Chapter 24

Willow

“I will struggle, bleed, and even die to get you back, Willow. But there is no way that I will ever willingly let you go, mate…”

After being called his mate for the first time six years, Ceri was no longer under my control. All our past memories crushed the both of us under their wait to the point where I was able to break out of his possessive hold, give control to Ceir by shifting into my wolf, and run back to the packhouse. The guests had returned to their homes, but once I entered the packhouse I found Ella and Oran waiting there.

Ella stood up at the sight of Ceri, “Willow…can we talk?” she asked, but the mere glimpse of her raised pain in my heart as the pack members’ claim of her unavoidable marriage to Reuben burrowed a bleeding hole in my chest. Ignoring her like she was invisible, I passed by her, and climbed the stairs to my bedroom. Once I entered my room, I shifted back and closed the door behind before scumbling to tears.

His stubbornness in never letting me go was incinerating my soul, when he was the one that had not wanted to hold on to me that day six years ago. His obsession with redemption for the crimes that he had committed against me could never be undone. It was compounded by his oath to reclaim me when he was already going to be bound to another woman, which made my heart bleed. His confession of love and him asking me to let him love me, when we are going to reject each other, tore at my heart.

I closed my eyes and lay on the floor for hours until the night fell. My tears had long since dried but my heart and soul were as cold as the darkness in the sky. I had locked myself in this room not even wanting to face the memories of the day that I had recognized Reuben as my soulmate, then afterwards we had made love in that car. Slowly those precious memories mixed with my nightmares that had reared their ugly heads as my unexpected pregnancy burned my whole world down to cinders.

When the first rays of morning light filtered through the curtains, I got out of the bed and stood in front of the mirror inspecting myself. One thing was for certain I could not trust Reuben. Believing Reuben was just going to lead me to another heartbreak. I could not give him another chance or I was going to end up in the same pathetic condition I was in six years ago. I could not let my heart follow that forbidden path that was bound to end in rejection.

It was eight in the morning when I exited the packhouse with Wyatt and Lori. I had

dressed for the day and fed them on time so that everyone would be ready to drop them off at the shifters kindergarten.

“Lori, obey the teachers and remember to finish your food, okay?” I bent down slightly to k*ss both of my precious children that looked absolutely adorable in the morning. “Wyatt, look out for your sister in the kindergarten and no fighting, okay?” I reminded them again. I had started sending them to kindergarten today, thankfully there was no problem so far.

“Okay!” Both of them obediently nodded and k*ssed my checks. I smiled, leading both of them towards the car.

“Mommy, where is daddy?” Wyatt looked up at me while Lori was searching the yard for Reuben like always.

I was silent for a couple of seconds. I had not felt him in the next room the whole night so he had not returned to the packhouse last night. I replied in a casual tone, “I don’t know.”

Ceri made a few noises in my mind at the mention of Reuben. I had decided to return to my normal life and try to forget everything that had happened yesterday.

Just as I pulled out my car keys, a car parked in front of us. As the car window slid down Mia’s face came to view.

“Good morning,” she smiled at me as she got out of the car.

“Good morning,” I smiled back softly, she was studying my expression.

“Are you okay?” she asked worriedly. “Yesterday, you did not look so good when the Alpha… and you ran away…” she bit her l*p guiltily, “Actually, I wanted to come and visit you after that but I was hesitant since you could misinterpret my approach.”

“It’s okay, I am fine,” I nodded with an assuring smile. Since I had left my room that morning, I had noticed that everyone in the pack was slightly hesitant to approach me. It was obvious that no one wanted any contact with me to be misunderstood that they had a hidden agenda towards the Alpha’s soulmate. Of course none of them wanted to cross the line with Ella either, who remained Reuben’s fiancee. The people close to her obviously would not be comfortable with me.

“Willow…” she took my hand gently in hers. “I don’t know what is happening between the Alpha and you but trust me, your status as the Alpha’s soulmate or anything will not impact our friendship. If you want to talk about anything, I will always be here for you,”

she hugged me.

Her sincere words moved me, “Thank you,” I returned her hug.

I took a deep breath, feeling good to have a friend like Mia. We pulled away and I asked her, “How come you are here this early? If I am correct, you have told me that you just got a part-time job?”

“That’s why I am here. To start my part time job,” she remarked.

“Your part time job is here?” I was so confused.

She grinned, “Actually after we talked about kindergarten for our little Alphas, Alpha Reuben offered me a part time job driving them to kindergarten. So from now on I will be Wyatt and Lori’s personal driver!” She exclaimed happily, while I stood there shocked speechless.

I knew Mia’s father and brother worked as drivers for the high ranking wolves in the pack. However, Mia becoming my children’s driver took me by surprise. I was surely going to have to look for a driver for them since I was going to be busy working on fashion projects. Now that I was going to be handling my work from America. On top of that, I had to go to Wade Moon soon to drop the papers off with Alpha Benjamin. All of that made it really difficult for me to drive Wyatt and Lori to kindergarten everyday.

I just did not understand why Reuben suddenly hired a driver to take Wyatt and Lori to kindergarten? My brows frowned when the thought of him not wanting me to leave by myself with Wyatt and Lori from the pack crossed my mind. Did he suspect that I would run away? My frown deepened with doubt.

Noticing my silence, Mia hesitated, “Umm… I promise to drive them safely. Actually, I have been a driver for the pack for years but if you are still worried…”

“Oh don’t misunderstand,” I gasped at her discouraged face. “Actually, I am relieved that someone I know will be driving my children. I know your driving is wonderful. They are in safe hands, that’s all that matters to me,” I remarked.

