His Ex wife is a billionaire Chapter 423
Chapter 423
After a brief mental struggle, Evadne made a decision–saying nothing.
Thaddeus was now consumed by guilt and regret. She did wish to see him rue his past actions towards her but his repeated attempts to make amends, risking his life and giving everything to repay his debt to her were more than enough.
She still wanted him to shine brightly in her life, like a star. She didn’t want to add to his guilt.
This was her subtle way of loving someone.
“Evadne? Are you really okay?” Thaddeus noticed her pale complexion and felt a tightness in his chest. His warm hand gently squeezed her shoulder.
“I’m fine.”
She lifted her face and beamed at him, “What could possibly be wrong with me? I grazed my finger climbing a tree when I was a kid. It’s no big deal, doesn’t affect my daily life.”
Despite her reassurances, he still couldn’t help but worry. He held her pinky finger delicately and said, “You have so many brothers. How did they not take good care of you?”
“My brothers do take great care of me! But what can they do when I’m a wild kid, who doesn’t like to be tamed?” Evadne pouted playfully, her coquettish charm making his heart flutter. He couldn’t help but peck her inviting l*ps.
“From now on, you won’t need them to look out for you. I take care of you, protect you.”
She blushed instantly at his words. His breath hitched at her reaction, his charming eyes dripping with desire.
“Ah! Speaking of which Evadne quickly took out a small, elegant box from her coat pocket and handed it to him, “Here, a gift from Cassius.”
“From your brother? Thaddeus was taken aback.
She nodded shyly, her checks turning pink, “Yes, you were unconscious when he gave it to me. I thought it would be best if I give it to you once you wake up.”
She was a person who valued presentation. So, she chose an elegant black velvet jewelry box to house the gift.
Thaddeus felt a pang of emotion, his throat tightening at the unexpected present. He hadn’t received a gift in a long time.
Once upon a time, only Evodne remembered all those anniversaries and holidays, only she cared about him. But he was blind to his blessings back then. He had someone who loved him wholeheartedly, but he always saw her as a burden, always trying to escape from her.
“Open it,” Evadne urged, leaning against him.
Thaddeus opened the box, his eyes widening at the sight of the cross pendant n*ecklace that Cassius always wore!
“Isn’t this your brother’s treasured possession? He’s willing to give it to me??
“Huh? He never shows it to others. How do you know he always keeps this n*ecklace close to him?” Evadne caught on to the crucial detail.
Thaddeus gave a bitter smile.
That time when Cassius barged into the meeting room and fought with him, the n*ecklace had sl*pped out from his shirt. The handcrafted plece had caught his eye immediately, plus the unforgettable scene, which left a deep impression on him.
“Its beautiful, exquisite. I really like it.”
“It’s not expensive, but it means a lot to him. Giving it to you is his way of accepting you,” Evadne looked at him, her eyes sparkling, and she could tell that he truly loved it
After all the twists and turns, she felt fortunate that the man she loved was still by her side.
What made her even happier was that Thaddeus had managed to change her brothers’ opinion of him. She once thought her brothers would never forgive him, but thankfully, things were moving in the right direction.
Her only concern now was Emeric. Emeric was a loving father, but he was also a hard man to win over, especially for someone who was already on his bad side like Thaddeus. But that’s okay. They would take it slow
As long as their hearts were in sync, no one could stop them from being together.
Evadne put the n*ecklace around Thaddeus‘ n*eck, her slender, graceful hand unintentionally resting on his firm chest.
His muscular physique was too tempting, just touching it sent her imagination running wild.
“How should I thank him?” Thaddeus asked, his fingers tightening around her waist.
His heart ached. When he used to hold her, he loved touching the softness of her waist. But
it now, he
could tell how thin she had become
He could only imagine how she must have neglected eating and resting, worrying about him while he was unconscious.
“You don’t need to, uh.”
As she was
speaking, Thaddeus abruptly pulled her into his warm embrace.
The rest of her sentence was swallowed in his passionate k*ss, as he explored every inch of her mouth.
After a moment of fervent k*ssing, he finally pulled away, gazing at her shining l*ps and dazed eyes. He arched his l*ps upward, revealing reluctance to stop, his voice husky and seductive, “Evadne, you taste so sweet.”
Evodne was dizzy from his k*ss, her ears turning red. She gripped his muscular shoulders, “Don’t get carried away. We’re not alone on this plane.”
“They’re all asleep. There’s nothing to worry about.”
Suddenly, Thaddeus tightened his grip around her waist, his l*ps teasing the edge of her hot ear, his breath becoming heavier, “TII be gentle.”
Gentle? What was this man planning to do?! Evadne felt a surge of alarm, but before she could react, Thaddeus l*ps claimed hers once again, slowly pressing her delicate b*dy down.
Chasel was sound asleep, almost drooling. Suddenly, he jolted awake, as if having a nightmare, and nearly fell from his seat if not for Cassius‘ quick reflexes.
“Uh, how long was I asleep?” Chasel rubbed his sleepy eyes.
“About three hours.”
Cassius looked at his dazed expression, his eyes squinting slightly, Did you have a dream??
“Yeah, I dreamed that you were yelling at me. You scared me awake, Chasel stretched lazily.
“Is it that difficult for you to be serious?” Cassius tone became stern.
“As a doctor, I’m pretty serious. But every time I see you, it’s hard to stay that way, Chasel suddenly moved closer to him, his fox–like eyes shimmering. So, who’s to blame for this? Isn’t it your fault?”
“Stop twisting words, Cassius looked away, a smile tugging at his l*ps,
“Are you knowing me for the first time? Don’t you know that I’m just as unreasonable as women?” smirked Cassius, his eyes twinkling with mischief.
