Chapter 321

Chapter 321

Hearing the sound, Willow turned around and saw him. Her eyes widened as she stared at him.

Against the lighting, his military uniform was pitch black, and his glossy black boots made his legsappear long and straight. His black overcoat, adorned with gleaming shoulder insignia, and a fewstrands of hair falling over his forehead completed his imposing appearance.

When did this man become so tall? He almost seemed to be 6.56 feet,‘ thought Willow.

He had become much thinner since the last time she saw him, and his face was extremely pale andexhausted, making her heart ache.

“Willow, what are you doing here?” Lorenzo came to her and stood very close to her, shiftingslightly to block the cold wind from hitting her.

Willow was momentarily stunned. She lowered her head and didn’t dare to look into his eyes. Shesubconsciously covered the thermos in her jacket.

Since Joey’s incident, their interactions had become somewhat awkward.

Now, under his intense gaze, she felt even more uncomfortable.

“It’s too cold. Let’s go inside first.” Lorenzo reached out and took her hand.

Suddenly pulled by him, Willow froze again, feeling the rough texture of his hand and its slightcoolness against her palm. The sensation was familiar yet somewhat different. His hand seemedmuch broader and larger than she remembered.

Lorenzo felt her small hand was ice–cold and frozen. He pulled her towards the lobby.

“I… I don’t want to go in!” Willow tugged back with force.

She knew everything that had happened tonight and was aware of how busy he was. Seeing hiscurrent state, it was clear he still had a lot to do, and she didn’t want to hold him up.

She also didn’t want to stay with him under everyone’s watchful eyes.

Lorenzo turned to look at her and, seeing her insistence, slowly released her hand. He continued togaze at her, especially noting the bulge at her waist.

“Are you here for me?” he asked.

“I…” She lowered her head even more and avoided his gaze completely. She was inexplicablyanxious, her face blushed..

“Did you bring me some soup?” Lorenzo asked again.

Willow fumbled to hold the thermos tightly.

Lorenzo’s gaze and voice softened. “Did you make it yourself?”

When he was young, his health was frail, and he often got injured at military school due to theintense training. Candice used to make soup for him, but since she was busy with work, he learnedto make it himself.

Willow didn’t know how to cook and didn’t like cooking, but she knew how to make all kinds ofnourishing soups.

“No…no!” She looked up at him. His deep, sharp eyes seemed to glow with warmth, making hisgaze feel intense.

She lowered her eyes again and said, “It’s… made by my mother. She asked me to come.”

She quickly took out a thermos from her jacket, and stuffed it into his arms. “I’m leaving now.”Without waiting for a response, she turned and fled.

“Willow…” Lorenzo grabbed her, and with a gentle pull, she turned back, nearly falling into hisarms. She looked up at him in surprise.

He hugged the thermos that was still warm from her body. He felt his palm heat up and thecoldness around him dissipated.

Her carefulness in keeping the thermos warm inside her jacket, afraid the soup would cool down, made his heart soften once again.

Willow’s cheeks flushed, and her breathing had become rapid, all clear signs that she wascompletely lying,

She came specifically to bring him the soup.

“Be careful, the floor is icy and slippery,” he said, his gaze flickering as he tried to conceal his truefeelings.

He held onto her not because of the slippery floor, but because he didn’t want her to suddenlyleave.

After saying that, he released her hand, unscrewed the thermos, and prepared to drink the soup.

He was so hungry that he wanted to take a sip of her soup immediately.

“Oh.” She rubbed the hand he had held, carefully taking a step back while trying to steady herbreathing.

Just now, she thought he was pulling her because he didn’t want her to leave. She almost bumpedinto his arms and was so nervous that her breathing was messed up.

As Lorenzo opened the lid, a warm, fragrant aroma wafted out. He furrowed his brow and turned tolook at her

It was true that she did not make the soup.

“Willow…” he called out.

“Hmm?” Willow pretended to be calm, looking up at him. Seeing his puzzled expression, shefurrowed her brows and stared back at him.

“Is this soup made by Candice?” asked Lorenzo.

“Yes, I told you earlier. She asked me to bring it to you…” Willow lowered her head again, avoidinghis gaze.

The soup was made by her mother for her father, and she had taken the whole pot to deliver it tohim.

