After Ivan and Albi left, Yanis turned to Zane who was standing beside him and asked, "Do you smell vinegar?" Zane tightened his grip on Yanis' hand at the sound of his voice. "No."

Yanis chuckled lightly. "Maybe I smelled it wrong."

Zane didn't dwell on the topic but instead led Yanis towards the car while asking, "Did everything get sorted out?"

Yanis nodded. "I might have to make a few more trips to M Country in the future, but we'll still be getting our supplies from Ivan's side for now."

Zane had no objections to Yanis' plan.

Before this, Yanis had hidden all of his sharp edges and stayed by Zane's side with only him in mind.

In the end, he hurt him badly.

Now after going through so much together, all he wanted was for Yanis to be by his side.

Nothing else mattered.

He didn't want her to hide behind him like she used to either.

Compared to before, he preferred seeing her shine brightly at her peak now.

After telling Zane about his plans for their business operations in M Country, Yanis thought that Zane might object due to frequent travels there. However, after hearing everything out completely, Zanedidn't have any objections and even agreed with it wholeheartedly.

"You don't have any objections?"

Yaniscouldn't help but ask him.

Zaneshookhis head, "No, I trust your plan. Just let me know if you need my help."

"Okay," said Yanisas she nodded along.

Every little change that happened with Zanewas noticed by Yannis especially during these past few days where every change seemed relatedtoher.

She felt that this kind of life would be good enough for them moving forward - simpleand stable is what truly matters in life.

However, Zanedidneedto go backtothe company laterthat afternoonsohe planned on dropping off Yannis firstattheir studio before heading over himself. But just as they started driving, the phone rang from an unknown number which made Zhene hesitate before answering it. A stranger's voice came through onthe other end sounding quite urgent as they introduced themselves as a friendof Anika's."Is this Zane? I'm a friend of Anika's," they said directly upon answering. Zanelistened intentlybefore asking, "Where is Anika?"When Zane raised his fist for the third time, Yanis stepped forward and stood between them. Zane hesitated and lowered his fist when he saw Yanis, but he gave Iris a cold stare. "If anything happens to her, I won't let you off the hook!"

Iris wiped away the blood from her mouth with her hand. "I'm sorry. I didn't expect things to turn out like this."

"Anna was causing trouble for Yanis at Banyan Garden earlier today, and then she went after Anika and Iris because of you!"

When Iris heard what Zane said, she looked at Yanis. "Anna was giving you a hard time?"

Yanis shook his head. "I'm fine."

Just as Iris was about to say something else, the door of the operating room suddenly opened. "Who is Anika's family member? Come sign here." Zane gave Iris one last cold look before stepping forward. "That's me."

"The patient has a broken left foot bone and concussion," said the doctor as he handed Zane a clipboard to sign on. "But there is also excessive bleeding in her thigh due to deep puncture wounds that need immediate attention."

Zane signed without hesitation before saying thank you.

The doctor nodded before turning back into the operating room.

Iris overheard what happened but remained silent with an even paler face than before.

The surgery took longer than expected - three or four hours until finally they opened up again: "She's out of danger now; we'll take her up to recovery soon."

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing that Anika was safe.

Zane had not informed anyone at Lawrence Mansion about what happened to Anika but Dylan and Rachel showed up anyway in no time after hearing about it elsewhere.

Their sudden appearance surprised Yanis somewhat but considering Phoebe's actions during their last encounter at Lawrence Mansion made him think otherwise too. Anika remained unconscious due to anesthesia until two or three hours later when she finally woke up.

"Anika?" whispered Yanis when he saw that she had regained consciousness.

Anika moved her fingers slightly since speaking wasn't easy with an oxygen mask on.

Yanis leaned closer towards her asking softly: "Does it hurt?"

Anika blinked once then looked around briefly.

Understanding what Anika meant by looking around like that, Yanis whispered again: "Your brother and Iris are outside; don't worry about them."
