Forsaking the Years of Longing -
Forsaking Billionaire 62
Chapter
27
If it was all an act, why bother coming to her after three years, traveling across half the world, to perform again?
Linda lowered her gaze, a soft laugh escaping her lips.
"Ivan, are you here for the company?"
It was the most reasonable explanation she could think of for his dramatic display.
Hearing this, Ivan's tear-filled eyes widened in shock. He took two steps back, as if the
woman before him was no longer the Linda he knew.
Then, with urgency, he stepped forward again, reaching through the intricate carvings of the gate in an attempt to grasp the hem of her sweatshirt.
But Linda simply shifted slightly, avoiding his touch.
"Linda, I know I was wrong. I know I made so many mistakes before, but I won't ever do them again. Can you... can you come back to me? Just give me one more chance," Ivan pleaded, his voice trembling, his tone shattered with desperation.
A soft chuckle escaped Linda's lips, her smile as cold as a death sentence.
"Ivan, I gave you so many chances, but you chose to deceive me every time."
"If you had been honest when you stopped loving me and ended things cleanly, we wouldn't be in this pathetic situation now."
Her indifferent expression blurred in Ivan's tear-filled eyes.
He shook his head, fighting the waves of dull pain in his chest as he tried to defend himself.
"No, no... it's not like that."
"Linda, I love you... I've always loved you. You're the only one I've ever loved..."
"Really?"
Linda's light response, laced with biting sarcasm, cut through the air.
She lifted her chin slightly, looking at Ivan, and for the first time, truly saw him for who he
was.
"Ivan, your love is so cheap," she said, her tone cold and detached.
Só cheap.
Loving me while cheating on me.
Her eyes seemed cold enough to freeze over, and Ivan felt pierced by her gaze, trembling as
he withdrew his hand.
"Linda, we were together for nine years... don't you feel any regret?"
The nine years they had shared-perhaps it was the last thing he could cling to in hopes of swaying her.
But Linda's faint smile remained unwavering.
"Ivan, you're the one who betrayed me. If you don't regret it, why should I?"
"And besides, just because we were together for nine years, does that mean I owe you my whole life?"
"We were like-minded, we cared for each other, and that's why we came together. But when that changes, we should part ways."
Ivan opened his mouth to say something, but Linda cut him off firmly.
"You've managed to replace me here, so I assume you still haven't signed the divorce papers. I hope you'll do so soon, so we can both have our freedom back." Boom!
Thunder rolled, and dark clouds gathered in the sky above them.
