From Sneers to Cheers: Anthea’s Ascent ( Anthea ) -
Chapter 442
Two hours later, the yacht docked smoothly at the pier.
Sherman's car was parked in a nearby lot, and he offered to drive Anthea back home.
Soon enough, they arrived at the Yeager family's neighborhood.
Sherman's gaze fell on the rearview mirror.
Reflected in the mirror were two young people sipping on iced lattes.
Them again?
Sherman's brow furrowed slightly.
After getting out of the car, Anthea invited Sherman in for a cup of tea.
Sherman accepted politely.
In truth, there was nothing Anthea could request that Sherman could resist.
Following Anthea to the front door, she rang the bell.
The door was opened by Little White, "Welcome back, the universe's most beautiful Annie! Have you missed the universe's smartest Little White these past few days?" Anthea glanced awkwardly at Sherman, "This is our family's robot."
Sherman nodded slightly, his face calm, though internally he found the robot's manner of speaking eerily similar to Anthea's...
An illusion?
Little White immediately greeted Sherman, "Greetings, esteemed guest. I am the universe's smartest Little White, delighted to meet you."
"Hello." Sherman gave a slight nod.
Once inside, Little White busied itself pouring water for Sherman.
Sherman, sitting on the couch, looked up at Anthea, "Your robot's pretty smart. Is it a robotic butler?"
In the country, only butler-type robots were this intelligent.
"Not really!" Little White, carrying a glass of water, approached Sherman, "I'm just a humble vacuum robot!"
Anthea nodded, "Yep, just a vacuum robot."
Sherman: "???" Vacuum robots serve drinks and make small talk now?
After sitting for a while at the Yeager's, Sherman decided to leave.
Stepping outside, he saw the young couple from earlier standing by a gazebo, watching two elders play chess.
And their location offered a clear view of the Yeager family's window.
Sherman's frown deepened, and he sent a message on his phone.
Then he got into his car and drove away.
...
On the other side.
The Morris family.
These past few days, Rebecca had been juggling her tech blog tasks while keeping an eye on Anthea's movements. Something was off with Anthea. In her previous life, Anthea had been a nobody!
But now!
Not only had she stolen Rebecca's spot in the vlogging world, but she also snagged the top spot in the national high school exams!
If this continued, Anthea would surely eclipse her fame, taking everything that belonged to Rebecca.
"Has Alex Peterson made his move yet?" Rebecca asked her system.
Anthea was becoming uncontrollable. To eliminate her, they needed to employ Alex's demonic methods.
Only Alex could ensure Anthea's demise was as dreadful as possible!
Thinking about how Anthea died in her past life, Rebecca laughed out loud, feeling a surge of satisfaction. But something didn't sit right with her.
In her past life, it hadn't taken long after meeting Alex for him to turn on her.
Why, in this life, had Alex not made his move yet?
Was he playing a cat-and-mouse game with Anthea?
After all, Alex was a complete anomaly, sadistic and dark.
Blood and struggle excited him.
The system responded, "My recent check indicated that not only has Alex not made any moves, but be's also arranged for Anthea's
Лог
protection."
"Protection?" Rebecca frowned in disbelief, "Are you sure it's not surveillance?"
If Alex was arranging for Anthea's protection,
Then her past life wouldn't have ended so tragically!
Therefore, this couldn't be protection but surveillance!
The system continued, "I haven't detected any threat levels on these individuals, so it's protection, not surveillance."
"That's impossible!" Rebecca stood
up from her chair abruptly, "You
must have made a mistake! Alex is a
devil; he wouldn't kindly protect
Anthea! It has to be surveillance!"
Her past life had ended in tragedy; why should Anthea receive protection now?
It had to be a system error.
Maybe Alex was planning something big!
To make Anthea's end even more tragic.
"The system is infallible."
Rebecca retorted, "You've been wrong more than once, haven't you? Last time at the RealTimeFlow live event, you claimed my chess skills were unbeatable, yet I still lost to Anthea!"
