Chapter 653 Apologize to My Wife!

After hearing Yanis' words, Anna burst out laughing. "You're really something, Miss Thompson, able to have your cake and eat it too," she said.

The woman next to Anna laughed at her words. "Okay, let's not delay her from showing off her skills in bed. It'll cost her money if we do." Anna chuckled at the comment and then leaned to one side. "Well then, I won't keep Miss Thompson from making money lying down!" "The Johnson family's education is truly the best!"

Just as Anna finished speaking, a cold voice came from behind them with a hint of anger.

Yanis looked up when he heard the familiar voice and saw Zane walking towards them. "What are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be at work?" he asked.

Zane walked up and gave Anna and the woman next to her a cold glance before pulling Yanis into his arms. "Did Yanis bump into Miss Johnson? Does she need a full-body checkup at the hospital? Maybe I can help schedule an appointment with a dentist for Miss Johnson too."

At first glance, Zane's words seemed polite enough but upon closer inspection they carried some other meaning - especially that last sentence which implied that Anna had dirty mouth.

Yanis was initially angry but after hearing Zane defend him so righteously against their insults he suppressed his laughter with a cough instead.

Anna didn't react immediately but noticed Yanis' smile couldn't be contained anymore so she realized what was going on. She said defensively: "No need for that!"

Anna wasn't stupid; she could insult Yanis all day long while keeping him underfoot but in front of Zane she knew better than to act recklessly.

So Anna decided it was time for her leave only to be stopped by someone else.

Albi received Zane's signal through his eyesight and immediately reached out his hand stopping both Anna and her companion.

Anna was stopped in place by Albi's action; looking towards Zane instinctively asking: "Mr Lawrence what does this mean?"

"My wife apologized right away after bumping into you earlier," replied Zane coldly while looking directly at Anna. He continued: "Therefore you also owe my wife an apology for what you just said or else I wouldn't mind meeting Miss Johnson in court."

Upon hearing these words from Mr Lawrence's mouth Annas face changed slightly.

The group remained tense like this without anyone moving or saying anything further..."Let's go," Yanis said, not wanting to waste any more time. He gently tugged on Zane's shirt sleeve. Zane grabbed Yanis' hand and looked coldly at Anna.

The overwhelming pressure made Anna lower her head. She quickly glanced at Yanis and apologized.

"If Miss Johnson hasn't eaten yet, I can take her out for a meal before apologizing," Zane suggested without hesitation.

Anna gritted her teeth and looked at Yanis before shouting loudly, "I'm sorry!"

Zane didn't say anything but turned to look at Yanis instead.

Yanis nodded and then turned to Zane. "Alright, let's go."

Only then did Zane lead Yanis away while Albi followed closely behind them.

Today, Zane had arranged to meet Finnley in the company but changed the meeting place to here later on.

"Anna, was that really Zane just now?"

Anna watched as they left and replied in a low voice, "Let's go."

"I heard they had a big fight recently. How come they're making up so soon?"

Anna sneered coldly. "In Manches City, what does Zane represent? You don't know that? How could Yanis let such a high-quality man slip away?"

The woman sighed in agreement. "He can make money even while lying down."

Anna hooked the corner of her lips coldly but didn't say anything else about it.

"Oh yeah Anna, how are things going with Iris? Any progress yet?"

At the mention of Iris' name, Anna's expression grew colder still. "Lately he has been avoiding me deliberately as if he were hiding from me."

"But isn't he always in Manches City? Last time I heard Dangelo saying that Iris was hanging out with some girl in Antique City."

When she heard this news from the woman she was talking with earlier on, Anna furrowed her brows slightly. "With some girl?"

The woman nodded affirmatively. "You wait for a moment, they also posted pictures of them together on our group chat. At that time I even asked you to take a look, but you ignored me."

She took out her phone quickly and found the photo Dangelo posted earlier on their group chat, showing it to Anna immediately after replaceing it. "Here you go, have a look."

As soon as she saw the photo on the woman's phone screen, Anna reached over and took hold of it herself. "This girl... seems like she is Zanes' sister?"Anna had only seen Anika once before, but it was just a passing glance since they didn't know each other.

"Zane's sister? Zane has a sister?"

Anna nodded and handed her phone to the woman. "Let's go to Antique City later."

"You're going to catch..." The woman stopped herself mid-sentence. "You really want to go?"

"I want to check it out. Antique City doesn't belong to the Duncan family or the Lawrence family, so why can't I go?"

"Well, I guess..." The woman wanted to say something else but held back. "Let's go then."

Meanwhile, Yanis and Zane entered Banyan Garden together.

"How did you end up here?" Yanis asked in a low voice.

"I made plans with someone and happened to be in this area," Zane replied.

"Someone invited you here?" Yanis raised an eyebrow suspiciously.

Zane nodded. "Has Ivan not arrived yet?"

Upon hearing that question, Yanis remembered his own purpose for coming here. "Should I head up first then?"

Zane agreed with a nod. "I'll send you back later; let Albi drive your car."

Yanis didn't refuse his offer and said okay as he headed upstairs where Ivan and Darin were already seated inside the private room waiting for him.

"Sorry about earlier; something came up," Yanis apologized as he took his seat at the table while Ivan pulled out his chair for him like a gentleman would do for a lady.

"We saw it all happen - Mr. Lawrence being your knight in shining armor," Ivan teased him playfully.

Yanis froze upon hearing those words from Ivan before looking at him directly asking: "You guys... saw everything?"

Ivan chuckled softly before telling him: "Just take your seat first."

Yanis sat down on his chair after hesitating briefly.

Darin joined in on teasing too by saying: "We were planning on coming over too but we saw Mr. Lawrence beat us there instead! We witnessed firsthand how he saved you!"

Yanis coughed lightly trying not show any embarrassment while replying: "I never expected him of all people would come here."

Ivan could sense what was going through Yanis' mind without even asking anything further from him so he decided not pry into things that weren't meant for them by changing topic instead saying: "Mr. Lawrence made plans with someone else right?"

Yanissimply nodded without giving away any details of who exactly that person might be.

"Alright then," Ivan smiled widely."Let's order some food now shall we? We can eat our fill while chatting away."

After finishing their orders, Ivan reminded Darin gently :"Order less next time; we won't be able finish everything if there's too much food."
