His Lethal Love -
Chapter 102
Camille POV.
Hesitatingly I stepped out of the room and found Scott sitting on the couch. He stared at something on the wall in utter silence. I was scared to get near him because I was not sure who he really was. I didn't even know who the man was in the
hospital. I was so confused. When he heard my footsteps he turned to me with a polite smile. I was one step away from looking into his eyes. Once our eyes locked I recognized him.
"Are you hungry?" he asked and I shook my head. He sighed and patted a space next to him. "Come here." Biting into my lower lip I took slow steps toward him. "I know you are confused and scared, Cam. I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable, but I don't want to see you in this state either." He paused for a moment, giving me time to adjust myself to the couch. I felt like my heartbeat was accelerating with his proximity.
"I don't know where to start..." He rubbed his palms together uncomfortably. "Samuel is alive." He winced at those words. "Scott you saw in the hospital was Samuel, not me. Do you remember when I dug a grave for him to bury his body? He was alive at that time. My father saw me burying my brother. His body was taken out of the place and checked at the hospital when we left the place. Since then he has been there. He has been in the same bed for twelve years." "Did you know that he has been there for twelve years?" I asked quietly.
"No, I just found it five months ago when he woke up from a coma." He rubbed his temples in irritation.
"But those medical reports were in your name."
"I just made them in my name so..."
"So that you could hide your brother." I gritted my teeth out, curling my fingers into a fist and glaring at him. "You have been saving my rapist for years."
"I just found out five months ago, Cam," Scott said in defence, closing his eyes, and shaking his head in disappointment.
"You're supposed to kill him." I accused him with a clenched jaw.
"Like killing him, is that easy for me in the hospital?" He scoffed. "I had to plan everything carefully, Cam." He paused for a moment to regain his composure. "Amos has no idea about my brother so he was thinking it was me who was suffering. My father had been hiding Samuel for years and he didn't even tell me about him when he was dying. I wouldn't have known about him if he hadn't woken up from a coma. I did all the paperwork in my name and told lies to my driver and Maura."
"I thought you were going to die."
Scott smiled but it didn't reach his eyes. "I was not dying, Cam but..."
"But what?" I spat.
"Um..." Suddenly he shifted uncomfortably on the couch. " Actually I have been feeling unwell for a while. I have had some tests and they have found out I am suffering from lung cancer." Before I opened my mouth to speak, he squeezed my hand. "I'll get well soon." I shook my head in disbelief, holding back my tears. "It's common, Cam."
"You have known it for a while. Don't lie to me, Scott. I know why you didn't donate your blood to Colette when she needed you."
"Everything is going to be alright, Cam. I'm fine. I would not have appeared in your life if Archie had not kidnapped you. Everything was proceeding according to my plan until Archie crashed into your car. I wanted you to see my brother die cruelly. It would have happened if you were there. I was about to give you this letter, Cam." He held out a letter in front of me. Grabbing it I unfolded it and read out every detail Scott was giving me about his brother and the truth. Tears welled in my eyes as I crumpled the paper in my hand and threw it angrily.
"This is not funny, Scott. I was shedding tears for my rapist."
"I was about to tell you everything but I was unable to meet you alone. I was just looking for an opportunity to be alone with you in the hospital but it never occurred. I hated to see you cry, Cam. That's why I just wrote that letter for you." His stern expression cracked as he breathed sharply. "I never intended to save my brother. I was waiting for the right time to tell you everything but at the same time, I was scared that I would lose you if I told you everything. My one wrong step might have destroyed everything."
I covered my mouth with my hand, breathing shakily. "I need some time to be alone." Dashing into the room I closed the door behind me.

Scott and I were driving back to the hospital. We haven't talked since last night. There were so many things I wanted to ask him, but I also didn't want to bother him. He told me he had lung cancer. Either way, Amos had told me the truth. Although I wanted to hold his hand, I kept my hands on my lap.
I was scared.
I was confused.
And I was mad at him.
After a few minutes, we arrived at the hospital. My phone was lost so I didn't know how many calls and texts I had received from Conan and Rika. And I really missed Colette. Natalie and Caden were looking after her and the last time I talked to her was two days ago. I hoped she was not worried about me because it would impact her health.
"Shall we?" Scott asked while gesturing me toward the entrance of the hospital. I bit my lip and nodded and followed him.
"Camille..." I paused when I heard Rika's high-pitched voice. I slowly turned around to look at her but her eyes were on Scott, horrified like she had seen a ghost. "Who is..."
"Scott," I replied, glancing at Scott. "It was Samuel."
"He is dead." She let out slowly, glancing between the two of us. When she realized what I had just said, she covered her mouth with a hand. "Oh, my God! It was Samuel." She approached me, looking pale. "I have been crying for that bastard for days. How come he uh? He was dead, right?" She grabbed her face in confusion, shaking her head.
"There is a long story." I sighed. "Where is Conan?"
"He is deeply saddened about Samuel's death." Rika broke into a smile in that tense environment. "He is grieving for that bastard without knowing who he was."
I slapped my hand on my head, glaring at Scott who was shrugging. "I was about to warn you."
"You have planned everything so well." I stabbed my finger into his chest, gritting my teeth out. "So that you would see how much it hurt me."
"Come on, Cam, do you think I enjoy watching you cry? It kills me every time I see tears in your eyes." He ran his fingers through his messy hair. "I've planned nothing. I didn't even plan to be back in your life, Cam. Sincerely, I was totally disappointed in what you did to me. That was not what I expected from you. It made me love you a little less." I winced at his last sentence. "It is for my daughter that I stand before you today. Once I meet her, I'll never see you ever again." I swallowed down his words and turned around without saying anything at all. I didn't want to show him how much his words hurt me.
Rika led me to Samuel's room where his body lay on the same bed. Conan stood next to the bed with his head hung low but when he heard our footsteps he glanced at us and was taken back by Scott's presence. He then looked at Samuel, then Scott, and then again Samuel. Realisation overtook his features as his eyes met mine and relief washed over him. He was relieved to see Scott alive. It was the first time I saw the relief on his face after seeing Scott.

