Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared) -
Chapter 692
Beatrice seemed to border on madness. "What a joke, that's because I've never regretted anything, Agnes. You're relentless, aren't you? You came back just to get even with us, didn't you? I know you won't let me off, so as long as you're alive, I'll never have peace. Agnes, why does God always favor you? If you were gone, everyone else could be at peace. If you were gone, none of this would have happened. My mother wouldn't end up in jail, and I wouldn't end up like this. It's all because of you."
Beatrice's words grew more passionate as she spoke.
Her eyes were bloodshot, her face twisted in rage, as if she wanted to turn into a wild beast and pounce on Agnes.
Agnes looked at Beatrice, her face calm.
Agnes spoke coldly, "Beatrice, these are just excuses your greedy and selfish nature came up with. Why did your mother end up in jail? Because she's ruthless and conscienceless. She plotted to kill my father for her own gains. She shared a bed with him for ten years, how could she bear to do it? Doesn't such an evil person deserve punishment? Eight years? Eight years is too lenient for what she did. My mother and father's lives, even if she died a hundred times, she couldn't atone for that!"
When she brought this up, Beatrice's shoulders started to shake slightly.
She just couldn't imagine someone could be so heartless and unscrupulous.
Beatrice roared at Agnes, "This is all your doing! You framed my mother for killing my father, it was you, you tramp, who played dirty! My mother would never kill my father."
Agnes sneered, "Is that what Laura told you? Beatrice, if you'd just use your head for once, could I have possibly faked those evidences? The audio evidence revealed by Vernon, did I fake that too? Your mother hired the best attorney in the Capital, and even he advised her to plead guilty to lessen the sentence. Do you still think I've falsely accused her?"
Beatrice's face changed slowly.
There were many things she didn't want to think about, just to make herself feel a little better.
She would rather believe Laura was innocent, even if it meant deceiving herself.
But Agnes just ruthlessly exposed the truth. And the truth was nothing but ugly facts.
Agnes moved closer to Beatrice, "Beatrice, deep down, you know all of this is true, don't you? You just can't admit it, can't accept that your mother killed our father. You blame everything on me, just to avoid facing the truth. Your mother is a murderer, and so are you."
"I'm not! I'm not. You're the one who should die!" Beatrice suddenly roared in despair, then took a step back, collapsing onto the couch.
Agnes stepped forward, grabbing Beatrice's chin, "Beatrice, I won't let you off that easy this time. Since you're unrepentant, let's settle both old scores and new."
Beatrice's eyes were full of fear, "What are you planning to do? You can't make me go to jail, Agnes, I'd rather die than go to jail."
The mere thought of being locked up in a dark, gloomy place terrified Beatrice.
Agnes looked at Beatrice, "Even if you go to jail, I don't want you wearing my face."
Beatrice was even more scared, "What are you going to do? What the hell are you planning?"
Agnes suddenly stood up, a smile playing on her lips, seemingly gentle, "Beatrice, I think you looked better before. Do you want to fix it yourself, or should I help you?"
