Chapter 588

Kerri turned to Agnes and said, "Put your kiddo to bed."

Agnes laid Nocturne on the lower bunk and Kerri swiftly hooked him up to an IV.

As Agnes brushed her hand over Nocturne's head, she felt a slight relief.

Noticing Sprague approaching the bed, she asked, "Why is he always sleeping?"

Agnes replied, "He's sick."

Sprague said, as if to comfort Agnes, "Don't worry, he'll be right as rain when he wakes up. You can trust me, Ms. Agnes, I'll take care of him."

A warm feeling filled Agnes' heart as she gently touched Sprague's face.

Standing at the side, Kerri said, "I gotta go on duty now."

Agnes nodded.

Kerri left for the nearby duty room.

Nocturne was sound asleep.

A bit later, Sprague also climbed up to the upper bunk to sleep:-

Agnes got up and went to the nearby office.

It was three in the morning.

Kerri was a cardiac surgeon.

So unless there was an emergency surgery, she didn't have any patients.

Agnes walked over.

The two looked at each other.

Even after four years apart at Century Entertainment, there wasn't an ounce of unfamiliarity between them.

They both burst out laughing suddenly.

"Long time no see," they said almost simultaneously.

Agnes sat down in the chair next to Kerri and sighed, "A lot seems to have happened between you and Brayden Simonds after I left." When Agnes had left years ago, she had already told Kerri about it. All Agnes had said was that they didn't know when they'd see each other again after parting.

At that time, Kerri was well aware of her situation, she knew Agnes couldn't overcome her mental block to continue with Jared.

After the death of Agnes' father and the affairs with Laura and Beatrice, and the company, she was mentally exhausted.

Kerri understood her desire to leave and start fresh.

She even admired Agnes' decision and courage to leave everything behind.

But, Kerri didn't expect that Agnes was pregnant at that time.

Kerri asked, "Your child is Jared's, isn't it?"

Agnes replied jokingly, "Why does it have to be his?"

Kerri rolled her eyes at her, "He looks just like Jared."

Agnes frowned and replied, "I don't think my son looks particularly like him."

"I can't pinpoint the resemblance but overall, they look alike."

Agnes chuckled, "Sprague is Brayden's son, isn't he?"

Kerri also laughed, "How'd you figure it out?"

"Your son is a same image of Brayden. It's hard not to notice."

They both burst out laughing again.

But their laughter was tinged with a hint of unknown sadness.

Agnes knew that things didn't end well between Kerri and Brayden.

She was aware that the current Mrs. Simonds was the socialite Maisie Davies from her time in Manhattan.

If Brayden had remarried and Kerri was raising à son with the same last name as hers, the story behind it couldn't be rosy.

After all, they were in the Capital, and the Simonds family was in Willowbrook Town.

The two cities were far apart, and Agnes guessed that like her, Kerri left her hometown to escape her past.

Agnes asked, "Does Brayden know about Sprague?"

Kerri sighed and replied, "He knows. I've been moving from place to place with my son over the years, trying to avoid him. But he won't let go. He keeps troubling me, especially these days. I even had to move out of my apartment and stay in the hospital with Sprague every day."
