Chapter 186

Manila’s pretty face was pale and powerless, looking fragile and soft. She was like a small animal in danger, instinctively hiding in Jareth’s arms.

Jareth’s gaze dropped, his heart felt a chill, and his long eyelashes trembled slightly

The damp touch from the girl mingled with the warmth of his skin through his black thin shirt. His breath hitched, and he tightened his arms subconsciously.

“Miss Marilla?” His voice was a low whisper, slightly hoarse.

Marilla clutched his shirt tightly, her eyes closed. She remained silent.

“Are you hurt?” Jareth asked softly

She rested her forehead against his chest and shook her head.

Affection welled up in his heart.

The two bouncers saw Mr. Jareth approaching and immediately changed their attitude, bowing respectfully to greet him.

“Good evening, Mr. Jareth!”

“What just happened? Jareth asked lazily, still holding Marilla.

“Nothing”

The bouncer who had been most aggressive towards Marilla smiled, “This lady is a fan of Ada. She insisted on going in without an invitation. We tried to stop her, but she didn’t listen, so.”

“So you guys got rough? Jareth’s mouth curled up, his gaze deep and unreadable.

“No, we just stopped her from going in.” The bouncer downplayed, not daring to admit they bullied a girl..

Jareth smirked, then whispered into Marilla’s ear, “Do you want me to make it right for you?”

Marilla didn’t dare to look at him, she nodded, and then shook her head.

Jareth held Marilla with his left arm, and with his right hand, he drew his phone from his suit pocket and dialed Thaddeus.

“Hello, Mr. Thaddeus, may I deal with the Abernathy Group’s people?”

The two bouncers exchanged frightened glances at his words.

Jareth gently stroked Marilla’s damp hair with his left hand, “Good, hearing that makes me feel better.”

He signaled Marilla to stand firm, then made a gesture.

Then, the Fairhaven group’s bouncers quickly surrounded the two bouncers who hadn’t figured out the situation.

Marilla watched in confusion as Jareth nonchalantly walked into the circle formed by the bouncers, then disappeared from sight as the bouncers closed around him again

She couldn’t see what was happening within the circle of bouncers. All she could hear were screams that made her heart race!

A minute later, Jareth stopped, glancing coldly at the two bruised men. He took a handkerchief from one of his guards and wiped the blood from the back of his hand.

“You can’t even recognize Miss Marilla of the Abernathy family, what are your eyes for?”

The two bouncers turned pale with fright, they hastily bowed to Marilla.

“Miss Marilla, please forgive us! We didn’t recognize you, please spare us!”

In Elmsworth, who didn’t know the Fairhaven family held great influence? Offending the Fairhaven family meant no good days in Elmsworth.

Til handle this minor issue, no need to bother your boss.”

Jareth still smiled, tossing the soiled handkerchief onto their faces, “Leave the Abernathy Group, leave Elmsworth. If I see you guys here again, it won’t end well for you”

“Thank you, Mr. Jareth!”

The two men were led away by the Fairhaven family’s people, their eyes wet with gratitude.

Marilla stood still, her l*ps tightly pressed. She looked a little scared.

Jareth walked up to her again, looking into her clear eyes. He had a devilish grin on his handsome face, “The people of the Abernathy family can’t even recognize you. You’re quite the mystery”

“Did it really have to be like this?” Marilla asked softly, taking a small step back.

“Do you think I went too far?” Jareth narrowed his eyes.

Marilla nodded, her head down.

“But I think I still went easy”

Jareth laughed Seeing her pitiful state, he reached out and patted her head, “You’re my friend’s sister. They bullied you, of course I have to stand up for you. This is the lightest I’ve ever been, mainly because I didn’t want to scare you,”

Manilla felt the warmth from his palm flow into her b*dy through her hair.

It felt warm and comfortable. She couldn’t help but close her eyes.

Glynnis, who had just come out of the banquet hall, saw this!

She never thought that her well–behaved sister would come all this way!

“Little slut! You seduced my man the moment I looked away, you really have no shame!” Glynnis was so angry her eyes popped. She was about to rush forward, but

remembered Jareth was present, and her impulsiveness might repulse him.

After some hard lessons, she had learned to stay calm.

So she took a deep breath, hiding in the shadows to observe them.

Jareth noticed Marilla’s wet hair and the muddy white dress she was wearing. Obviously, she had braved the rain to get here.

He felt a pang of heartache and took off his suit to drape over Marilla’s shoulders.

Glynnis was grinding her teeth in anger. Seeing Jareth’s care for her sister, she was eaten up by jealousy.

“How did you get so messed up? Didn’t the Abernathy family driver bring you here?” Jareth asked with concern.

“I sneaked out here. No one knew it, Marilla, who wasn’t good at lying, answered truthfully.

“Sneaked out? Jareth frowned, somewhat puzzled.

Marilla didn’t know Jareth’s name, nor could she remember the pa**ionate k*ss under the stars with this man.

Tm Jareth, a friend of your brother”

The smirk on Jareth’s face grew deeper, “Just call me Jareth”

Jareth?

Marilla recalled the threats and scoldings from Glynnis before, all revolving around one man’s name. Wasn’t that Jareth?

She felt as if she had just been struck by a bolt of lightning, recoiling in terror.

But Jareth was seemingly oblivious to her discomfort, instead snagging her cold little hand and laughing. Tll get someone to change your clothes. “No need.”

“Don’t be polite with me. I’m your bro’s best mate. I’ll treat you like you are my sister. Come on, I’ll get someone to help you change.”

Jareth led the way, holding her hand.

“Jareth.”

Marilla was no fool.

Being led by a man she barely knew made her uncomfortable, but she didn’t dare to resist. Her small hand clenched in his palm, “Do you treat my sister the same way? She’s also my bro’s sister.”

Glynnis? As if she’s worthy!

“No.” Jareth lowered his head to look at her, his smile as radiant as the morning sun, “I only treat you this way.”

Glynnis heard every word, boiling with rage!

Her gaze was as sharp as a knife, glaring fiercely at Marilla’s retreating figure.
