Goodbye
Chapter 10

Part 10

In the end, Kelly not only failed to leave but was also detained. Turned out, her fingerprints were all over the crime scene, linking her to my murder and dismemberment case. Xander, upon receiving this news, grilled her overnight, squeezing every bit of information he could. Meanwhile, the task force made significant strides, gathering crucial evidence.

The next morning, after an exhausting night of interrogation, Xander emerged from the room to replace Steven waiting anxiously at the door. Steven, looking disheveled with red eyes and stubble, couldn’t wait to ask, “Did you replace out anything?”

Xander hesitated for a moment before saying, “Look, you’re kinda caught up in this mess, so I can’t spill the beans just yet. Let’s just hang tight and see how things shake out.”

As the other officers dispersed, Steven remained rooted to the spot, his expression a mix of confusion and anguish. He seemed to sense that something significant was unfolding, yet he was left in the dark.

I wished I could just tap Steven on the shoulder and say, “Hey, my dear husband, this rollercoaster’s still got a long way to go.”

Three days later, the whole mystery got cracked wide open. Just like Steven suspected, the culprit behind my gruesome demise was none other than a shady drug dealer who skipped town from Yorehaven. Turned out, there was a stolen loot stashed away in my bag. But I didn’t put it there. Nope, it was none other than Kelly who freshly returned to Cedonia. She invited me over for dinner and slyly slipped it into my bag while I was busy answering nature’s call. Oblivious me, I toted that package home, while Kelly was off celebrating her and Steven’s ten–year anniversary like she didn’t have a care in the world.

Walking back home, I was dragged into that forsaken factory and my screams were stifled by the hands covering my mouth and nose. After checking my bag, they accused me of being a snitch, but I was clueless about whatever they were rambling on about.

They tortured me relentlessly, slicing me open and yanking out organs, hoping to squeeze some information out of me. But I had nothing to spill. In a desperate attempt, I managed to send a cryptic audio message to my husband using my phone, despite the tape sealing my lips shut.

His response?

[Don’t think this will grab my attention. I won’t go home tonight, you stupid clown.]

I knew he was too busy celebrating his anniversary with Kelly to give a damn about my distress. As my body, blood and soul were ripped apart, I clung to a glimmer of hope, praying for a miracle. Looking back, I realized my husband, Steven, was probably cozying up to the same murderer who orchestrated my demise, completely oblivious to my agony.
