His Lethal Love
Chapter 78

Camille POV.

Camille and I drove straight to the hospital. She asked me to come with her, and I was happy to do so. I never expected her to propose to me, but she did. I thought she would never allow me to meet my daughter. I glanced at her neck, which looked fine. Knowing that someone had attempted to harm her scared me half to death. My new place was nearing completion, and I had requested additional security.

I ignored Maura's constant calls. I avoided her for 24 hours while she tried to reach me. She again started to engage in adult movies and drugs. Though I hated the things she did, she would never listen to me. It didn't matter how many times I tried to get her back on track, she would always go down the same path. I chose not to marry her because I loved Camille. Maura had a still life. She could marry any guy who would make her happy but she wanted to marry me instead. "Colette wanted to meet you," Camille said in a rough tone.

"I know," I spoke out. "I've wanted to meet her for so long but you didn't let me."

"No way would I let you do that if it wasn't for my daughter," she snarled. "You know you don't deserve the love and respect she's showing you. If she replaces out what you did to me, she will hate you forever."

"I don't think you'll do this, Cam. Please!" My jaw clenched harder. "The last thing I want is for my daughter to hate me."

She said nothing and fixed her eyes on the window. Camille had become something else. I was missing everything, whatever we used to have in the past. I was an idiot not to believe her words. Fuck! No doubt, I deserve my daughter's hate. After a while, I parked my car in the parking lot of the hospital. Camille walked along with me. The silence between us was awkward. Everyone was watching us with surprised looks. Conan and Camille were a popular couple in Hollywood but their broken relationship had been in the news for the last week. According to the media, Camille cheated on Conan. It made her even angrier. We didn't have sex and people looked at us in a disapproving way. I hate everything that happens to women. Even if it was a man's mistake they blamed the woman. I would never have put her in this situation if Conan hadn't proposed to her. I wanted to spend my last few months with her. Here, I was a bit selfish. When we arrived at Colette's room Camille gestured for me to get in with a grim expression. I stepped into her room.

"Colbey!" Colette screamed out in excitement when she saw me.

"My dearest princess." I smiled and wrapped my arms around her small body. She had become thinner and paler than before. My heart ached to see her in a hospital bed.

"You here?" She gasped as she double-checked me as if I were a phantom. "I can't believe you have come to meet me."

If she could know how much I wanted to meet her. If Camille let me I would stay with her.

"So how are you doing?" I asked as I sat next to her bed.

"Umm..." she glanced past me at her mother. "I don't know. I feel sleepy the whole day." She pouted. "Sometimes my back hurts from lying on the bed all the time." "Don't worry, in a few weeks you'll get rid of this bed."

"Mom says we will go on a long vacation when I get well." I glanced at Camille. Her expression was indifferent. "Will you come with us?"

"Sure..."

"It's a family vacation," Camille cut me sharply and I sighed.

"Maybe later." I smiled at Colette. "I'll take you to Dragon World."

"Wow!"

"She's not allowed anywhere," Camille snapped.

"Have I asked for permission?" I retorted to her with a cold look.

"She's not going anywhere with you, Scott," she hissed out next to me but I said nothing. Camille barely contained her resentment for me in front of Colette.

"Mum, are you angry with Colbey?" Colette asked, staring at her mother with her blue eyes. Her eyes looked exactly like mine, which made me even happier. Anyone could recognize Colette as my daughter because she had my look and her mother's persona. I couldn't believe I could be this cruel. When Camille was carrying my child in her womb I left her. How could I expect her to forgive me when I never gave her a chance?

"No, I'm not angry with him," Camille hesitated while lying to her daughter. "I'm just worried about your health, honey."

"Can I ask you something, Mum?"

"Yeah, of course." Camille smiled and stroked her hair lovingly. It warms my heart to see their bond. "What is it?"

"Can you be Colbey's friend?"

I held back my smile, looking at Camille's pissed expression. "Honey..."

