His secret spoiled wife (Lily and Alexander) -
Chapter 2239
Austin was the first to break the silence. He cleared his throat and looked at Alexander askingly. "So, what should we do next? Pretend we don't know anything or act like we're assuming Mike's under Rhea's control?"
Pointing at Mike, Austin pondered this but did not know what to do. The situation was too complicated for him to handle. He had a way with medical problems, but their scenario was complicated.
'How do we solve it without incurring complications?'
Unable to figure it out, Auston consulted Alexander.
After some thought, Alexander said, "Let's pretend you didn't confess to us and that we're still suspecting you. Let Rhea keep thinking you're under her control."
Mike nodded in agreement. He would not have told the other two about his plan if he was not concerned about them jeopardizing it. He only told Austin and Alexander to make them realize the situation was no as bad as they had imagined.
Mike also did not want them to think he was incompetent. In other words, he had no wish to change his original plan.
"Would Rhea discover that her hypnosis didn't work at all?" Alexander asked again, still concerned.
Mike's gaze was unwavering. "Rest assured, she'll never replace out. She also used her drug on me. I guess it was supposed to induce the hypnosis, and I—"
Before he could finish, Austin grabbed his wrist. Austin was anxious, while Alexander looked grave. Only Mike seemed carefree and calm, even smiling faintly.
"Your wrist pulse is indeed abnormal. Is that why you refused to let me feel your wrist and avoided me for the last two days?" Austin caught on.
Mike nodded and chuckled bitterly, "You're quite perceptive. I tried to do it subtly, but you noticed it anyway."
Austin raised his brow. "That's because we were already suspicious of you then. Since we were here, I paid attention to every move you made. Although I was joking, you didn't want me to check your pulse. It showed you were hiding something."
"So, how is he? Is he poisoned?" Alexander asked, worried.
'I've got to hand it to Mike,' he thought, 'He told us nothing even though Rhea had drugged and hypnotized him. I doubt he would've told us anything if we weren't about to confront him. Still, what could he accomplish by enduring everything alone?'
