Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared) -
Chapter 703
The car traversed along the boulevard lined with luxury vehicles.
Every now and then, along the winding mountain road, stood welcoming maids with their flaming red hair and sparkling green eyes, each one as sweet as sugar. As the car passed, they presented a respectful curtsy with a warm smile.
Agnes lost count of how many there were.
But one thing she was sure of.
Count Alexandra had invited a lot of guests this time.
Because on the way, countless sports cars and luxury vehicles whizzed past.
Finally, the car halted at the entrance of the castle.
Stepping out of the car, Agnes was taken aback.
The castle was built in the seventeenth century, grand and majestic.
Outside the castle was a giant gold foil fountain, flanked by garden mazes, the air filled with the sweet fragrance of unidentified flowers, elegant and mysterious.
It was said that the castle also housed an aquarium, a theatre, and a horse track, which were simply breathtaking.
Upon entering, the interior was even more opulent.
The dome-like ceiling was adorned with ancient sculptures and murals.
Thick carpets lined the floor.
Around the hall, there were spiral staircases leading upstairs.
Around the hall, there were four floor-to-ceiling glass doors, leading to the front hall and the back garden.
From the dome, a crystal chandelier scattered a cascade of light, the whole hall was filled with elegantly dressed people, holding wine glasses, chatting and laughing. Agnes' appearance attracted a lot of attention.
There were at least a few hundred people in the hall, and almost of them were French and British.
Agnes was in a dazzling red dress, like a blooming rose.
As she walked, she attracted many admiring gazes.
Agnes kept her face expressionless, pretending to be aloof.
In such a situation, she was just a decoration, her only role was to accompany Kearney.
When Kearney arrived, he was a hit.
Whether it was wine merchants or the distinguished guests present.
He seemed to handle all with ease.
Speaking French, cracking jokes, he was like a humble gentleman.
Of course, Agnes could see.
Many people were complimenting her.
Agnes did not understand French, so she just smiled at them all the way.
The banquet apparently had not begun yet.
But Count Alexandra and his wife were standing in the center of the hall.
Many people were gathering around them.
Kearney bent down and said to Agnes, "Count Alexandra and his wife are over there, let's go and say hello."
Agnes nodded, took Kearney's arm and began to walk towards them.
Step by step, as they got closer.
Suddenly, Agnes' steps faltered.
Kearney noticed Agnes' change.
He stopped and turned to look at Agnes, "What's wrong?"
Agnes remained silent, but her gaze rested on a man not far away.
That man stood next to Count Alexandra and his wife.
One moment he seemed to be joking with Count Alexandra and his wife.
Seemingly a VIP guest of Count Alexandra's.
But the next moment, he turned his head and looked in Agnes' direction.
When he saw Agnes, he visibly stiffened.
Agnes didn't expect at all.
At a foreign child's coming-of-age banquet, to see Jared.
What were the odds?
The world is so big, so many things happening, so many places.
Why do these incredibly small odds always happen to her?
