Chapter 669: Yanis, I Haven't Done Anything to Offend You

When Yanis heard Zane's words, she looked at him with confusion and didn't quite understand the meaning behind them. After meeting her gaze, Zane added, "Yanis, I haven't done anything to hurt you." This time Yanis began to realize what he was referring to. She remembered the several phone calls she had made to Zane earlier today when she found out Anika was missing. "Where were you this afternoon?" she asked.

"I was in West City with Finnley," he replied.

"And did anything happen after that?"

Zane rubbed his palm and proceeded to tell Yanis everything that happened in West City that afternoon - including how Kellan tricked him into being trapped in a hotel room.

After listening intently to Zane's story, Yanis didn't immediately respond or say anything. The two of them just sat quietly in the car without speaking for some time until finally Yanis broke the silence by saying, "Let's go home."

Upon hearing her words, Zane felt a pang of anxiety and instinctively reached out for her hand. "Yanis, I really didn't... I'm sure," he said.

He knew firsthand what it felt like when things went wrong; whether or not he could be trusted was something only he knew for sure. Yanis simply murmured an agreement before repeating herself: "Let's go home."

Zane watched as she remained calm despite everything they'd been through together. He wanted desperately to explain himself further but couldn't replace the right words; instead he let go of her hand and whispered softly: "Okay then... let's head back home."

As they drove towards D-king Castle neither one spoke much along the way; both lost deep in thought about what had transpired between them earlier that day...

When they arrived at their destination however things changed dramatically - once again it seemed as though nothing else mattered except replaceing Anika safe and sound!

Before turning off the engine on their car though Yanis turned towards Zane who had been watching her all this while: "What if it were me? Would you believe me?"

Her voice barely above a whisper yet still full of emotion as if asking him something very important indeed!

At first taken aback by this question from his girlfriend there beside him now looking so vulnerable yet strong at once - almost like an angel come down from heaven itself! - but then quickly regained composure enough reply confidently:

"Of course I would trust you," came his response without hesitation whatsoever which seemed enough reassurance for both parties involved here today...

And with those final words spoken between them before heading inside D-king Castle together where hopefully good news awaited regarding Anika's whereabouts! Yanis had a happy expression on his face as he got out of the car and walked straight inside. Zane, however, was still uneasy despite getting out of the car several times to say something to Yanis. He felt that no matter how much he said without any actual situation, it would be useless.

After hesitating for a long time, Zane decided not to speak up.

It wasn't until early morning when Iris sent Yanis a message saying that Anika was okay and would soon be taken to the hospital.

Yanis immediately called back after receiving Iris's text message. However, there was no answer from Iris's end even after waiting for a long time.

Yanis tried calling twice but got the same result both times. On the other hand, Zane received Kellan's call saying that Anika had been safely taken to the hospital.

Since it was late at night and didn't want Yanis to worry more than necessary, Zane decided to go see Anika at the hospital himself. Of course, Yanis wouldn't stay alone at home and went with him instead. When they arrived in haste at the hospital just as nurses were finishing treating Anika's wounds on her arm which were deep enough even though wrapped in gauze with faint red bloodstains visible underneath it all over her arm.

"Anika!" Yanis stepped forward quickly and took a look at her before asking if she had any other injuries besides those on her arms?

Anika only shook her head gently without speaking up or changing expressions throughout their conversation regardless of what questions Yanis asked; she either nodded or shook her head in response like frozen solid ice sculpture-like facial expression remained unchanged throughout their conversation

Yanis' face stiffened slightly due to Anika's unchanging expression while asking if she saw Iris? After hearing this question from Yanishowever suddenly pushed away from nurse who was helping with wound care then retreated backward slightly while clutching onto herself tightly like someone scared out of their wits

The remaining wound on her arm started bleeding again due to sudden movement causing red blood droplets falling onto white bed sheets creating large patches of red color everywhere around them "Anika!" Although wanting desperately help comforted by touching or holding hands but avoided by pushing him away while looking terrified into his eyes full of fear which made him realize how guarded she became towards everyone including himself during this momentary lapse where he saw through all defenses put up around herself since incident happened

Zane noticed Anikas reaction too so frowned slightly before tentatively reaching out his hand towards hers "Anika give me your hand."

Still full of fear-filled eyes staring intently between both men present in front of them making sure they don't try anything funnyThe nurse stood on the side, watching with concern. "You guys should stop the bleeding first," she said.

Anika's eyes were filled with fear and caution.

"Anika, it's me, your brother. Look at me," Zane slowly approached her. "Can you give me your hand?"

Zane spoke in a low voice as if he didn't want to startle Anika.

Yanis couldn't help but recall Anika's previous situation when he saw Zane's actions.

He hesitated for a moment before pulling at Zane's sleeve.

Zane turned to look at Yanis.

Yanis glanced at Anika before lowering his voice so that only they could hear him. "Should we call Dr. Wood over?"

When Zane heard Yanis' words, his brow furrowed slightly as he thought for a few seconds before handing his phone to Yanis. "You go outside and call Dr. Wood while I help Anika treat her wound." Yanis nodded and took the phone from him before leaving the room.

After Yanis left, Zane comforted Anika in a gentle tone until she finally handed over her injured hand to him.

Zane signaled for the nurse to quickly treat Anika's wound while also trying to inquire about her condition in a probing manner.

However, no matter what he said, Anika remained silent and just stared straight ahead with less caution in her eyes than before.

It was clear that this was an old problem that had resurfaced again and was even more severe than before.

Initially intending to call Dr. Wood himself, Yanis realized too late that it was already too late into the night, and instead sent an SMS message instead of calling directly.

When Yanis entered again, Zane stood up and asked, "Did you get through?"

Shaking her head, Yanish replied,"Dr. Wood is already resting by now. I'll have to wait till morning, but I've sent an SMS."

Upon hearing this, Zanes nodded then turned towards Anikawho lay on bed."Let her rest for now."
