From Here to Ecstasy -
Chapter 114 - A Scream Of Fear
Dedicated to oddball, PenumbraMINE, and N.Y.O.B. You keep me rolling in laughter at times, but then again as I read your guesses it makes me think about the ending to my story. Thanks again.
Recap
Everyone in the court stood up and bowed to me. I was seriously wondering if they all lost their mind. “Royal Alpha King?” I turned towards Elder Wise. “I believe you are the best King we have ever had. Not only are you humble, but you are also kind and trustworthy. You put others before yourself. It’s what we have all been waiting for - even the ones who didn’t know what they needed or wanted agree.”
“Hear, hear,” several of the warriors stated, a smile on their faces.
Sonny’s POV
“Thank you, Elder Wise. Thank you, you all. I want to be a fair King, but I’m also not a pushover. I want to be as great as my parents are. I’m sure I picked up a few of their bad habits, but I’m sure I can change for the better,” I joked, making everyone laugh at my silly comments and my parent's stunned looks.
“I’m not sure whether to be proud or upset. That was the most backward compliment or put down. I’m not really sure,” my mom mumbled louder than she thought as everyone; laughed at her. She sent me a scowl and I shook my head.
“Family,” I said dramatically, causing more laughter and my mom to narrow her eyes at me.
“Yeah, family,” she muttered as she smiled at me, letting me know she wasn’t really mad at me.
“Let’s get to it. Guard Gerald, would you please bring in the next prisoners?” I asked as he jumped out of his seat and bowed to me.
“Yes, Royal Alpha King. I would love to bring out the next prisoners,” Gerald answered with a cheeky smile. I nodded and chuckled at him.
After a few minutes, I heard a loud crash and someone yelling. “Get your dirty hands off me! I didn’t do anything and no one can prove I did or didn’t!”
I looked over to Windy and watched her eyes light up with mirth. I knew she was going to have fun with these few pups. She smiled at me and looked at the doors to the hall.
My mom got up and went into the hall, a loud crash following her. “Get your ass into the court as you were told to. Did you think the Royal Alpha wasn’t going to hear you or know if you tried to run away? Stupid, use your brain instead of dying your hair. I do believe you have burnt a few, or a lot, of brain cells.”
I watched the look on everyone’s faces. They varied from terrified to mirth, a few were chuckling. My mom caught my attention from everyone’s faces as she dragged in a woman and sat her down hard, Gerald trailing after with a smile on his face as he pulled in two men. I hadn’t seen the need to chain her but I was wondering if we had made a mistake.
“Thank you, Alpha Summer and Gerald,” I told them as they bowed to me, my mom sitting behind the woman she had led into the court.
“Windy, why the hell is this bitch in my courtroom? I thought you had cleared her when you caught everyone,” I asked through our mind-link.
“Because I caught her conspiring with the other two men when I was walking down the hallway to get here. Ruby must have spelled her so it looked as if she only spelled her lightly. Damn, I am an idiot,” I huffed, slapping my forehead.
“No, you aren’t. Everyone makes mistakes, but let’s get back to the trial, okay?” I spoke softly through our mind-link. Hell, I make mistakes left and right, so she needs to forgive herself.
I narrowed my eyes at the woman who made up her mind that she wanted to kill my family. Windy, Ares, Kat, and I went through her mind, making sure any and all spells were broken. It looked as if I was staring her down for a while. She had no idea what we were doing. We broke every spell Ruby and someone else had put her under.
I looked her straight in the eyes as she flinched back. “Now, tell me why you are at the Royal castle?”
“To kill you and your Beta couple. But, I didn’t know you would replace your mate too, what an unexpected pleasure to know I could kill her, too,” she answered, slapping her hands on her face and looking at me in horror.
“Gotta love a truth spell, it tells you what is actually on the person’s heart. And, your heart is as black as the pits of hell. Why would you want to kill us? Why?
“Because we own this castle and the title of King should have gone to Dean, he’s a better leader than you! He would have let the skinwalkers stay here and help to protect us, make us stronger than we have ever been!” She yelled out to everyone in the room, damning herself even more. I felt movement behind me and turned quickly and, of course, saw my grandmother being held up by her neck by Kat.
I rolled my eyes and chuckled. “What brings you here, grandmother?” I asked, watching Kat’s eyes go wide, resulting in her removing her hand and bowing low to my grandmother.
My grandmother, the Moon Goddess, pulled Kat from bowing in front of her as she laughed. “You don’t have to bow to me, daughter, okay?” Kat didn’t say anything but she nodded her head, her eyes still wide.
I walked over and pulled her in my arms. “It’s okay. You didn’t know who was coming up behind you. It’s the reason Windy didn’t move. She wanted to see what you would do and if you would notice someone behind you.” I sighed. “Windy was testing you without letting me know at first.”
“I’m truly sorry,” my mate whispered.
“Honey, I accept your apology, but you were only protecting yourself. I’m very happy you are the Royal Alpha King’s mate. You are a great match for him.” She turned and looked at the girl glaring at her and trying to move in her seat. But, my mom had chained here to the table. “Now, for the reason I’m here.”
I watched as my grandmother walked towards the girl as she glared at her. I wasn’t sure what she was going to do but I watched carefully. I didn’t feel bad about the girl getting an eyeful of my grandmother. The girl didn’t believe in the Moon Goddess. I looked around and saw everyone bowing their heads except for the two men and the stupid woman. I spoke through the Royal mind-link, letting them know to rise.
“These three.” She pointed at the ones at the tables. “Have been taking people from the royal pack to the witches so they can kill them or turn them into skinwalkers. They didn’t care who they were. They took wolves from the age of thirteen to twenty-five. They have, in a way, killed hundreds of people from packs all over. Can you please do me a favor and judge them now? I would love them to meet someone,” my grandmother explained what was going on, my heart beating hard and my breathing became labored. I was thankful for Kat’s calming hand.
I smiled at my grandmother. “Oh, yes please, let’s let them meet them.” I smiled evilly at them as they ducked back in their chairs as much as they could. “We will need to take this outside.”
“No, dear, we can do this here. I will fix it back the way it was,” she told me.
My eyes jumped to her eyes. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to do it inside, but I knew there had to be a reason, so I nodded. “I need everyone to move to the sides of the outside walls. Believe me, you will not want to stand where you are.”
Kat and I took our steps down to the floor, Windy and Ares following as Ares questioned her on what was happening. I hoped she told him what was going to happen. I didn’t want him to pass out, not that I thought he would. I noticed everyone had moved as far as they could, hugging the wall with everything they had. I moved the tables to the hall, not wanting to tear up our furniture. The only people on the floor were the three wolves.
I looked up at the seats in the grandstand, making sure they weren’t walking around. I nodded my head and reached out to open the earth. I flipped my wrist and moved the palm of my hand up, watching the earth come up and then seeing the pits of hell. Kat clung to me as she shook, it was as if she thought I was a jungle gym and she wanted to climb high. I thought she knew what I was doing when she helped me with the spell. I pulled her close to my chest, trying to soothe her as I whispered over and over. I kept rocking her while I kissed her head.
I heard the three screaming as the shadow demons climbed out of the hole in the floor, but I didn’t understand why there were so many of them. They claimed the three quickly.
I heard someone else scream, a scream that made my whole body twitch.
A/N: Why yes, I was a meanie and left you on another cliffhanger, sorry, not so sorry. Lol.
