"You've misunderstood me, Your Grace. Anyway, I'll show you I can do it!" Rhea said despite herself. It was not just a promise to Fred but also to herself. She knew she had to deliver to secure a place in the organization.

Fred had no patience for promises, so he turned and left in a hurry. He wanted to look for changes in the queen and Lily's data and whether everything stayed normal.

Since Ross was around, Fred could only wait until the former left before proceeding with the experiment's last phase. Although Ross said he would only be around for three days, he showed no intentions of leaving. He even overstayed for one and a half days.

Worse, Ross hardly went elsewhere. Fred had arranged for a guide to take him around the city. However, the prince claimed he had visited the place a few days ago and wanted to stay in the embassy to discuss national affairs with the duke.

Fred was upset but could do nothing. Still, he had to go downstairs to check out the two's data and conditions. Given his financial resources, he had only one chance. It was the most suitable time to gather data.

If things went wrong and there were no data to refer to later, he would end up in danger.

After getting someone to keep an eye on Ross and stationing his men on every floor, Fred headed toward Lily's room. He had felt uneasy over the past two days.

Fred was not superstitious, but he could not shake off the feeling that something terrible would happen. He did not like it because it would affect his mood. After taking a deep breath, he told the guard to open the door to Lily's room.

She was lying inside peacefully as if sleeping.

Fred stood at the door and looked at her. Lily's breathing was even, but her face was pale. He thought it was because she had not gotten much sunlight. Still, Lily seemed to be in a deep sleep.

"Lily," Fred called out grimly.

She did not open her eyes.

Fred sneered.

'Did she think I would fall for it?'

He said coldly, "Cut the crap! You should've sensed my presence even before I entered the room. Do you think you can avoid everything by pretending to be asleep? That's so naive!" However, Lily did not respond, no matter what he said.

Fred frowned and neared her. "Lily?"

He struck the floor with the tip of his cane, but she remained still with her eyes closed. She appeared as if she had passed out.

Fred sensed something was amiss and gently poked her with his cane. "Lily? Drop the act so we can talk. Perhaps you might not need to die."