Samuel's body was released after Scott completed some paperwork. Samuel was a rapist and my torturer, but he was also Scott's blood, so I asked Scott to arrange Samule's funeral. He was shocked to hear that but he squeezed my hand and gave me this appreciative smile. I returned the gesture and let him hold my hand for a while.
"I want to see your medical reports," I said when we sat in the car and buckled up my seatbelt.
"Are you suggesting I'm lying about my illness?" He scoffed as if he really thought about me that low. It was not his fault anyway. I made him believe that shit.
"No, I just want to see if you're really telling me the truth."
He frowned. "This doesn't make any sense, Cam."
"All I want to know is whether or not I should worry about your illness. You told me you were in the first stage of recovery and you would be well soon. I want to check that out if that's really true. You've been hiding so many things from me, Scott."
"The truth is you have never asked me about my health once." I winced because he was right. I had never asked about his health before.
After that, we didn't talk and stayed quiet. I didn't know why. I wanted to talk to him, hug him and cry on his shoulder but I was unable to do so. My chest tightened with fear when Scott parked the car in the driveway.
Colette rushed out and threw herself into my arms. "Colbey!" She screamed when she saw Scott. An alive smile appeared on his face as he carried her in his arms and showered her with kisses. Seeing them together made me feel envious. The way Scott looked at Colette. I loved them together but I hated them at the same time. We headed inside and Natalie and Caden welcomed us with huge smiles. I told Natalie everything on the phone. She might have told the same thing to Caden because he didn't look shocked to see Scott.
"I'm happy to see him again." Natalie smiled. "Look at Colette how thrilled she looks."
I nodded in agreement and said nothing..
When it was time for Scott to leave, my heart thumped. Scott said something to Colette before he headed toward me. I crossed my arms over my chest and sighed heavily.
"No matter what, just be strong for our daughter, Cam. I've seen you breaking and repairing many times in my life." Stepping up to me, he cupped my face and held my eyes. "However, I have never seen Camille before when she was with Colette. This Camille is a mother, a protector, and a fighter. I want this Camille to be alive when I leave her." I was barely able to hold back my tears as I burst into tears, hugging him tightly. He ripped himself away from me and kissed my hairline. "Goodbye, Cam. And yes, I still do love you."
I watched him slowly walk away from me. I tried to scream but nothing came out of my mouth. I looked at Colette who was watching her father leave with tears in her eyes. I had to do that. I had to do that for us. I had to do that for Colette. "Do you love him, Col?" I asked her and she nodded. I wiped the tears from my cheeks and shouted. "Wait, Scott." He halted but didn't turn to me.
I held Colette's hand and we approached him. I confronted him. His expression was stone hard. "She has the right to know the truth." I looked at Colette who was watching us with a confused expression. "Col..." I swallowed hard. "Do you remember the time when I told you about your birth father?"
"Yup." She nodded.
"He is the one." I forced a smile. "He is your dad. Your real dad."
"Real dad?" She gasped, gazing at Scott with wide eyes. "Is he my real dad?"

"He is the one who helped me bring you into this world." I blushed when an amusing smile spread across Scott's lips.
"That's why I have eyes like his?" She asked and I nodded. She scanned Scott for a while. "I can't believe he's my dad. Colbey is my dad." She jumped in excitement as she rushed into the house to tell everyone. I smiled, shaking my head. In the midst of my smile, I glanced at Scott and saw him staring at me with his intent eyes.
"Do you still want to go?" I asked.
He shook his head and tears shimmered in his eyes. "Fuck, Cam. You can't imagine how much I love her."
I whispered, "Don't go," and he shot his eyes at me in shock. "We want you in our lives."
"Are you serious?"
"Damn, seriously."
He sighed and pulled me into a tight hug.
"Scott."
"Hmm..."
"I want to see your medical reports."
He released a sigh as he pulled himself back. "All we can do is hope for a better future, Cam. I can pull through this shit if you two are with me."
"We're with you."
"We're together."
"We're together," I replied with a smile.
