Chapter 621: The Griffiths Family's Belated Apology

Yanis smiled, "Are you saying that like he came specifically to replace me?"

Ivan nodded, "Actually, yes. Do you need more time to think about it?"

Yanis hesitated for a few seconds before nodding, "Okay, I'll think about it some more."

Mila spoke up, "Let's go inside and chat. This isn't the place to talk."

Ivan agreed and turned to Yanis. He spoke softly, "Go inside first. You can take your time thinking about it. Darin has more patience than you might expect, so there's no need to rush into giving him an answer right away. Take your time and reply when you're ready."

Yet Yanis still felt that she needed to give Darin a suitable response as soon as possible, as they had been discussing this since the beginning of the year, but things fell through due to unforeseen circumstances.

Now that they were bringing up this topic again, Yanis naturally wanted to consider her options carefully before giving Darin an appropriate reply.

Libby was quite talkative at the dinner table and could easily bring up various interesting topics.

Perhaps because of what Libby had said in the car earlier, which allowed Yanis some time to adjust herself accordingly; she only spoke when asked questions while remaining quiet most of the other times. Halfway through their meal Bonnie called; Yanis glanced at her phone display then greeted everyone before stepping outside into another room where she answered Bonnie's call.

"Bonnie?"

"Are you still in the hospital?" Bonnie must have finished her work by now and returned back home or studio already. "Nope," replied Yanis, "I'm outside with Ivan and his friends."

Bonnie was slightly taken aback,"How did Ivan end up going out with y'all, just the two of you, or is Mila also there?"

"There are others besides them two. I asked Myles for help replaceing schools, but he ended up introducing me to one of Mila's friend's brother, so we all decided on having dinner together." Upon hearing this Bonnie sighed in amazement," Manches City is really small after all."

Yanis asked, "Have you eaten yet? Do want me bring something over when I return?"

"No thanks," replied Bonnie, after pausing briefly, she continued asking, "When will be able come back?"

Yanis held her hand aloft checking the time before replying, "It should be around an hour or so."Bonnie said, "I'll go back to Cooke's Mansion and come back around 8 p. m." Yanis responded, "Okay."

After hanging up the phone, Yanis was about to return to the private room when her phone rang again. This time it was Zane calling.

Yanis answered the phone, "Hello?"

"Are you finished over there?" Zane asked.

"Where?" Yanis didn't quite understand.

Zane's voice came through the phone, "I saw you guys go in earlier, so I didn't say hi. I drank a little and Albi has driven the car away. There's something going on at home. If you drive later, can you give me a ride?"

It sounded reasonable enough that Yanis had no reason to refuse.

"Are you also at Banyan Garden?" Yanis asked.

Zane replied with an affirmative sound, "Sixth floor, having dinner with clients. It should be ending soon."

Yanis said, "Then I'll wait for you at the entrance or..."

"If you haven't finished your business yet, then do your own thing, and I'll wait for you downstairs," Zane interrupted before Yanis could finish speaking.

Yanis responded with an affirmative sound again,"Okay."

Upstairs by the corridor window stood Albi, who thought to himself: What is going on at home that I don't know about?

Just as Albi was thinking about how recently, whenever Zane spoke, it always seemed like he had some kind of story to tell; Zane turned his head towards him.

Meeting eyes with Zane made Albi startled involuntarily,"Mr. Lawrence?"

"You heard it?"

Albi nodded in response, "Yes Mr. Lawrence, I have something urgent happening at home, so I'm leaving first."

After saying that, Albi lifted his foot and wanted to leave, but was stopped by Zane who called out after him, "Take the stairs."

Albi hesitated before responding obediently,"... okay."

Zane stayed put until after watching Alibi leave before entering one of the private rooms where Vincent and Javon were seated inside.

Since their last incident, Vincent privately made several calls to apologize properly but all attempts were rejected by Zane. Presumably thinking he couldn't do anything by himself, Javon took a thick-skinned approach and called old Lawrence directly instead. After much hesitation, the old man finally talked things out with Zane. After all, the relationship between their families was not bad before. The problem this time was caused just by Lana and Javon.

Old Lawrence thought that they should give the other party a chance to apologize, and whether he forgave them or not was another matter.

That was why Zane came over tonight at Vincent's invitation.

The Griffiths suffered a lot from last time's incident and now almost entirely relied on Vincent to support their large family. It was impossible for Griffiths Group to make a comeback.

But Vincent still wanted Javon to apologize to Zane.

Vincent originally wanted Yanis to come along with Zane, but Zane refused without hesitation. Either meet him alone or don't meet at all.

Naturally, Vincent chose the former option.

Vincent had just lectured Javon when he saw Zane enter. He then gestured towards Javon, as an apology should be made sincerely and expressed their attitude first before discussing anything else later on. After sitting down, Vincent poured a glass of wine for Zane himself and said: "Zane, I'm sorry about what happened earlier. Although it may seem meaningless now, we owe you an apology."

Zane listened quietly without saying anything in response while lifting his eyes slightly towards Vincent.

Vincent understood that this meant that Zane accepted their apology, even though words of forgiveness might not be granted so easily.

"Here's my toast. I'm really sorry!" said Vincent again as he raised his glass once more.

Zane hesitated for a few seconds before picking up his own glass and clinking it against Vincent's.

If it weren't for Vince being present tonight too, then perhaps there would have been no way that he would have shown up here at all,

Vincent noticed this and spoke again: "Zane, my father went too far last time because he didn't think things through properly... he regrets what happened deeply... what do you say?"