Recently, Lorenzo had been busy with work, helping Lea, He worked day and night without rest.He needed to replenish his energy.

She had already planned to tell her mother that the soup had boiled dry, and if her father neededmore, her mother would make another batch.

“This is ginseng and deer antler soup, right?” Lorenzo asked, his gaze growing even more intenseas he looked at her.

“Yes, it’s very nourishing,” replied Willow.

Seeing him staring at her intently, she looked puzzled and asked, “What’s wrong? Is there aproblem?”

“I’ve grown up,” Lorenzo said. He’s a man in his twenties, full of vigor.

Willow still nodded with a puzzled expression. Lorenzo had indeed grown up. He was now so tallthat she could only look up at him, which felt very unfamiliar. He had been only slightly taller thanher when they were children.

Lorenzo had no choice but to remind her, “It’s for boosting vitality.”

Willow’s face instantly flushed.

She finally realized why interacting with him now felt different from before. It was because they hadboth “grown up.”

She pressed her lips together, feeling flustered and at a loss, yet she couldn’t help but keep staringat him.

“Do you think I need to replenish my energy?” Lorenzo leaned forward, his deep voice both rich andenticing.

“Don’t you need it?” Willow looked at him again, noting the dark circles under his eyes and his paleface. He was clearly very weak.

Whenever her father worked long hours and was exhausted, her mother would prepare somethinglike this to help him recover.

“Willow…” Lorenzo took another step forward. Under the light, his body was covered with shadows, completely enveloping her, and revealing an ambiguous and aggressive aura. “Why don’t youcheck if I need it?”

Willow felt extremely embarrassed. She partly understood, yet also felt confused by his words. Shereached out to grab the thermos, saying, “If you don’t need it, I’ll take it back… Why is this sostrange?”

Lorenzo pulled it back, avoiding her grasp. “I haven’t had dinner yet, and I did’t have luncheither…” He looked at her with pursed lips. “Look at how pitiful I am. I’m so hungry.”

As expected, Willow looked at him with a pained expression.

“Oh, then go ahead and eat. Remember to eat on time,” she said the last part firmly, in her usualcommanding tone.

She worried that if he didn’t eat properly, his health might deteriorate.

“Then I’ll head back now.” She turned and walked away.

Lorenzo suddenly grabbed her again, and she turned to look at him.

“Once I finish up here, I’ll go to the hospital to visit Joey,” he said.

“Mm, okay!” Willow’s eyes brightened with hope. She estimated that her brother would wake up bythen. I’ll wait for you at the hospital, along with my parents and the others…”

“Alright.” He shared the same thought as she did.

“I’ll have someone take you back. Are you going to the Military Law Compound?” he asked.

“Yes.” Willow had to go back and catch up on her sleep.

Only then did Lorenzo release her hand and make a call to have someone come over.

Soon, an employee arrived with a car to take her back.

After such a short delay, Team One was already prepared. Other than his own people, they alsobrought many people to create a commotion and

pressure.

A military vehicle drove over. Lorenzo opened the car door and got in, heading straight for hisdestination.

In the car, he opened the thermos and took a sip of soup. It warmed his stomach to his heart.

“Mr. Patton, are you…” The driving adjutant stared at the thermos, his eyes nearly popping out.

“What?” Lorenzo asked with a stern face.

The adjutant forcefully changed the word “in love” with, “The bunny thermos is very cute.”

The bunny thermos in blue and pink exuded a strong, sweet, girlish vibe.

“Yes,” Lorenzo nodded. The thermos was undeniably cute, and it was obvious who it belonged to.

He wiped the corner of his lips, moistened by the soup, and smiled sweetly.

The adjutant was surprised.

He didn’t expect the cold–faced warlord to suddenly display such an expression.

Suddenly, a loud “bang” echoed through the air.

The car skidded uncontrollably and crashed into the roadside barrier.

As the adjutant was about to explain and apologize, Lorenzo’s phone suddenly rang. It was a callfrom Yates.

In an instant, Lorenzo regained his stern expression and answered the call.

“Boss, Zeke committed suicide!” Yates said on the phone.

Lorenzo was shocked and immediately instructed the adjutant. “Head back right away!”

“Yates, look after the others,” he ordered Yates.

The car quickly turned around and rushed back.
