Forgive us
Chapter Five

Third person POV

The Byrne brothers had just pulled up out the front of where Macey was living on campus. It was Friday morning at about 10 am. They left early in the morning to make it to the uni in the hopes of catching Macey before she had a class. They had no idea of her timetable. They knocked on the door but weren't allowed in the facility without being invited by someone who was staying there.

"Should we wait for her or go looking?" Tyler asked. "We will wait" Asher replied looking around the campus to see if he could spot his sister anywhere. He couldn't see the whole campus but what he could see didn't show any sign of his sister being there. Asher hoped he would be able to tell it was her and that she hadn't changed. He really wanted to see his 7-year-old baby sister who didn't know how harsh this world could be, but he knew that wasn't going to happen.

"Let's sit over there, one of us can go get coffee while we wait" Asher told his brothers. "I'll go," said Diesel before walking off, he wanted to prolong seeing his sister for as long as possible. He hasn't worked out how to tell her how sorry he was for what he had done.

"You realise we could be here a while?" Tyler asked his brother. "Yeh, I'm willing to wait" Asher told him to which Tyler just nodded his head. "How do you think she will react?" Tyler asked. "I honestly don't know" Asher replied. Asher hoped she would be happy to see us, him, but he doubted she would be. She had every right to hate them for what they did to her.

Macey was getting ready for the day. She had slept in as she had submitted her assessment when she got home from uni yesterday. All she had was one lecture and a tut today but then she had work tonight. She had packed some lunch for herself and got her work things ready so she didn't have to do it that afternoon. She would grab dinner at work during her break. She had no idea her brothers were waiting for her downstairs. She also called her phone carrier this morning and asked for a new number which was to remain private. She just had to pick up another SIM card on Monday and it would be done. She was determined not to let those people in her life again.

Macey headed out to get to her lecture and ran into one of the girls she worked with, Cherry, who offered a lift to work tonight but couldn't give her a lift back as she was going to be spending the night with her boyfriend. Macey didn't see her brother behind her. "Mace" Diesel whispered out, shocked that his little sister had grown up and was the exact replica of their mum.

Macey swung around, it couldn't be, why the hell had he come here? She wasn't going to let him beat her up again and this time, she was strong enough to fight back. Macey glared at the man in front of her. He looked so much like her father that it made her physically want to vomit. She looked him right in the eyes "Go to hell" she spat out before walking off.

Diesel was shocked she had spoken like that to him. Even when he was hurting her, she always tried to reason with him and speak to him like he meant something to her. This though, was cold and detached. He was devastated his sister had spoken like that to him but he couldn't blame her.

Diesel continued on his way back to his brothers with the coffee in hand. "What has got you shaken up?" Tyler asked. "I saw her" Diesel told his brothers. "What? Where? Why didn't you stop her?" Asher rushed out standing up and looking for Macey. How could he have missed seeing his sister? "She was with another girl talking about work. She stormed off. God, she looks like mum. She was so detached and didn't let me speak" Diesel told his brothers while shaking his head. Asher and Tyler patted Diesel on the back, they felt for him but couldn't blame Macey for hating them.

"What are we going to do now?" Tyler asked after they all stood there for a good 15 minutes searching around to try and spot Macey again. "We wait, I'm not leaving without seeing her," Asher told his brothers. "She hates me" Diesel whispered to himself. "She doesn't hate you, she hates what we all did" Tyler tried to reassure his brother. "No she really hates me, I could tell by the look in her eyes" Diesel replied. How could he have been so stupid to hurt his little sister the way he had? She was now a grown woman and didn't need anyone, but when he started hurting her, the look of betrayal she would give him when he would stop still showed she cared for him. Not now though and he had no one else to blame but himself.

Macey attended her lecture and her tut but didn't really pay attention. She was worried about what her arsehole of a brother was doing here. Why had Diesel turned up? Was he going to try to force her back by beating her? He had another thing coming if he thought she wouldn't fight back and she would have his arse thrown in jail if he ever touched her again. She was not the naive little girl anymore and here, Tyler wasn't at the closest police station so he wouldn't be able to make it all go away. This was her home, not theirs.

Macey headed home after her tut, she had an hour before her shift and had to get dressed. Cherry was picking her up at 4.45 pm out the front of her dorm and then they were heading to the bar. She needed the distraction of work to forget about her brother turning up. As she got closer to her dorm she felt eyes on her but couldn't work out who it was watching her.

Asher spotted his sister walking and he too was shocked. Macey was the spitting image of their mother and it took Asher's breath away. "She is just like mum" Asher spoke to his brothers. Tyler swung around looking for Macey and easily spotted the red hair. "Oh my god, she is grown" Tyler breathed out. He too was shocked seeing his baby sister. It was like he was seeing her for the first time, she was gorgeous and walked with confidence. He was ashamed that he had missed so much of her life when he chose not to be a brother and then when she took off. Did they really deserve to be back in her life? Did their father deserve to get a chance to see his daughter one last time?
