Chapter 124

Late at night, a bar was bustling with noise.

Acacia, dressed in simple black sportswear, sat in a corner. The women here were dressed in backless outfits and heavily made-up, making her look somewhat out of place. She had been waiting for a long time when the smell of alcohol suddenly wafted over.

Acacia lifted her eyes and saw a familiar man sitting next to her, his perfume overpoweringly strong.

“Ahley, you’re still as beautiful as ever, really attractive.” The man gave her a suggestive smile, his eyes shamelessly fixed on her.

Acacia shifted away, goosebumps rising on her skin.

In the past, she used to be with him all the time, liked his sweet nothings, his firm muscles, and even more his skills in bed.

But now, seeing him just made her feel sick. How could she have liked such a man?

Head to toe, how could he compare to Thad?

“When did you come back? What are you doing here?” Acacia lowered her voice, asking coldly.

“I came to replace you. With you, I feel like I have a home.”

As he spoke, the man laughed and leaned towards her. His hand had already reached towards her inner thigh, and not satisfied even after a lot of touching, then he reached towards her clothes. “Remember to wear a skirt when you see me next time, this is so inconvenient.”

Acacia gritted her teeth and held his hand, “What do you want from me?!”

“I want you,” The man paused, then laughed, “to give me some money to spend.”

“I’ve already paid you alimony when we broke up! You still want to do this?!” Acacia was so angry her voice changed.

“Gambling has wins and losses and the money you gave me isn’t enough. I know you’re marrying the CEO of the Abernathy group now. I saw it in the news. I think if you wanted a perfect wedding, you should be able to fulfill my little request, right?”

The man’s words were filled with threats.

Acacia felt as if a bomb had exploded in her heart, hating him, “So what if you tell my fiance about our past? He loved me so he won’t care about my past! Who didn’t have a few ex-boyfriends? You can’t threaten me with this!”

“You make a good point, but I don’t think any normal man can accept that his bride-to-be has had a child for another man. And also, she was pregnant before marriage.” The man picked up her drink and leisurely took a sip of water.

“How dare you bring that up?!”

Acacia felt a chill at the thought of the baby girl. Hating him so much, she gritted her teeth, “It’s all your fault! I could lose my fertility if I had an abortion. Otherwise, how could I have given birth to her?!”

“I was too happy in bed at that time, and I didn’t care about anything else. Besides, you agreed to let me in, didn’t you?”

The man smirked, placing his arm on her shaking shoulder, “Our child was a testament to our love. Her existence proves that we once loved deeply. Without that child, how could we meet again?”

“How much do you need?” Acacia’s face was pale, her tone cold.

“Fifty thousand.” The man greedily named his price.

“My family is no longer rich. How can I give you that much money?”

“If you don’t have it, Mr. Thaddeus surely does.” The man sneered, “For a rich guy like Mr. Thaddeus, this is a small sum. He spoiled you so much. Will he refuse if you ask?”

Acacia’s eyes were frighteningly red, and her desperate anger made her suddenly calm down.

She suddenly had an idea.

Acacia abruptly changed her attitude, leaning on the man, looking at him pleadingly, “To tell you the truth, my marriage with Thaddeus is on the rocks. He said he wanted to break up with me a few days ago, and he doesn’t want to marry me anymore.”

“What? Why?” The man looked even more anxious than her.

He knew about the impending bankruptcy of the Stirling family. The reason he came to extort Acacia was because of Thaddeus’s support behind her.

If she really broke up with Thaddeus, then his plan to rush back from abroad to Elmsworth would fall through. At that time, he might not even be able to afford a plane ticket back home.

“Because Thaddeus has fallen in love with another woman, and his heart is no longer with me.”

Acacia’s eyes welled up with tears as she spoke, “He doesn’t love me anymore. What should I do? You ask me for money, but I can’t even protect myself now. How can I afford to give it to you? Even if you kill me, I can’t give it to you!”

“So there’s no other way?” The man was so anxious that he almost wished he could become Thaddeus’s wife himself.

“If that woman disappears, maybe he would look at me again.” Acacia was sobbing, her eyes flashing with vicious light.

“What do you want me to do?” The man made a throat-slitting gesture.

“As long as she can’t interfere with my marriage to Mr. Thaddeus and let us marry smoothly, I can give you anything you want.”

Acacia’s icy hand touched the man’s cheek, lightly rubbing, her eyes seductive and inviting, “At that time, not to mention fifty thousand, even five hundred thousand, I can give you if you want.”

Five hundred thousand?!

The man’s eyes glowed with greed. He abruptly pushed her against the wall, his hand slowly unzipping her dress, “Who is that woman? Tell me.”

The next day, in the CEO’s office of the Abernathy group.

Thaddeus held a cup of cooled black coffee, looking out at the luxurious view of Elmsworth, his eyes flashing with a cold light.

Chapter 124

“What the hell was this?! What was the chairman doing?!”

Gordon picked up the appointment letter of Elspeth as the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors on the table, so angry that he crumpled the paper, “Elspeth, an actress who relies on men to get ahead, what leadership skills does she have, what outstanding contributions has she made? What gave her the right to be the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors? If she can become the vice chairman, then pigs can climb trees!”

“Frederic gave her the Westguard project to pave the way for her to enter the Board of Directors.” Thaddeus’s eyes were gloomy, and he took a sip of coffee.

He felt suffocated, and even swallowing was difficult.

“Does he still not trust you now?” Gordon was furious, “Everyone knew the condition of your brother. He even needed a wheelchair to get around. How could he possibly take over the family business? No matter how much the boss dotes on him, it won’t help! You’re also his son. Why did he keep blocking you? Supporting Elspeth is just to keep you in check! What kind of father did this to his own son?”

“Enough, Gordon.” Thaddeus closed his eyes, frowning, “I know you mean well, but once we leave this room, we should not talk about this.”

“Mr. Thaddeus, what are we going to do now?” Gordon looked frustrated.

“I didn’t want to reveal some things soon. But since Frederic wants to play it like this, I have no choice but to face it head-on.”

Just then, his phone vibrated. He glanced back, and it was Jareth calling.

He was feeling all over the place and didn’t want to answer, but the constant vibration was getting on his nerves, so he picked up.

“What is it?”

“Thad, I got dumped. Can you hang out with me tonight?” Jareth’s voice was soft and weak.

“Bu gger off.” Thaddeus said coldly, about to hang up, when Jareth quickly exclaimed, “Evadne broke up with me! She’s serious, and she even put a knife to my throat! It’s over!” After hearing this, Thaddeus smirked slightly and said, “Serves you right.”
