Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life -
Chapter 474
Flora squinted, not initially planning to hit the buzzer. The University of Maple Grove was already poised to win; there was no need for her to jump in. Quietly, she pressed the buzzer.
"It should be..."
Ivan and Brianna, staring at the four possible answers, hesitated. The question wasn't hard, but it was tricky; all four options seemed plausible, making it tough to choose.
"D."
Flora's somewhat aloof voice broke the tension.
"Flora, you..."
Brianna frowned, about to scold Flora for speaking up without certainty, but the host's voice interrupted.
"Correct answer! Another point for the University of Maple Grove team! Congratulations to the University of Maple Grove for advancing!"
"Holy smokes, we advanced!" Maddox screamed in excitement, "Oh my God! Wow, wow, wow..."
No wonder he was so thrilled; everyone had written them off from the start. Even they had believed it. But they won in the end!
"Flora! I'm bowing down to you! How are you so quick on the draw! We should've had you buzz in from the beginning!"
"Exactly! We might have even set a record!"
Maddox and the others surrounded Flora, their faces beaming with excitement. Truth be told, if it hadn't been for Flora, the University of Maple Grove might have lost. Not because of a lack of knowledge, but because they weren't fast enough. Embarrassing, to say the least.
Brianna watched silently from the sidelines. Even though she was reluctant to admit it, Flora had single-handedly turned the tide and secured victory for the University of Maple Grove. Given this, Brianna was unusually pleasant towards Flora. But she believed that in the next round, she would beat Flora!
The next round would test genuine knowledge, with questions set by the national computer association's top brass, tricky and difficult, leaving no room for lucky guesses. For someone like Flora, who couldn't even handle basic questions, nailing them would be a pipe dream!
Brianna chalked up Flora's correct answer in the buzzer round to sheer luck. A wild guess that happened to be right.
In the judges' panel, Aisha shared this view.
"That girl Flora is quick to buzz in, but it seems her knowledge is lacking... I didn't see her answer any questions... The next round is a written exam; I wonder how she'll do..." Aisha's voice was soft and gentle, but she secretly doubted Flora's true capability, thinking she was smart but lacking in substance.
"Ms. Aisha."
Jules suddenly called her. His voice was magnetic, cool with a hint of warmth, especially his eyes, veiled in mist, making Aisha's heart skip a beat as she turned to him, "Yes?" "Don't you think you talk too much?"
Aisha's face froze.
By the time all teams had finished, it was already half-past eleven. All contestants went to have lunch and rest, with the competition resuming at two in the afternoon. The organizers had arranged separate rest rooms for each university to take a break.
Mr. Jurado led Flora and her teammates to their rest room. No sooner had they entered than someone else walked in. Seeing the newcomer, Brianna's water bottle dropped to the floor with a thud. Her brain momentarily froze.
Jules?
Why was he here?
Ivan and the others were equally surprised; they hadn't expected Jules to show up.
"Chairman Jules." Mr. Jurado hurried forward to greet him.
"Don't be nervous, I'm just here to look around."
