Chapter 145

If it wasn’t for Avery dragging her along. Evadne wouldn’t have had a clue about this gigantic rose garden hidden in the Southern Suburb of Elmsworth.

That was Avery’s little secret, not part of the Chambers Group. He had fields, as big as hundreds of acres, all filled with Damask roses.

Under the sunset, the garden was a sight for sore eyes. The bright pink roses against the green leaves were stunning to look at and would definitely lift anyone’s mood. Evadne was hooked, she couldn’t take her eyes off them.

There were some young lovers strolling around, taking selfies, and even some internet celebrities livestreaming. Seeing all of these made Evadne feel relaxed, a break from her usual work stress.

With their striking appearances, they were catching glances left and right.

Anyone who saw them would think they were a match made in heaven.

Evadne bent over and gently touched the petals of a rose. She lifted her head, gave a playful wiggle of her nose and took a deep sniff. She looked positively ecstatic.

Avery looked at her with affection, smiling, “Ms. Evadne, you outshine the roses.”

Evadne chuckled, “I know I’m pretty, but thanks for the compliment.”

Avery moved closer, his eyes shining with hope, “Can I call you Evadne, like when we were kids? And you can call me Ave, just like the old times?”

Evadne felt awkward. Her feelings for him had changed since childhood. It seemed like Avery’s feelings for her hadn’t changed, but to her, he had become a stranger.

She thought for a moment, then answered gently, “Maybe when we get familiar again, I’ll start calling you that.”

Avery’s eyes sparkled with anticipation, “I believe we can get as close as we were when we were kids. I’ll wait for that to happen.”

Evadne felt awkward and quickly changed the topic, “Avery, how many roses do you harvest from this field each year? How much does it cost to grow these roses? Have any companies signed exclusive contracts with you?”

Avery smiled slightly, “Ms. Evadne, are you proposing a partnership?”

Evadne answered directly, “I do have that in mind.”

Ever since she stepped into the rose garden, she saw infinite business opportunities. Ever since she returned to the K Group, she had been thinking about breaking into the female market, developing cosmetics and skincare products with rose themes. However, due to her busy work schedule, she didn’t have much time and energy to invest in this project. And this rose garden rekindled her ambition to start that business.

“Damask rose is a symbol of love and beauty, with a romantic implication.”

Evadne’s eyes shone brightly, her understanding of roses was deep, “Damask rose oil is precious, it’s beneficial for both b*dy and mind. It’s expensive to import, but few places in the country grow this type of rose. Since you have this resource, I sincerely hope we can form a strategic partnership. You provide the roses and I’ll add value to them. If you collaborate with me, this rose garden can turn into something more than just a sightseeing spot. In the future, it can benefit women all over the country, become a brand that women love to pursue, and the profit is immeasurable.”

Avery looked at her deeply, a big smile on his handsome face.

In fact, he wasn’t paying much attention to her business talk. These past two years, a lot of people had shown interest in his rose field, but he had always just glanced over them.

That sea of flowers was like a lively party thrown by the rich, it existed just to attract her.

Seeing Avery deep in thought and not responding, Evadne mistook him for contemplating and chuckled, “I know, my proposal might be too sudden. And it’s a big project, you can take your time to consider, I’m not in a rush.”

Outside the rose manor.

Jason stood in the afterglow of the sunset, looking at the blooming roses from a distance, his mind filled with complicated thoughts.

He knew very well that the Chambers Group and the Ashbourne Group were closely related. Mr. Jeff and Chairman Emeric were like brothers. Mr. Avery’s affection for Ms. Evadne was obvious.

Normally, Ms. Evadne was cold towards the opposite S**, just look at how she treated Mr. Jareth, which was downright cruel.

But towards Mr. Avery, she didn’t seem so cold, even willing to continue spending time with him.

Of course, the fact that he once saved her played a part, but he had a hunch that Ms. Evadne was being exceptionally tolerant towards him.

Could it be?

Jason sighed helplessly.

At that moment, three black luxury cars were driving towards him from a distance.

A Maybach was leading the way, just seeing the license plate was enough to chill Jason’s eyes.

It was the Abernathy group, Thaddeus’s ride!

The car stopped, Gordon got out of the pa**enger seat first, and then courteously opened the door for Thaddeus to come out.

Thaddeus, cool as cucumber, gracefully buttoned his suit, stepped out of the car in his spotless handmade leather shoes.

“Oh, what rotten luck!” Seeing that handsome face of Thaddeus, Jason cursed under his breath.

A few seconds later, a slender hand reached out of the car.

“Thad, could you give me a hand?”

Standing by the car, Thaddeus glanced at her, hesitated for a moment, and then reached out his hand.

Acacia quickly grabbed his large, firm hand as if she had been afraid that the man would change his mind the next second.

Her face was full of gentle smiles, and she was over the moon!

Even though Thaddeus’s eyes were as cold as ever, she was confident that she would win back this man’s affection!

Seeing the unfaithful Thaddeus hand in hand with Acacia walking towards the manor, Jason was disgusted. He didn’t even bother to swear.

“Thad, I wanted to see the flowers, so I came with you. Do you think I’m a nuisance?”

Acacia’s eyes brimmed with tears, her expression a picture of wounded innocence as she clutched the man’s hand. “Maybe I should go back, I don’t want to be a burden to you.”

In truth, Thaddeus hadn’t come to the Rose Manor that day to admire the flowers. He was there on a project inspection.

That place boasted the largest Damascus rose fields in all of Elmsworth, even the whole province. He came to check the quality of these roses and the condition of the soil, even bringing along two botany experts for the investigation.

If everything checked out, he’d discuss potential collaborations with the owner of the Rose Manor, sourcing materials for the Abernathy group’s upcoming female skincare brand.

However, Acacia somehow got wind of this and insisted on tagging along.

Given Acacia’s recent suicidal thoughts and her severe depression, needing emotional stability during her treatment, Thaddeus had no choice but to agree to bring her along with him.

“It’s okay.” He said.

His voice low, his gaze intense, “The doctor said that if you spent some time admiring nature, it wouldn’t hurt.”

“Thad, thank you. You still care about me,” Acacia’s voice choked with emotion, and she nestled into his shoulder.

Thaddeus‘ brow furrowed, his b*dy rigid, a strong repulsion towards the woman was evident.

“Mr. Thaddeus, look over there! Isn’t that Ms. Evadne’s secretary?!” Gordon’s eyes widened even further, whispering excitedly.

Thaddeus looked up instantly, then froze.

For some reason, his heart began to race.

Jason and Evadne were always together, which meant Evadne was also currently at the Rose Manor.

Why was she there? Was she there to admire the flowers?

The next second, Thaddeus gritted his teeth and shook his head.

No, that just didn’t fit her character.

That woman was definitely there to snatch up the business opportunity!
