pain.

’None of your business anymore. Since you did that to our girl.’

Oak was defending me and it made me all gushy inside. Who would have thought… he was my biggest critic once upon a time.

‘You!’ he sprung upwards getting in Oak’s face, making the bottle crash in a million pieces. Octave barked. ‘You are the one who told me to stay away from her! And now! Look at the two of you!’

‘That was months ago Ash. It’s different now. Calm down.’

’I’m not! Did you touch her you bastard?’ he was now in Oak’s face, who got his serial killer face on. He was about to throw down. I could tell.

‘Stop it!’ I yelled. And stepped towards the two brothers fighting.

‘Touch her?’ Oak growled. ‘Like you touched her and left her after?’

Ash flinched as if he had been hit.

‘I didn’t mean…’ he was saying but I interrupted him. ‘I trusted you.’ I cried. Felt embarrassed and stormed out.

‘Lux!’ Oak yelled. But I was already bailing it. Nope, I’m out of here.

He intercepted me before I reached the door though.

‘Baby, don’t run away like this.’ He hugged me to his broad chest and I held on for dear life.

‘I got to go Oak. Take care of him.’ I didn’t want him to die somewhere. My rage didn’t go that far. I went to my dorm and cried the night away.