“No need to make any classification. To me, the only difference between you and women is divided physiologically.” Cassius teased him in an alry tone. “If you were a woman, yould be adorable.”
“Am I not adorable now?” Chasel asked, his eyes wide with mock hurt
“Poor, unlovable Chasel.”
“Damn it!” Chasel exploded, “I could fill the Pacific Ocean with the number of people who are interested in me!”
“Thank you for helping Thaddeus.”
Chasel blinked, taken aback.
“Thanks to your generous help. Thaddeus is able to recover Cassius took a deep breath, “You saved Thaddeus, which means you saved Evadne. Not only Thaddeus owes you, I owe you also.”
“Talking about this makes me angry,” Chasel frowned, clearly annoyed. “Why didn’t you let Evadne, a renowned surgeon, operate on her own boyfriend? Instead, you dragged me all the way here to embarrass myself in front of my idoll Aside from this, you all kept it a secret and refused to tell me. What? I’m someone you replace amusing to make a fool of? Have you ever cared about my dignity?”
At the thought of those days when he’d been living in the same space with his idol, and yet he still treated her casually, pangs of utter regret tortured him.
Seeing Chasel’s vigorous rant which made him resemble Cassius sister only in different gender, Cassius was unwittingly amused, Tve never thought of making fun of you. I brought you here because I genuinely believe your medical skills are on par with Evadne’s. You two just specialize in different areas.”
Did he just praise him? The man who was so detached and reticent paid him a compliment today. Chase blushed, biting his l*ps.
“Regardless, I appreciate your help. Il repay you somehow.”
“How? In the flesh?” Chasel raised any eyebrow, looking at Cassius with a playful glint in his eyes.
“Chasel Bright Cassius scolded with a tinge of coquetry.
Suddenly, Chasel straddled Cassius‘ lap. Cassius‘ heart fluttered.
The two sat face to face intimately, their breaths clearly heard. Chasel’s eyes dripped with erotic gentleness, they were charming. bearing a resemblance to Ragdoll’s.
“Didn’t you say you owe me one?”
The next second, he wrapped his arms around Cassius‘ n*eck, his tender l*ps close, “I want a k*ss; then we wipe ti
the
slate clean.”
Before Cassius could respond, passionately, Chasel’s l*ps locked his; as his warm tongue slickly stuck in, their breath deepened. High above the air, the jet pierced through the clouds. Cassius found himself lost in the moment, his blue–veined hand subconsciously wrapping around Chasel’s waist. As he glanced outside the window, he saw as if there were gorgeous fireworks shrouded in the layers” of white clouds, blooming magnificently in the sky.
After five hours‘ fight, their private jet landed steadily at Elmsworth. At the airport, medical personnel Cassius had appointed were waiting to take Thaddeus to the hospital
“It’s okay, I don’t need further treatment,” the man declined instantly.
“How could you do this?” Evadne was upset, her eyes red, “You agreed to go to the hospital. Liar!” Thaddeus sighed helplessly, walking up, he clutched her, “Evadne, it’s my fault. Hit me, scold me, but please don’t brush me off.”
on’t talk to you anymore! Liar!” Evadne tumed her head away, acting coyly in his arms.
Cassius and Chasel watched in amusement, feeling like they were observing a pair of bickering grade–schoolers.
Seeing she was getting really angry, Thaddeus paused a while, his expression serious, “Evadne, right now the important thing is to interrogate Ward,”
Evadne’s eyes darkened at the mention of Ward.
“Elspeth still doesn’t realize Ward’s been escorted back. That she doesn’t know means we won’t get disturbed in thinking of a solution. So we must get a confession from Ward, that he is hired by Elspeth to kill Erica.”
“But will he confess? Evadne bristled with disquietude, her brows knitted, “Murder is capital crime. He knows he can’t go anywhere, confessing this won’t help him, nor can it commute the sentence. Besides, if he wants a revenge before dying, he’d definitely act as Elspeth’s scapegoat, by which it would vent his angry.”
The group’s mood got low upon hearing her words. Evadne’s analysis was right, for Ward, a vicious outlaw, there certainly wouldn’t be any conscience in him, let alone depending on his testimony.
“Then how do we do? Is there really not any way to handle that beast?” Jareth was indignant.
Pondering for a while, Thaddeus suddenly moved his l*ps. “If that’s the case, we might as well let Elspeth know we have Ward in custody.
Clever as Evadne, she understood immediately Thaddeus‘ strategy and hugged him excitedly, her ample breasts pushed against his chest as she acclaimed, making a flourish in his arms, “Wow! You’re bad, you know? I didn’t wrong you when I called you ‘douchebag‘, did you?”
Thaddeus was tantalized by the soft b*dy, his eyes reddened, and said in a hoarse voice, “Next time when you praise me, don’t have to be so subtle.”
The rest three couldn’t bear it any longer. This couple was constantly showing their affection in front of them.
“Ahem, well, you guys deal with Ward; I’ll get out of here. Gotta go home to my dear wife after leaving so long.” Jareth said, waving as he walked away, “Keep fighting the good fight! You can do it.”
And with that, he was gone, leaving the rest stay speechless.
“Um, you know, the Bright family owns a pretty reputable hospital. The neurology department is top–notch, Maybe Mr. Fairhaven could swing by for a check–up? Mention my name and he’ll get a discount Chasel crossed his arms, giving Cassius a playful nudge.
Cassius, tall and stoic, merely cast him a glance, allowing his antics to slide.
Evadne and Thaddeus nodded their heads enthusiastically, “Sounds like a good idea!”
