Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life -
Chapter 1090
Henrik, naturally, didn't say no, and soon enough, the two grown-ups found themselves amidst a sea of kids, clinging to a carousel.
Lately, Flora had all the time in the world. The University of Maple Grove was on a break, and things with Kruiz were almost wrapped up. Now, she was just hanging around, waiting for the medical training base to kick into gear. So, there she was, lounging in bed, just counting down to the New Year.
"Hey, time to eat," Connor called out right on the dot at ten in the evening. Flora burrowed even deeper into her cozy cocoon, not wanting to budge. "I can't get up, it's too chilly." Outside, snow was piling up, but inside, the heater kept things toasty. Still, Flora was in no rush to leave her warm nest. "How about a kiss to motivate me?" she suggested with a playful wink. Chuckling, Connor leaned in and nibbled her lip. "Is that enough?" he teased.
"One more," Flora grinned mischievously. Connor obliged with another kiss, nearly sparking his morning fire, before giving her a gentle tap on the backside: "Food's getting cold."
Flora lingered a bit more before finally dragging herself out of bed. She picked up her phone from the nightstand and powered it on. Half an hour earlier, a message from Mr. Richard had come through.
"Flora, have you seen Kruiz? He's gone missing!"
Missing? Flora's brows knitted in concern. She quickly dialed back.

"What happened?" she demanded once the line connected. On the other end, Mr. Richard's voice was nearly drowned out by the noise: "Kruiz might've been kidnapped It's causing a big stir, and we still haven't pinned down his last whereabouts! Flora, if you're free,
could you swing by?"
Kruiz was part of the medical base, and disappearing in Austenberg was a serious matter. Despite Kruiz being a bit of a hassle, he'd always been decent to her. Flora got the address, threw on some clothes, and made her way over. Downstairs, Connor took one look at her worried face and knew something was up. He grabbed the car keys: "I'll drive you."
The whole situation with Kruiz had to be kept under wraps, so the hotel was on lockdown, barring any unauthorized access. Mr. Richard met Flora at the entrance. "This morning, the medical base crew went to check on Kruiz and found he was missing, likely snatched last night."
"Any luck on his location?" Flora asked, following him upstairs with a worried frown.

"Not yet, we're still digging," Mr. Richard replied. He had asked Flora to come because of her knack with computers, the computer science dean had been adamant about having her switch majors, saying she was a rare genius. In his desperation, Mr. Richard blurted out for her help, though now he wondered if it was a hasty move. After all, even top-notch national computer experts hadn't tracked down Kruiz yet. But something told him Flora might just have the edge.
By the time they reached the top floor, Kruiz's room was bustling. Mercenaries in uniform lined up, their presence commanding respect. "Flora, you made it!" Mr. Tanner exclaimed, clearly thrilled to see her. He'd been swamped since his return and hadn't had much chance to catch up with her. But there was no time for chit-chat; replaceing Kruiz was the pressing matter.
The national computer team was hard at work trying to trace Kruiz, and seeing Flora join the scene made them raise their eyebrows. The place was chaotic enough without adding a young woman to the mix. How could she possibly help?