“Thank you, then I will take them to school,” she happily opened the door for the children. “Oh… I completely forgot to tell you,” just as she was about to sit in the driver’s seat, she remembered something and turned to face me. “Actually, us pack members have decided to throw a welcome home party for you,” she grinned.

“For me?” I blinked.

“Yes, actually it was already decided before the Alpha asked us to join him for breakfast,

so don’t misinterpret anything that they are doing as something that was done after learning you are the Alpha’s soulmate,” she winked and sat in the car.

“I really don’t need a welcome party, Mia,” I protested.

“Please, don’t break our friend’s hearts, Willow. Well, this welcome home party is not only for you but also for our little Alphas too. I will inform you of the date soon,” she winked at me.

I chuckled and nodded. “Alright, drive safely.”

“Bye mommy,” Wyatt waved at me. I waved back to the two of them but suddenly I noticed Ella standing some distance away looking at me. As our eyes met, she tried to walk over to me but Ceri growled in my mind and I immediately looked away from her, focusing back on my children.

Ella stopped in her tracks, watching me waving to Wyatt and Lori, “Bye… bye daddy!!” Suddenly Lori shouted as she waved up at the packhouse. Confused, I tilted my head and glanced up at the packhouse where Reuben was standing in his office’s large window watching me.

It did not look like he was just standing there, he had been watching me from the beginning. When our eyes locked, the memory of last night flooded back into my mind all at once. My heartbeat quickened thinking about it. I tore my eyes away and walked towards the other side of the pack.

Reuben

I watched her leave just as I watched her cry all night through the window of her room. She had locked herself in her bedroom and I knew there was no way she was going to let me in. So I spent the entire night crouched in the large tree next to the packhouse where I could watch her.

Dex was a hot mess in my mind from the moment we felt her hatred. I clenched my fists at my sides, unable to hear what Oran was saying as he read a paper to me from the other side of the room.

That’s when the sound of door slamming broke into the relative calm of the room followed shortly by angry steps stomping up the stairs to my office, “Alpha Reuben!!” a man barked.

“Alpha Adam?” Oran frowned bitterly at the familiar face, “What the f uck do you think you are doing entering in the Alpha’s office like a rogue?!” he demanded.

“I have to act like a rogue when your Alpha is f ucking announcing some other woman is his soulmate and openly pursuing her when he is engaged to my niece!” he growled while staring at my back as I had not even glanced over my shoulder at him once.

Alpha Adam was Ella’s uncle and my father, Alpha Luis’s, best friend. After Ella’s parents’ untimely death, he had been managing Ella’s pack until she was able to take over the pack, which was meant to be very soon.

“Tell me what the f uck is going on, Alpha Reuben!” When he got no reply, Alpha Adam went wild. “While I was f cking overcome with the worry about protecting my pack. after the mysterious accident with the Silver Moon Pack, I suddenly learned that already have two childern and a f ucking soulmate. Not only that but they have been staying with you in your home where my Ella is supposed to live!”

Listening to him speak ill of Willow made me slowly turn towards him. His face was red and had turned ugly with his anger, “Don’t forget that the papers you put your thumbprint on five years ago were not a joke. Your marriage to Ella is unavoidable in every

way. You can’t act on your own, Alpha Reuben!” he growled as I slowly walked. towards my desk.

“Or?” I inquired as my fingers roamed among files and stationery.

He was taken aback for a second at the calm in my tone. He gritted his teeth knowing he could not do anything other than threaten me with words. He sucked in an angry breath and said, “Are you planning to disrespect your father’s decision for some random she-wolf, Alpha Reuben…”

Just as those words sl*pped from his l*ps, I grabbed a pen from my desk, slammed his head to my desk, pinning it there, and aimed the pen right in his eye.

“AHHHH….” Alpha Adam screamed in terror but the pen never punctured his eye. He opened his fearful eyes to replace the pen an inch away from his eye. “Alpha… Reu…. Reuben…” he stammered in horror as the side of his face that was pinned to the desk bled.

“You shouldn’t make the fatal mistake of thinking that I don’t f ucking know you also hand in that accident of five years ago, Alpha Adam,” I leaned down closet to his ear.

Adam’s eyes widened in shock as he broke out in a cold sweat. All these years, he had been mistaken in believing that I did not know his innovation the whole time that I had been locked up that year.

“I…I did not…do anything…Alpha….it was….your father…” when my father’s name fell on my ears, my sanity snapped. I clenched his hair harder then stabbed the pen into his

in

“I recognize your golden rimmed pen that Vin offered me to use to sign, Alpha Adam,” I whispered, watching his blood pour out of his cheek as he struggled in my grasp pain.

“Remember…” I yanked his head back and growled in his face, “Those f ucking papers can not stop me from being with my mate. That marriage may be undeniable because of those papers but that does not mean I will be forced to marry Ella. I will only allow Ella to save face in front of the pack since she is known as my fiance but that’s all. She can not have more than that and if you’re greedy for more than you can take back your niece back to your pack,” I let him go, pulling the pen out of his cheek.

Moaning in pain, he moved away from me at lightning speed and looked at me with red teary eyes, “Oh and one more thing. Don’t worry about being attacked and killed like the Silver Moon Pack. Just say another bad thing about my mate and see how quickly I wipe out your pack in an even more mysteriously brutal way, all before the real culprit has a chance.”