"Please, Mum..." Colette pleaded.

I wanted to hug my daughter tightly. She was doing what I had been trying to do for a month. Our daughter would bring us closer. "Okay, fine," she replied, and I smiled in amusement.

"Thanks, Princess." I kissed Colette on her head. "For giving me a chance."

After that, I talked about a lot of things about my movie with Colette. I observed how much she was into fantasy and she also wanted to be an actress like me. I imagined my daughter as a Hollywood actress. She was going to be one hell of an actress in the world. I found out she appeared in one of the commercials. Camille told me that. I was surprised when she began to talk to me. Sometimes she interrupted our conversation and started to tell me brave stories about our daughter. How she saved her neighborhood boy from a dog and how she first tried the Ferris wheel. After a long time, I felt joyful. Colette's happiness is something my soul longs for so long. I never thought I would ever love anyone more than Camille but it was my daughter who stole my heart. Seeing her smile made me realize how much her happiness meant to me.

"We need to leave, honey." Camille stood up before she embraced Colette and kissed her head. "We'll get you out of this place as soon as we can." "Goodbye, Princess. Take good care of yourself."

"I'll miss you two," she pouted and my heart sank. She didn't like being there all by herself but we, too, were helpless.

When we were leaving the hospital, Camille asked me, "Let's have dinner together."

I shot my eyes at her, shocked. "Are you serious?"

"I'm hungry. I haven't eaten since morning. Yes, I'm serious."

"Well, I'm more than ready to dine out with you." I grinned and opened the door for her. My heart missed a beat when she gave me a small smile.

I slid behind the wheel, glancing at her. She was wearing her seatbelt. Her hair fell over her face and my hand itched to brush it away. I stopped myself and buckled up my seatbelt.

"Where do you want to go?" I asked her.

"There is an Italian restaurant around the corner of the street. I and Conan often have lunch there."

My annoyance flared to hear his name from her mouth. "That's good." I forced a smile and drove to the restaurant.

Christmas would be in a couple of days and the whole city was decorated with gorgeous streetlights, wreaths, and huge Christmas trees. Festive cheer spread throughout the street. We would rather walk down this lovely street than ride in a car. I looked at people enjoying this festive season with their loved ones. I parked my car on the other side of the street since there was no parking space and got out. I frowned when Camille paused all of a sudden and looked at a little girl the same age as Colette. Her eyes watered as she remembered her daughter's memories. When every child was enjoying these great days with their parents Colette was in the hospital. I reached out to her and grabbed her shoulders gently. She let me touch her and made herself comfortable in my arms.

"I miss her," she whispered sadly.

"She might get discharged from the hospital on Christmas Day."

"I don't know."

"I'll talk to the doctor."

"Thanks."

The Italian restaurant we were taken to was decorated with beautiful lights and a red sleigh on the left of its entrance.

"Do you remember when mum bought a sleigh on Christmas Day and how many pictures we clicked together while sitting on it?" Camille said.

"And the next day you fell from it and injured your head." I smiled at those unforgettable memories.

"Yeah, I cried my eyes out when I dropped to the ground. My head had swollen as huge as a watermelon and I looked terrible that day. That was my dreadful Christmas." "How old were we at that time?"

"I guess we were thirteen."

"No, twelve."

"It's thirteen," Camille argued. "I remember it. I remember it very well because of my wound?"

"No, we were twelve," I told her after pressuring my brain to recall our age. "Thirteen."

"Twelve," I uttered.

"How sure are you? I remember you gave me this bracelet on my thirteenth birthday," she said and pulled out a silver string from her purse. "You were also thirteen."

I looked at my bracelet and then at her. She was smiling triumphantly but her smile vanished when she saw a shock on my face. She quickly put the bracelet in her purse clumsily and looked away embarrassed. There was an awkward silence between us but I broke it off.

"You still have this?" I asked her but she didn't bother to reply and walked over to the table.

