His Eagle Eyes on Me
Chapter 3099

"I just want to see your mom. Why do you always overthink things?"

"Normal people don't act like you do," Lucas said.

"That just means that you haven't seen enough normal people."

Lucas was instantly rendered speechless.

When they arrived at the hospital, Ivy bought a fruit basket at a store next to the hospital, and Lucas said, "My mom doesn't like fruits."

"You eat them, then. I am not visiting someone empty-handed," she said.

"Do as you please."

With that said, Lucas strode toward the ward, and Ivy hurried after him with the fruit basket.

"Mr. Woods, wait up! You are walking too fast!" she shouted, but Lucas did not slow down for her.

In the ward, Lucas' mother greeted him with a smile as he walked in. "Lucas, why did you come so early today?"

Ivy came in panting. "A-aunty! I-I'm Lucas' friend. I came to see you!" Her cheeks were flushed as she placed the fruit basket on the table and then turned to face Lucas' mother. Lucas' mother looked at Ivy, surprised. "You're Lucas' friend? Why have I never seen you before? When did you two meet?"

Ivy pursed her lips, feeling a bit embarrassed.

Lucas interjected, "Mom, don't mind her."

His mother chuckled. "What a pretty young lady! And you can tell that she is a pleasant person. Lucas, she seems to like you, so you don't have to look so serious."

"It's okay! I'm not afraid even if he looks serious. I know he's a good person," Ivy said.

Laughing, Lucas's mother said, "Hahaha! You're adorable! What's your name?"

"I'm Ivy. How are you feeling, Aunty?" Ivy walked to the bedside and asked with concern.

"I have terminal cancer. Didn't Lucas tell you?" his mother replied.

"What kind of cancer is it? Can it be cured?" Ivy asked.

"Cervical cancer. I don't know if I'll live to see Lucas get married," his mother said.

"We aren't close. Don't tell her these things. There are more things to life than marriage," said Lucas.

"Don't you know each other? Ivy seems quite close to you!" his mother said.

"She is like that with everyone. You haven't met her either, and yet, she insisted on coming to see you," said Lucas.

"Well, aren't you sweet? Where are you from, Ivy?" Lucas' mother asked.

"She's from Aryadelle, far from here. She came to experience life here, but she'll be leaving in a few days," Lucas explained.

His mother's eyes dimmed at his words.

Ivy maintained her smile. "Aunty,

before

6 back to my country, et

y day. Would you like thet

the hospital to visit

"That would trouble you," his mother replied.

"It's no trouble at all. I don't have much else to do anyway," Ivy said.

As they left the hospital, Lucas drove to the company.

Ivy held onto her seatbelt with both hands, lost in thought. "Mr. Woods, medical facilities in Aryadelle are relatively advanced. Maybe you could take your mother therefor treatment."

"Terminal cancer can't be cured," Lucas said.

Ivy wanted to help. "Even if it can't be cured, perhaps it could give your mother a few more years to live. Should help you contact some doctors in Aryadelle? My mother used to be a doctor, and she knows many skilled specialists..."

"Do you have some sort of white knight syndrome? Do you have to help everyone around you when they have difficulties?" Lucas retorted.

"Of course not. I just really want to help you," Ivy replied sincerely.
