Chapter 611: I Cannot Ignore Them No Matter What
After hearing Yanis' words, Stella was a bit shocked. "Six children?"
Yanis nodded. "One pair of them is twins."
Stella couldn't help but sigh, but also felt some sympathy. "So now you plan to just help them like this?"
Yanis hesitated for a few seconds. "Helping them is the least I can do since their father's life was lost because of me. No matter what, I can't just ignore them."
Stella didn't say anything and simply replied, "Okay, if there's anything you need, just let me know. I'm basically free anyway."
Yanis smiled and said, "Alright then, I'll call on you if there's a need."
After chatting with Stella by the car for a while and watching Bonnie and Mia finish their food, Yanis finally called out to the two girls.
"Going back now?" Bonnie hadn't eaten these kinds of foods in quite some time, but had tried some with Mia today; she even thought they tasted pretty good and was feeling slightly stuffed right now. Yanis glanced at her before replying: "Yeah, we're going back now; I'll drop Mia off where she's staying first. Did Myles already go over?"
Bonnie nodded: "He went over as soon as he got your message."
Yanis nodded his head before turning to look at Stella: "Then we'll head back first; you go ahead with your own business."
Stella replied obediently: "Drive slowly."
By the time Yanis dropped Bonnie off at Myles' place according to the address given earlier that day, it had already become dark outside.
"What did you guys do? Why did it take so long for y'all to come back?" As soon as Myles saw both of them, he rushed up like he'd seen his savior.
Bonnie looked at him suspiciously: "What happened? You look like someone bullied ya?"
Myles sighed heavily before saying: "Those two brothers got into a fight for no reason; it took me forever just to calm things down between 'em! Now both are sitting in my living room without saying anything all afternoon long they haven't even eaten yet! That little girl is also sitting quietly on one side without moving or talking either... it's really difficult for me!"
Myles vented out all his grievances while pulling Bonnie aside.
After listening to Myles' words, Yanis raised an eyebrow before looking towards him again and asked, "Did they fight?"
Myles nodded solemnly, "They fought pretty hard too - it took everything out of me trying to separate 'em! If nobody else were around here, then those two could've easily sent each other straight to the hospital!"
As Yanis listened, she furrowed her brow tightly together before stepping inside through the doorframe.
Bonnie told Myles that they should unload everything from their car first, and then she took Mia along with her inside afterwards too.
The three siblings sat silently in different corners of the living room, not speaking to each other whatsoever. When they heard movement, they all looked up towards the door and saw Yanis. Natasha was the first to call out, "Yanis, Bonnie." Yanis responded and looked towards Natasha, asking, "What's going on?" Natasha glanced at Taylor and Payne but didn't say anything. Taylor and Payne both lowered their heads in silence when Yanis asked about the situation.
Yanis walked over to Taylor and Payne and asked them why they had fought. Taylor was even colder than usual, standing silently by the side with a pair of icy eyes that showed he was still angry. Payne appeared more serious than usual as he stood straight before saying, "It's nothing really, we were just messing around."
After hearing this explanation from Payne, Taylor gave him a quick glance but remained silent. Seeing that neither of them wanted to say more about it, Yanis decided not to press any further, since it wasn't her place to interfere in their brotherly affairs.
"I bought some household items for you guys," she said instead. "Try them out later."
Taylor finally spoke up with a simple thank you as Payne nodded.
Yanis patted both of their heads before turning to face Myles, who had just come in carrying bags full of supplies.
"Put everything over here," she instructed him, before adding: "I'll help sort everything out for them."
Myles sat down on the sofa after unloading all the supplies from his car and said, "Maybe I should replace someone who can help take care of these kids? They need someone who can cook for them three times a day as well as keep things clean around here. At this age, they should be at school, and staying at home is not such a thing."
He then turned towards Mia with concern written all over his face: "Especially this little one."
The Miller family were actually quite intelligent students; except Mitch, who dropped out after failing high school exams. Family issues such as Mia's father passing away followed by Marnon falling ill, made it difficult for everyone else to continue attending classes regularly.
However, Yanis knew that there wasn't much anyone could do under these circumstances, so she simply asked Myles if he knew anyone who could help take care of it.
Myles thought for a moment. "Sure, I can ask around for you."
Yanis nodded. "Great, I'll treat you to a meal then."
Just as Myles was about to agree, he caught Bonnie's gaze and cleared his throat. "Actually, it's no big deal. I can handle it myself."
Yanis didn't expose Myles' attempt to save face in front of Bonnie and simply said, "Let me know if you replace anything out."
Myles snapped his fingers. "No problem."
Yanis distributed clothes and other items he had bought among the group and told them to try them on. If they didn't fit well, they could exchange them later.
He had noticed that when they arrived in Manches City, they had only one set of clothes each plus one spare outfit for washing purposes.
The weather was starting to warm up here, so their thick clothing wasn't necessary anymore.
Thanks to Bonnie's help in sizing everyone up beforehand, all the clothes fit well enough.
After distributing everything and preparing a table full of food for everyone to share dinner together, Yanis asked Myles and Bonnie to go back first, while she stayed and waited for Mitch's return. She had already sent Mitch their address earlier.
Mitch returned at eight o'clock that night after work.
Upon entering the apartment door, Mitch stood there stunned for quite some time before finally snapping out of it. He looked over at Yanis sitting on the couch, "Yanis?"
Yanis replied with a greeting as he stood up, "Why are you getting off work so late? What kind of job did you get?"
Mitch was about to say that Zane arranged him a job but remembered Albi's request not to reveal anything yet. So instead, Mitch lied, "I'm working as a waiter at a restaurant. There were more customers than usual tonight, so I worked overtime. But since today is my first day, the boss let me leave early. I might have later shifts from now on."
After finishing his explanation, Mitch scanned around living room before speaking again. Mia ran over from one side and jumped into Mitch's arms,"Brother, Taylor and Payne got into fight today."
Upon hearing Mia's words, Mitch furrowed his eyebrows slightly, "Why did they fight?"
Mia shook her head, "We went outside with Yanis. They fought by themselves inside. You should ask Natasha."
