Honey, I'll Make You a Star (Margaret and Charleston) -
Chapter 72 At Limbaugh Group
Chapter 72 At Limbaugh Group
After she finished talking, Margaret wanted to slap herself.
D*mn it, was this too straightforward?
Margaret's face was flushing red. The arrogance she had in front of Charleston before was all gone.
Now, she only wanted to replace a hole to bury herself in.
As she held her phone to her ear, feeling like a nervous wreck, there was only silence from the other end.
After what felt like forever, a faint laughter was heard from the other side.
"Finally willing to give it back after you've seen enough, hmm?"
The tone on the last word was raised slightly. It was as if there was a deathly temptation to it.
It made Margaret stumble over her words. She stammered, "What's... What's there to look at? It's just a little kid..."
"As expected, you've seen it."
Margaret was so mad that she bit her lip.
"Bring it over," said Charleston in a low voice.
"What?"
"Bring the photo over to Limbaugh Group. Or, do you plan to keep it?" Charleston seemed to be considering whether he should let her keep it or not.
Margaret's face was now a tomato-shade as she spat, "Who would want to keep this?"
"Then bring it over at three o'clock in the afternoon. I'll wait for you!" Charleston said.
Margaret hung up the phone angrily.
D*mn it, she had been cornered by this man.
Margaret took a deep breath and forced herself to shift her focus on the script. She then began to read her lines carefully.
At Limbaugh Group.
In the meeting room on the top floor.
The atmosphere in the room shifted as all the directors watched their chairman answer a phone call.
His face was previously stern and angry, but his mood abruptly changed for the better upon answering the call.
Everyone began to guess if the person on the other end was the future wife of the chairman.
"Sir, is it your...?" A bold director asked cautiously.
Normally, he would be scolded for asking that.
However, Charleston curved his lips upwards into a smile and nodded at him in a good mood.
That director suddenly breathed a sigh of relief and continued asking, "Which family is she from?"
"She's just an artist." Charleston was always in a particularly good mood when he talked about Margaret.
An artist!
Mr. Limbaugh had actually taken a fancy to an artist?
The directors who were present looked at each other in shock.
Could it be that the rumor about Mr. Limbaugh and Suanne was true?
Not bad, Suanne.
Everyone here knew about what was going on.
But even so, they will be tight-lipped about it.
Margaret's shooting went extremely smooth.
It was the first time that the charming little witch transformed into a human and saved a scholar.
It was a common scene.
As the cliche goes, the sly witch would fall in love with the scholar before getting together with him in the end.
Otherwise, the witch would probably be forced to turn back to her original form if they did not end up together. It was even possible that her soul would be crushed. If it had been such a vulgar script, Margaret would never take on the role.
Even if it was against Zachary's will, she would never take it.
The most attractive thing about this script was that the witch had a special relationship with the scholar because it was her first time seeing a human being. So, she depended heavily on the scholar.
However, the scholar was engaged to a young lady from a wealthy family.
The witch then happened to replace out about the young lady whom she eventually fell in love with.
That was right!
She fell in love with her!
Instead of falling for the scholar, she fell for the young lady from the wealthy family!
Unfortunately, the young lady already had feelings for the scholar. So, the witch could only secretly protect her when the scholar went to the capital city to take his exam.
After this, the scholar was instructed by the king to marry his most beloved princess to take the title of a prince.
Even after the king learned about the engagement between the scholar and the young lady, he refused to call the scholar and the princess' engagement off.
Instead, the king ordered for the young lady to be killed.
When the witch received news about this, she mentally broke down and made the hard decision to become the king's favorite concubine within the palace. This then upset the entire kingdom and brought calamity to the country and its people.
She was burned to death later for having a dispute with the king. Her soul was scattered before she finally disappeared from the world.
The sly witch, therefore, played a role that brought disasters to the country and its people. She was an extremely malicious character. Currently, the scene of the witch becoming the king's favorite concubine was being filmed.
In the imperial harem, the witch had been granted some power over the harem which the queen and the king's mother opposed.
The witch then deceived the king, causing the imperial harem to be in a state of chaos.
The witch, played by Margaret, was sitting quietly in the carriage gifted to her by the king as she enjoyed the events unfolding before her.
Her eyes were extremely seductive and filled with mockery. She had framed the princess' biological mother with ease and calm.
She had robbed the queen of her honor.
"Okay, cut-" The director was very satisfied with the filming.
This scene was done so well, it almost felt like the perfect take.
"Margaret, you did well in this scene. If I didn't know any better, I'd have thought that you're actually that witch who turned the world upside down," the director chuckled. "Thank you. I will continue to work hard." Margaret said with a smile.
They had finished all the scenes for that day.
Margaret went back to the nanny car.
Lacy returned, looking as nosy as ever, and poured Margaret a glass of juice. Then she mysteriously said, "Margaret, do you know Stephanie?"
Margaret paused for a moment when she heard Stephanie's name.
"Why?"
"She was not famous before. But some time ago, she became viral because of a dance. However, her legs are now injured and she can't dance anymore." Lacy informed her. Can't dance anymore?
Ha.
All of a sudden, Margaret understood what had been going on.
This was Stephanie's plan all along.
"Also, it looks like she was pushed by someone," Lacy continued.
"By who?"
"No one knows."
Margaret put the cup aside.
It did not matter what on earth Stephanie had planned.
As long as she did not try to threaten Margaret, everything would be fine.
Otherwise, Stephanie better not blame Margaret for losing her cool.
Her previous indifference only meant that she did not care about it.
The only thing she cared about at this moment was to earn money.
However, when cornered like this, a rabbit would also learn to bite back.
"Drop me off near Limbaugh Group later. I have something to do there." Margaret said, looking at the time.
It was two in the afternoon. She estimated that she would reach Limbaugh Group at three sharp.
"Okay." Lacy nodded.
Soon enough, the car came to a stop.
Margaret took her bag and got out of the car. She made her way to the Limbaugh Group office entrance.
The Limbaugh Group.
The building was magnificent. Margaret walked in wearing a pair of shades. She had already phoned Charleston in advance.
Sure enough, the receptionist did not stop her when she entered.
Soon, Larry came down and led Margaret to the president's private elevator.
The elevator soon arrived at the destination.
At the top level of the building.
The whole floor was Charleston's office area.
There were offices, a lounge, a private dining room, a golf course, a swimming pool, and other facilities.
One could call this the idealistic workspace.
"Miss Margaret, he's in the office." Larry said in a respectful manner, but it seemed that he had no intention of going in with Margaret.
Margaret swallowed helplessly and asked, "Aren't you going in with me?"
Doesn't this mean that she would be sent to the gates of hell alone?
Larry flashed her an apologetic look.
Margaret had no choice but to walk over and push open the heavy office door...
