Chapter 1 Call Me Miss Burton After the Divorce

Chapter 1 Call Me Miss Burton After the Divorce

In a dimly lit room obscured by the night, a man and a woman were making intense love while making passionate moans.

Celia Burton got out of bed after the sex, looking a little exhausted, and grabbed a pen and some papers from the bedside table drawer. She then handed the file to the man.

Celia carefully opened her swollen lips and said softly, “You have an early business trip tomorrow, so please sign these papers now in case you forget.”

The file appeared to be ordinary but important, but two unusual words were written on the cover: “Divorce Agreement.”

Dominic Dawson arose from the bed, his chest marked by her nails, but his face maintained its usual calm and indifference. He quickly skimmed the agreement’s terms before signing his name.

“I will give you five hundred million dollars,” he said flatly.

Celia was stunned for a moment before responding. “There’s no need for that. We agreed from the start that I wouldn’t take anything from you.”

He replied coldly, “Your ten years are worth five hundred million dollars.”

Celia froze as the reality of how quickly ten years had passed dawned on her.

They got married back then because of circumstances beyond their control. She had arrived at his house at the age of fifteen and had soon engaged to him.

Dominic told her that they weren’t meant to be together the moment he saw her. He also said that if she wanted to stay with the Dawson family, she would have to sign an agreement with him, and she would have to leave after ten years.

They pretended to have a close and intimate relationship when they were in the presence of the Dawson family for ten years, but they were strangers to each other the rest of the time.

According to their agreement, she couldn’t be with him at the same time wherever he went.

And now, the ten–year agreement had come to an end, bringing everything to at

close.

Celia returned to reality, setting aside the divorce agreement and preparing to

take a bath. But just as she was about to get out of bed, he came up behind her and embraced her passionately, leading her back to bed.

Years of being together with him allowed Gelia to immediately understand Dominic’s intentions. “I’m tired,” she coquerishly sand as she wrapped her arms around his neck,” Can we just go to sleep”

“Let’s have one last time,” Dominic said as he bent down to kiss her lips, his ey

voice filled with tenderness.

Few women were able to resist his charm.

Celia lightly stroked his six–pack abs, thinking to herself, “Why not? Let’s enjoy it since it’s the last time.”

Dominic’s actions became even more daring as he seemed to sense her thoughts.

That night was exceptionally long.

Celia awoke the next day filled with remorse for what she had done the night

before.

Her entire body hurt as if a huge truck had run over it.

But she knew that it was the last time they would make love Celia noticed that the divorce papers were still on the table and that Dominic had signed them.

The phone rang at that precise moment, and it was Dominic’s assistant, Leon

Roberts.

“Mrs. Dawson, Mr. Dawson asked me to handle the divorce agreement. Are you available today?” Leon asked politely.

“Yes, I am. You can come over now,” Celia replied.

Celia spent an hour getting herself ready, then after packing her belongings, she sat on the couch waiting for Leon.

He soon arrived, holding another agreement in his hands.

As Dominic mentioned before, he said on the agreement that he would give her $500 million, and he signed his name to the new agreement.

“Mr. Dawson recommended that I have you sign this, so here it is,”

Celia gently smiled, “There’s no need for that. Let us stick to our original agreement. Can you please help us with notarization?”

Leon wondered in confusion, “Is she crazy? How could she not want the money?”

After being Dominic’s right–hand man for many years, Leon knew full well that Celia didn’t have a job. She had always stayed at home and rarely left the house.

He wondered how she would make ends meet apart from Dominic’s generosity.

“Mrs. Dawson, are you absolutely sure you won’t accept the money?” Unable to contain himself, he reminded her once again.

“We’ve already agreed on this, and it won’t change. By the way, please don’t call me Mrs. Dawson anymore. I’m Miss Burton now.”

Leon expected Celia to be hesitant to leave the house or to be overjoyed when she received the money. But he hadn’t expected her to be so composed and even already packed her luggage.

“Mrs…Miss Burton, you should reconsider. After all, this is a significant sum of

money.”

Coincidentally, Celia’s phone rang at that moment. She cast a glance at him and said, “There’s nothing for me to reconsider. I have other matters to attend to, so I’ll be leaving now.”

Celia left calmly with her suitcase, leaving Leon perplexed.

Not long after, Leon received a call from Dominic, the CEO.

“Is everything taken care of?”

Dominic’s tone was cold and indifferent, snapping Leon back to reality. Leon replied, “Almost.”

“If she doesn’t want to leave, just give her the house,” Dominic said after a brief pause. He continued, “After all, she’s been with me for ten years, and it wouldn’t hurt to give a bit more.”

Leon felt somewhat uncomfortable conveying the actual situation, but he still informed Dominic, “Miss Burton didn’t ask for anything.”

Dominic’s tone grew slightly colder as he remarked, “Miss Burton? You’ve changed how you address her quickly.”

“Miss Burton asked me to address her that way.”

Leon swallowed hard because he could tell Dominic wasn’t happy about the

change.

He expected Dominic to say something more, but when he rechecked his phone, he realized the call had already been dropped.

Meanwhile, Celia left the mansion and got into a car that was waiting for her. With a pleasant smile, the man in the car reached out and handed her the flowers. “Congratulations on achieving your goal and resuming your single life, my Boss.”

Celia kept a cold expression on her face as if it were her natural disposition. “Okay.”

The man was Ryan Palmer, who had worked for Celia undercover for many

years.

“We’re gonna hold a big party for you,”

to join us tonight?”

“I’m very busy.” She flatly refused.

Ryan said cautiously. “Are you available

“Oh, okay.” Ryan shrugged. “I figured you’d like it. After all, you didn’t show up to the party the day before you got married, so I assumed…”

His voice trailed off, curious in tone.

Celia glanced at him indifferently. “You’d better not mention my marriage again because all of that is now history. I just don’t like parties because I think they are a waste of time. It’s better for me to devote my time to something worthwhile.”

a

Ryan breathed a sigh of relief. “That’s perfect. I thought you’d gotten used to

those…”

Ryan quickly shut his mouth after realizing he had mentioned her marriage again.

In fact, his words didn’t bother Celia. After being with Dominic for a decade, she saw it as perfectly normal for her employee to bring him up in conversation.

However, she would no longer bring up Dominic’s name in the future.

Celia’s first contact with the Dawsons was merely to complete an important task.

She had nothing to reminisce about in the past now that the task had been completed.

The image of that cold and arrogant man flashed through Celia’s mind, and she chuckled lightly. At least he was good–looking and came from a noble

background, so she hadn’t lost out.
