Laura reached out, gripping Beatrice's hand tightly. "Bea, you've got to believe me. I've been framed. I didn't kill your father. It was Agnes, that evil witch, she set me up."

Beatrice's face gradually paled. "But all the media outlets are reporting on it. And those pieces of evidence..."

"Those were all fabricated by Agnes. Think about it, your father's been gone for four years. If I was guilty, why didn't Agnes accuse me four years ago? Why did she suddenly produce so much evidence after four years? She's been plotting this all along, and all those so-called witnesses were bribed by her."

A look of uncertainty flashed across Beatrice's face, but the evidence was overwhelming, and she could replace no flaws in it.

Laura clung to Beatrice's hand. "Sweetie, don't tell me you trust Agnes more than me?"

"I never trusted her. She's always been a snake."

"Agnes came prepared this time, that's clear. Look at all the chaos she's caused since she came back. She's out for revenge, Bea. You've got to believe me."

Of course, Beatrice would trust Laura over Agnes.

"Mom, I believe you. Agnes must be trying to frame us. But what do we do now? The verdict's out. What should we do?"

Beatrice was panicking.

She had always leaned on Laura for everything.

Now that Laura was sentenced, she felt like she had lost all her support.

There was already someone urging them from the outside.

Laura's time was up. But there was still so much she hadn't had the chance to say.

Laura held Beatrice's hand, whispering in her ear, "Find Hammer. He must come see me. I have something to tell him. He's the only one who can help us now."

Beatrice was suddenly angry. "Mom, how can you still be involved with that butler? Isn't all this his fault? And after the disaster in the Thomas family, he just disappeared. He has no backbone. He's a coward. Why would you want his help?"

Laura replied, "He's been secretly investigating Agnes for me. I can't contact him now. Bea, listen to me. Hammer is the only one we can trust. You have to replace him at the Elysian Hotel. Tell him he must replace a way to see me."

Beatrice had despised Hammer for four years, but if Laura insisted, she would do it.

She couldn't think of any other way.

Once she left the prison, Beatrice felt like the world was spinning around her.

In just a few days, everything had changed. And it was all because of Agnes.

Laura said Agnes had come back for revenge, but what kind of deep grudge could there be between Laura and Agnes?

A chill ran down Beatrice's spine. Could it be that she, Beatrice, was Agnes' target?

Did Agnes still hold a grudge over her attempt to run her over four years ago?

That made sense. The moment Agnes returned, she had ruined her birthday party and almost destroyed her reputation.

Then she brought down Laura, leaving her penniless and ostracized from the Thomas family.

So Agnes' real target wasn't Laura. It was Beatrice.

She was trying to shatter all of Beatrice's support, and then take her revenge?

The more Beatrice thought about it, the more uneasy she felt.

Now that Laura was in prison, was she Agnes' next target?
