Jared spun around to grab the meds and got a glass of water.

Entering the room, he saw Agnes completely hidden under the covers, motionless.

As Jared gave Nocturne his meds, he took him to another bedroom.

He told Nocturne, "You should go to bed. You're sleeping alone here tonight, okay?"

Nocturne nodded, "Sir, did I trouble you earlier?"

Jared didn't expect Nocturne to be self-aware.

But all Jared could say was, "No, everything is fine."

He just wanted to get back to his room ASAP.

Nocturne suddenly asked curiously, "Was that lady just now your girlfriend?"

Jared thought for a moment, "She's my wife."

Nocturne nodded, "I see, sir, you should head back. Being with your wife is crucial."

Jared couldn't help but chuckle.

How does he always manage to say these things with such a straight face?

Who the hell taught him?

After tucking in Nocturne, Jared emerged from his room, switched off the light, and shut the door.

Then he returned to his room.

But upon entering, he found the bed was already empty.

There was a note on the pillow: "Forget about today."

Jared frowned, clutching the note in his hand.

Agnes, you come and go as you please, what do you take me for?

Agnes ran away the moment Jared left.

Thank god Nocturne came in to distract him.

Otherwise, Agnes couldn't even promise what would've happened just now.

Agnes drove off from Maplewood Manor, far away.

Her heart was still racing.

The air still smelled of Jared, and her fingertips still carried his warmth.

Agnes drove straight to Cedarwood Manor.

In the following days, Jared kept trying to replace out about Agnes.

He even went to the Pritchard family mansion personally.

But Agnes had disappeared out of the blue again, without a trace.

Jared started to wonder if Agnes was going down the same path as four years ago.

What bothered him was Agnes' attitude that night, that kiss she initiated.

What the hell was she trying to do?

Summer's parents didn't contact him either.

A few days ago, Kerri called, saying Summer's parents got caught up and couldn't get away.

After thinking for a few days, Jared got the picture.

The first time he met Summer, he was being followed by a bunch of men in black at the Empire International Hotel, his parents must be a big shot. Especially when he was giving Summer a bath these last few days.

He had a pendant around his neck, a bead.

Jared found it vaguely familiar.

Then he remembered, this bead seemed to have something to do with Reggie.

After investigating Reggie for so many years, Jared didn't expect Summer to have such a deep connection with the mob boss.

Kerri asked Jared to send Summer back or let her pick Summer up, but Jared rejected both.

If Summer is involved with Reggie, he wants to get to the bottom of it.

During the days when Agnes disappeared, she stayed in Cedarwood Manor.

Even Jared, capable as he is, wouldn't be able to replace her here.

In these days, Agnes just felt lost, because she didn't know what to do next.
