Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared) -
Chapter 654
Jared was left confused. What on earth was this woman up to?
After leaving Comfort Oasis Retirement Home, Agnes felt an unsettling sensation that wouldn't dissipate.
Luckily, Kearney had called just in time.
What on earth had gotten into her?
She was losing all sense of rationale in front of Jared.
Their current relationship, if something were to happen, would be nothing but a disaster.
Agnes purchased a plane ticket overnight and flew off to the Capital.
By the time she arrived, it was already midnight.
Phenix had arranged for her pick-up at the airport.
She was then directly taken to Eden Nights, the most popular night club in the Capital.
Actually, it was Reggie's business, and Phenix had been managing it all along.
Eden Nights was an exclusive night club, which meant ordinary people couldn't get in.
One had to apply for an annual membership, which required verification of the person's identity every year.
Only the powerful and wealthy were eligible.
The more exclusive it was, the more appealing it seemed to outsiders.
Of course, there were also whispers about the stunning, highly educated, and talented women who worked there.
Agnes had never been to this place before.
Upon entering, she found that the rumors were not unfounded.
Eden Nights was built on a hillside, with a dedicated winding road leading up.
From a distance, it looked like a beacon of light.
The light emanating from within did indeed have a heavenly allure, as portrayed by the rumors.
The interiors were not decked out in neon lights and garish colors.
Instead, the architecture was classy and vintage.
Agnes followed a path around various water features, finally reaching the tallest building in the center.
Once inside, she took an elevator to a private suite.
The server informed her, "Miss, please rest here for the night. Phenix is accompanying important guests and can't come over. She will visit you first thing in the morning." After a long journey, Agnes was exhausted.
Even if Phenix had arrived, she didn't have the strength to talk.
Agnes nodded and went inside.
The suite was spacious with meticulous details in its decor, surpassing even five-star hotels.
Agnes collapsed onto the bed and slept until dawn.
She was awakened by a knock at the door.
Agnes got up to answer it.
Leaning against the door, Phenix stood there looking glamorous, "Home-delivered sizzling entertainment by your Lone Temptress. Was it to your satisfaction, ma'am?" Agnes scratched her head, "Phenix, quit fooling around."
Phenix shot her a glance, straightened up and said, "You're no fun."
She then walked into the room, flicking her hair over her shoulder, "So, what do you think of this place? Beautiful scenery, a paradise on earth. Doesn't it feel like heaven?" Agnes spoke up, "It's very nice."
Phenix said, "Albert has always wanted to hand this place over to you. That way, I can focus on managing the underground casino. I'm tired of juggling both. My wrinkles are proof of that. How about it? Why not quit your job in the States and come help me here?"
Agnes shook her head, "I'm not good at this. You're more capable, Phenix."
Phenix sighed, "That's why you're Godfather's favorite."
Agnes could only offer a smile in response.
Phenix moved closer to Agnes and handed her a leather document bag, "This is what Kearney asked me to give you."
Agnes opened it.
It indeed contained what she was looking for.
The photos inside were evidence of Laura and the Thomas family's butler, Hammer, in an illicit affair.