I sat across from her. My eyes couldn't leave her beautiful face. Camille looked stunning in a red dress. Bright red stood out against her ivory skin. Her hair fell freely over her shoulders, and her face was naturally free of makeup. My jaw clenched when my eyes fell on her lips.

Shit!

I desired to kiss her there. Her lips were soft and plumpy and sexy. I shoved my craving away and ordered our food. The waitress flirts with me but Camille couldn't care less as she was enjoying her own company. I wanted her to react but her action was neutral. I wondered how she would react if Conan was in my place. Maybe she would shoo her away with her death glares. We ate our food quietly and said nothing. I was replaceing it difficult to eat in such awkward silence but Camille seemed to be enjoying it. She had grown tough and I had become weaker.

After dinner, we walked down a busy street. She rubbed her arms to generate some heat. The snow had started to fall.

"Oh my God!" Camille gasped in excitement. "Snow falls."

"I think we should leave before the road is jammed with snow."

"I think we're late." She sighed and we looked at the thick white carpet of snow. My car's wheels were diving into the snow. "Damn it! How do we go home now?"

"I don't know," she mumbled, looking around for help. "The street is empty."

I closed my eyes and sighed exasperatedly. "I have a shoot tomorrow."

She frowned and looked at me. "We can't call your pilot either. The weather is changing. I noticed her body was trembling due to the cold. I quickly took off my jacket and wrapped it around her.

"We need to replace shelter to spend a night."

My eyes caught a small hotel decorated in green. "We could take a room there."

As soon as we entered the building the manager recognized us. "Mr. Martinez and Miss Davidson," he blurted, shocked. "How can I help you?"

"We want to book two rooms." Camille sighed in relief. I knew she wouldn't spend the night with me.

"Unfortunately, we have only one," he said regretfully.

I ran my fingers through my hair, frustrated.

"But..." Camille was about to speak but I cut her off. "No problem. We'll manage it in one."

He took us to the room which was spacious and clean. There was one master bed, one wardrobe, and a sofa. The window revealed a beautiful view of snowfall. The fireplace was empty and there was no firewood there. I asked the manager, but he told me the firewood was out of stock and would be available in the morning.

"What a terrible place is this!" Camille groaned and covered herself with a blanket. "I'm fucking cold." She had turned red due to the cold. I approached her and sat next to her. She was still shivering. "I don't know, I can't stop quivering. I'm freezing. This hotel room is awfully cold."

After taking her hand, I started rubbing it slowly. Her palm was cold and red. "Is this working?"

She shook her head.

"I'll check, maybe I'll replace something." I looked at the small cabinet next to the bed. Grabbing it, I placed it a little away from the bed.

"What are you going to do?" asked Camille, terrified when she realized what I would do.

I was trained in karate in my movie Blue Dragons. I was taught to break wood and bricks with my bare hands. I inhaled long breaths before striking the wooden cabinet. I ground my teeth when a sharp pain shot through my hand and the cabinet didn't budge from its place.

Dammit!

"You're stupid." Camille laughed harder.

I ignored her and tried again, and that time I succeeded. It was now my turn to laugh proudly as her jaw dropped.

"Your jaw has dropped. Pick it up, baby." A sly grin spread across my lip.

She shut her mouth and rolled her eyes.

To burn wood, I emptied the entire alcohol bottle onto the wood and lit it with a matchstick. Putting the mattress in front of the fireplace, I gestured to Camille to come there. She sat next to me and we covered ourselves with a quilt. Her breathing became more relaxed when she felt warm. Her head placed on my chest sent my heartbeat skyrocketing.

"Your body is so warm," she mumbled. She accidentally brushed my crotch with her hand, making my dick twitch in hunger. I felt her body pressing into me more and more. The curves of her body smoothed my body. Fuck! Her body felt amazing. As much as I wanted to make love to her, I couldn't.
