“Guess we are even..” I said turning on the shower whilst laughing. He joined me in the shower and once we were done and dressed up in matching long-sleeved shirts and sweat pants

“Come on Mrs. Black let’s go tell everyone the good news..” I smiled at him as we intertwined our hands.

“Good news family..” Zane began to say once we were done eating breakfast, “Scarlet and I–” he held out his hand helping me up so that I was standing next to him.

“We are getting married..” Everyone gasped while I showed off my ring.

“Wow, that is wonderful congratulations!!” Mom was the first to get out of her sit and hug us.

“Congratulations son I am proud of you..” Dad said

Everyone else congratulated us and they all seemed happy but Mom was the happiest.

“Oh my gosh, when will the wedding be? We have to arrange a wedding dress, the venue, print out the cards, invite guests and–“

“Mom relax..” Zane chuckled.

“When will the wedding be?” aunt Melissa asked.

Zane looked at me. I didn’t say it but I didn’t want the wedding to be anytime soon I wanted it to be after all things with Ceros ended but I wasn’t going to say it if he wanted it now then I won’t object.

“We haven’t discussed yet but I am sure Scarlet will prefer after the whole thing with the war is over right..” Zane said looking at me I am glad he understood me without me saying a word.

“Thank you..” I said hugging him.

“You are welcome. I want our wedding to be perfect not where we are standing on the alter but your mind is somewhere else. I know just how worried you are about this war..” he said cupping my cheeks.

“You really are amazing I love you..” I said kissing him as the others awed.

“I love you too..” he said after we pulled apart.

” so now since you both are now fully mated and planning a family I guess it’s time to hand over the pack. What do you think Dean?” Dad said.

” yeah I think it’s time that we retired..” uncle Dean said.

“So you guys ready to take over?” Dad asked looking between Zane and me and Aaron and Bloom.

” yeah, why not. Brook and I are ready what about you guys?” Aaron asked. I kept on looking at Zane waiting for him to make a decision.

” yeah I am ready are you cupcake?.” he asked me.

” yeah I am ready too but I think the official ceremony should take place after you know the war and everything if that’s okay with you..” I said.

” yeah, it’s okay. It’s fine as long as you guys take over I am happy..” Dad grinned.

*** one month later ***

It’s been a month since Zane came back! one hell of a month!. I haven’t had any peace because at night it’s always me and Zane making a baby in the morning Mom pampering me with lots of food and asking if I was feeling okay or anything.

Zane had even bought me a pregnancy test numerous times but it always came back negative.

Every time it did I smiled internally truth be told I didn’t want a baby not yet we still had a war coming and I was a little bit scared that if my baby came into this world he would be in danger and would leave early. I guess fate was on my side. I have tried to explain this to Zane and Mom but I have become the bad person. They even think that I am on the pill but luckily I assured them and even went to the doctor for a check-up.

Zane would get disappointed each time the test came out negative especially since he so badly wanted to be a Dad. He used to admire Aaron a lot when he saw him lovingly caress Bloom’s baby bump or when he was playing with Aaron Jr.

It’s also been a month since aunt Melissa, uncle Dean, Aaron, Bloom, and BeBe went to Africa to visit aunt Melissa’s Mom and her sister now it’s only me, Mom, Luka, Zane, and Dad.

I was in my office trying to replace a lead on where I can replace Zane’s sisters. Just in case I become pregnant we have to be prepared. But every time my research always comes blank.

Who am I kidding how can I replace someone I know nothing about?

I have tried to ask Zane what happened to his sisters and why nobody ever talks about them but I always get the same response “I don’t want to talk about it” and every time I asked he always ends up waking up in the middle of the night from a nightmare and then muttering an “I couldn’t protect her, I couldn’t save her.”

I sighed how will I replace them? Maybe the reason I wasn’t even getting pregnant was because of worrying too much. I think I need a time-out.

“Asuncion..” I said to my secretary after she came into my office.

“I am out for the day if there is any paperwork send it to me via email..” I added grabbing my bag

“What about sir, what should I tell him?” she asked.

“Tell him that I am at home okay I need to rest..”

“Yes ma’am..” she said

I went out of the building to go to my car when I saw Luka roaming around.

“Luka..” I called he smiled at me coming over. Maybe I will just ask him about Zoey and Zara.

“Hey, Angel how are you? Did something happen? Why are you leaving early? Is it the baby?” he asked and I sighed always asking about a nonexistent baby this was really getting on my nerves.

“Am fine can we talk..” I said motioning for him to get into the car.

“Okay?” he said unsure he got in and I got in as well.

“What happened to Zoey and Zara?” I asked. He stiffed.

“I need to go talk later..”

“No!” I said, “you are not leaving until you tell me! A war is coming up and I want to know where they are so that I can replace them and bring them back..”

“That won’t be possible..” he sighed, “I don’t know where they are..”

“Tell me what happened to them maybe I can help replace them..” I said softly I could tell he was on the verge of crying.

“It happened nine years ago in Italy. I didn’t even know they were my and Zane’s sisters till on the day before their sixteenth birthday where Aunt Raima revealed that they both were my sisters.

I was really happy. The only reason I liked staying in Italy instead of here was that I wanted to be with them both and the thought of knowing they were my sisters was beyond amazing. Until of course when nighttime came.

I kept on moving on my bed unable to sleep I was only 12 by then all I wanted was to sleep in Zoey’s room and so I got up.

I knocked on her door but no response though I could hear some sound come from the room.

I asked if she was okay whilst opening the door only to see her crying and naked covered in b***d. I grabbed the blanket covering her up and asking what happened but she didn’t say it was like she was mute.

I got up going to my aunt and uncle’s room where I banged on the door telling them what I just saw they both came out and went to her room. After they saw her aunt began crying while uncle called my parents. Zara woke up too and they were all crying

They told me to go to bed I tried to protest but it was no use.

The following morning Mom and Dad came they were furious with Aunt and Uncle Dad even told Aunt that they were no longer family because she allowed it to happen to Zoey even after Aunt begged for forgiveness Mom and Dad just took us and brought us here…” He sniffed tears falling freely while mine did too Zoey was raped that’s terrible.

I got the box of tissues handing it to him so he could wipe away the tears

“After we came here Mom tried so hard to make Zoey talk or even eat but it was no use she was always locked up in her room until one day a month later Mom found her laying in her room naked and passed out with her wrist sliced.

They rushed her to the hospital but luckily she survived and we learned that she was pregnant.

Mom and Dad were devastated. When she woke up realizing that she survived she cried then wrote on a piece of paper that she wanted to see Aunt Raima. Dad called her and the following day both my Aunt and Uncle came.

Aunt went into Zoey’s room I don’t know what happened since none of us were allowed but when she came out she was fuming in anger and started yelling at Dad telling him how he failed to protect her because apparently, the man who raped her back in Italy followed her..”
