In a loud voice, Beatrice exclaimed, "Dad, have you lost your mind? You're going to kill mom!"

Beatrice had been part of the Thomas clan for many years, and had long since started calling Berlin dad.

Berlin had always been decent to his stepdaughter Beatrice.

After all, his biological daughter Valeria never treated him with much respect.

Beatrice, on the other hand, always managed to flatter him and keep him in good spirits.

But that was mostly for the sake of her mom, Laura.

Berlin scoffed, "Don't call me your dad. I'm not your father. You're just like your mother - deceitful and malicious. You even have the audacity to try and steal Valeria's fiancé. You're delusional." Beatrice was taken aback and upset by his sudden outburst.

But with Cilian Thomas not at home, Berlin was in charge and she didn't dare to retaliate.

Beatrice helped Laura up, "Mom, what on earth happened?"

Laura, clutching her throat, tried to defend herself, "Berlin, don't let others manipulate you. I didn't do the things they're accusing me of. Someone is trying to set me up."

Berlin dismissed her with a cold laugh, "I know exactly who you are. I thought that by giving you a title, and all the wealth and luxury you could want, you would settle down. But it seems your ambitions are larger than I thought, you actually dare to harm me."

"I didn't, I really didn't," Laura protested.

But Berlin was not in the mood to listen.

He made a phone call and soon a few security guards arrived.

Berlin ordered, "Keep an eye on Laura and Beatrice. They're not to leave their rooms."

The housemaid trembled in fear, confused about what was happening.

Berlin asked, "Where's Hammer?"

"Hammer's mother passed away. He went home to mourn," came the reply.

Berlin chuckled coldly, thinking, "Lucky you. Wait till you come back and see how I deal with you."

Berlin left again.

Laura finally managed to get up.

She moved to the mirror.

Berlin had been rough, leaving a red mark on her neck.

Beatrice had an inkling of what had happened and scolded, "Mom, I told you to break it off with that butler, but you wouldn't listen. Is a butler really worth all this? Now that dad has found out, what are we going to do?"

Beatrice thought it was absurd.

Her mother lost herself the title of Mrs. Thomas of the Thomas family over a butler.

Seeing how angry Berlin was earlier, and how he asked about Hammer, he must have found out about Laura's affair.

Laura replied coldly, "What do you know? Someone is trying to frame me. He said I tampered with his car, trying to cause an accident and kill him, but I didn't."

Beatrice was shocked, "So he had a car accident. But even if someone did tamper with his car, why would he suspect you?"

Because this was exactly how Preston died years ago.

He found Laura's affair, then a fatal car accident happened to him.

It's no wonder Berlin suspected her.

But Laura had many questions. First, her affair with Hammer was a secret, even the housemaids didn't know. Who else could know and tell Berlin? Also, Berlin was fine when they spoke on the phone yesterday, which means everything happened today.

Second, who tampered with Berlin's car, mimicking the same method that killed Preston?

Most importantly, only she and Berlin knew how Preston died. They covered their tracks perfectly back then. How did anyone else know and use the same method against them?
