Chapter 607: It's All Over
Myles handed Freddy a spoon from the side, "Take your time eating."
Freddy took the spoon, "It's been many years since I've had breakfast in our Manches City. It feels familiar just looking at it."
Myles looked up at Freddy when he heard this and asked in a low voice, "Uncle Cooke, are you still leaving?"
Freddy stirred the porridge in his bowl and said softly, "I want to leave, but I can't bear to leave Bonnie behind."
Freddy looked at Myles and continued, "So I'm not planning on leaving. I've spent most of my life wandering outside and now that I'm old, it's best to stay home." Myles nodded his head and said, "Don't leave. You're in Manches City now. If you need anything, just let me know; we can go out together."
"You have nothing better to do than take me around?"
Myles replied with a smile," When there's nothing else going on, then why not take you around? Besides nowadays... I don't really have much going on every day."
Freddy responded, "Okay then, from now on, when I want to go out for a stroll around Manches City, I'll go to you, because so many places here are different from what they used to be like back then." "The changes in Manches City over these past two years have been quite significant."
The two had some small talk while eating breakfast.
After finishing their meal, Myles took Freddy for a walk along Old Street.
Old Street was still quite large; it would take an hour or so, just a leisurely stroll.
Myles walked beside Freddy; whenever Freddy asked something, Miles would answer him accordingly, and sometimes he would even actively tell him things he knew.
"Miles,"
"Hmm?"
"When are you planning on settling things down with Bonnie?"
The topic changed too quickly that Myles was momentarily stunned before responding," Whenever Bonnie is ready."
Freddy continued speaking," You guys have been together for so many years already. I heard from Mr. Cooke that you guys have been dating for several years. How come there hasn't been any progress yet?" For a moment, Miles didn't know how to respond, but it seemed like Freddy could see what Miles was thinking as he spoke up again, "Is this because of Isabel's situation with your dad?"Myles hesitated for a moment before nodding. "I didn't know at first. It wasn't until I found Aunt Isabel and wanted to surprise Bonnie that I found out. Bonnie had been resisting the idea of marriage, and we had a lot of fights about it. When Aunt Isabel came back, we almost broke up."
Myles didn't hide anything from Freddy about his relationship with Bonnie. He told him everything in detail.
After listening to Myles' story, Freddy sighed softly and said, "You shouldn't have had to go through all this. We as elders should have done better."
Myles didn't know how to respond to Freddy's words.
The dead are gone, and talking about it now seems pointless.
"It's all in the past," Myles finally managed to say after a long pause.
Freddy didn't say anything more, but nodded gently in agreement. "Yes, it's all in the past now. So you and Bonnie need to be good together and set things straight soon; otherwise you'll be thirty before you know it."
Myles coughed lightly and said, "We still have a few years left."
"Time flies by quickly," Freddy replied with a smile on his face." Once you get married and have children, I'll finally have something else to do!"
After listening for so long, Myles finally caught onto what Freddy was trying to say: he wanted them both to hurry up and get married and start having kids!
"Kids? Isn't that too early?" Mylesthought back to when he had just fought Bonnie over the same issue of having children, andifhe mentionedit againin front ofher, she would probably kill him!
"Early? She's already twenty-five or six! How can that be early? Are you planning on waiting until your forties or fifties?" asked Freddy incredulously.
Myles couldn't come up with an answer right away, and simply mumbled something unintelligible under his breath.
"Is Bonnie not willing?" Freddy asked curiously when he saw Myleswas hesitantto speakupaboutit.
Myles muttered twice but couldn't explain why she was against having kids yet. Freddysensed there was more going on than meets the eye."I'm not just going to talk to you about this. I'm going to talk to Bonnie as well," said Freddie firmly.
Upon hearing this, Myles nodded silently.
Well, Freddy was forced to do it, too. He's probably a little more open-minded himself.
Bonnie and Myles can have kids whenever they want, and it's okay to let things happen.
But then his father gave him a task that he, as a son, had to fulfill.
Now that he had talked to Myles, it was time to deal with Bonnie. So after wandering around the Old Street with Myles, Freddy had Myles drop him off at Bonnie's studio.
Myles stood by the car and glanced across the street. "Uncle, isn't this a bit too rushed?"
Freddy looked at him and said, "Ask yourself honestly if you're anxious or not."
Myles didn't know what to say.
"You go," Freddy said as he turned towards Bonnie's studio.
Myles stood by the car for a while before finally getting in and driving away quickly. He knew Bonnie well enough to know that if she saw him there when Freddy arrived, she would think he had sent Freddy to talk to her.
So he left before she could come out.
As expected, just minutes after Freddy went into the store, Bonnie came out and looked around but didn't see Myles' car anywhere. She then turned back inside.
"Dad, how did you get here? Weren't you supposed to go to Old Street with Myles?"
"We did go," Freddy replied smoothly. "After breakfast we split up and I wandered around for a bit before coming over here."
Bonnie nodded in understanding. "Well then, let me take you back later."
Freddy waved his hand. "I just came to look around. You go about your business. Come back home to have a stay when you are free. It's not good to live in the shop forever." Bonnie said, "Have you decided to stay?"
Although he had talked about this topic before, Freddy hadn't really decided at that time.
Now Bonnie saw Freddy and asked.
Freddy mused. "Yeah. Stay with you. Stay with your grandfather."
Bonnie was happy to hear Freddy was staying, "So stay."
Bonnie wasn't very busy today. She had already sent Linda and someone over to arrange a wedding. She would go over later this afternoon and see if there was anything that was not ready. So Bonnie sat on the couch and talked to Freddy for a long time.
"Bonnie, when are you and Myles going to get married?" As before, Freddy asked the same thing he asked Myles.
After hearing Freddy's words, Bonnie obviously gasped, "Married?"
