His Eagle Eyes on Me -
Chapter 3005
Hayden had already left the company, and he called because he needed to know where Shelly was.
She took a deep breath and answered the call.
"Shelly, are you still at my parents' house?" Hayden said in a distant tone.
"I'm outside your parents' house."
"Good. Head back home! I'll wait for you there," Hayden said and hung up.
Shelly tightened her grip on her phone and hesitated for a moment before calling her mother to inform her about the situation.
Her mother was not particularly alarmed.
"It wouldn't have stayed hidden for long anyway. It's better that he knows, so we don't have to hide and be so afraid of taking Audrey out," Mrs. Taylor said.
"I'm afraid he wants our daughter," Shelly pessimistically replied. "I will talk to him and fight for custody of our daughter."
"Well, you always said their family is kind. They should understand our situation. After all, you didn't ask for anything in return when you gave birth to Aiden," her mother said.
"Mom, it's not the same now. I have already taken advantage of their kindness," Shelly said sorrowfully. "Our dessert shop is doing well because of their help."
"Don't lose hope. If they insist on taking Audrey, let them have her! What can we do? Life goes on! Besides, you can always have more children," said her mother in an attempt to console her daughter. "We can't ruin our relationship with their family over this. We can't afford to offend them!"
Hayden soon arrived at the small apartment complex where Shelly lived.
He had been there once before, so he was somewhat familiar with the route.
Initially, he had planned to wait downstairs, but after parking his car, he could not resist the urge to visit her apartment.
He got out of the car and entered the complex.
Retracing the route from his memory, he entered the building and took the elevator.
He knew which floor Shelly lived on, but he did not know her apartment number.
Luckily, when he stepped out of the elevator, he noticed that one apartment door was open, so he walked over and glanced inside.
Mrs. Taylor was holding Audrey, and their eyes met.
This was their first time meeting one another, but Mrs. Taylor immediately recognized Hayden, mainly because Hayden was a public figure, and his photos could be easily found online. "You must be Hayden, right?" Mrs. Taylor said.
Hayden nodded, "Are you Shelly's mother?"
"Yes. Come on in and have a seat."
Hayden did not refuse. "Should I take off my shoes?" He noticed that the room was clean but did not see any slippers at the entrance.
"No, there's no need. Just come on in! I mop the floor every day." Mrs. Taylor welcomed Hayden into the house and promptly put Audrey in the crib before turning around to pour a glass of water for Hayden.
Hayden approached the crib and carefully observed the baby inside. "Mrs. Taylor, is she Aiden's twin sister?" Hayden did not beat around the bush.
The baby in front of him seemed to be the same age as Aiden, which meant that Shelly had likely given birth to twins.
Mrs. Taylor remained silent for a
couple of seconds and then answered, "Yes, she is. Hayden, you won't blame Shelly, will you? She had no choice... No mother on earth would willingly separate from her own flesh and blood. Although it's selfish of her to keep Audrey to herself, it's understandable. I hope you won't blame her."
"Have you ever considered how I, as the father of these children, have felt all this time, not knowing that I had a pair of twins?" Hayden countered. "I may not be a good father, but Knever run away from my responsibilities. Why don't you trust me?"
