Chapter 723: Are You Willing to Be a Substitute?
Ahmed had walked over by now. "Yanis, don't be nervous. I just want to talk to you. If you really don't want to, it's okay. You..."
"Don't come any closer!" Yanis took two steps back and looked at Ahmed warily. "If I yell right now, someone outside will hear us. Have you thought about the consequences? And if you actually do something, Zane won't let it go."
After hearing Yanis' words, Ahmed's smile disappeared from his face. "Yanis, do you really think Zane loves you? He used to have Neve on a pedestal in his heart. Do you think a man would forget about someone he once held so dear because of time? You're naive and foolish."
"This is between me and Zane. It has nothing to do with you," Yanis frowned at Ahmed.
Ahmed chuckled lightly. "Yanis, you don?? t have to descend to such level. Zane doesn't understand what love or true feelings are anyway. He just sees you as a replacement for Neve. Are you willing to be someone else's substitute?"
Yanis didn't respond to Ahmed's words and said instead: "Leave right now and I'll pretend like nothing happened today."
"If that's how uncooperative you're going to be," Ahmed said coldly after seeing that Yanis wasn?? t listening to him anymore, "then don?? t blame me."
After saying this, Ahmed turned towards Fukuma and scolded him sternly: "What are you waiting for?"
Fukuma looked around frantically before turning back towards Yanis.
Taking a deep breath, Yanis turned towards Fukuma again: "Do you want freedom?"
Fukuma was silent for a moment after hearing this but then nodded slowly: "Yes."
"Then don't do anything stupid. Don?? t listen to the words of a man who sees only another person when he looks at you. Otherwise, you?? II only end up ruining your entire life."
"Fukuma! Don?? t forget your parents?? situation right now," Ahmad?? s voice sounded coldly from beside them ."And your younger brother got into fights recently too. If I didn?? t help out, he?? d probably already been expelled by now."
Fukuma tensed up instantly upon hearing Ahmed's words. "Ahmed, did you go to them again?"
Ahmed walked step by step towards Yanis. "So you better think carefully, whether you want to help me or stand against me. You have to make a decision."
"Ahmed!" Yanis shouted in a deep voice as Ahmed approached him. "I can promise you what you want, but... can we not involve a third person? I don't like having someone else around."
A smile crept onto Ahmed's lips at Yanis' words. "Do you really mean it? You're not lying to me? Or do you have other intentions?"
"You hold Fukuma's weakness in your hands," Yanis calmly analyzed as he looked at Ahmed. "She loves you so much, do you think she would side with me?" When Ahmed heard this, he glanced at Fukuma's face.
After meeting Ahmed's gaze, Fukuma nodded her head and said: "I promise... promise not to go too far away from here and stay near the door without peeking." Ahmed knew what kind of person Fukuma was and knew that she wouldn't betray him for Yanis since her parents were still under his control.
Even if Fukuma didn't consider herself first, she had to consider her parents and younger brother.
With these thoughts in mind and time running out quickly, Ahmad agreed with Yanis' request.
Looking at Fukuma he said: "Go outside and wait near the door; don?? t wander off or let anyone get close."
Fukuma nodded before turning around to leave.
As she walked towards the door, Fukuma turned back for one last glance at Yanis who subtly nodded her head in response. Earlier when they were fighting over Yani?? s phone, Fukuma whispered something very softly: "I was forced into this."
That?? s why Yani was betting on the fact that Fukuma wasn?? t someone who would watch idly while others suffered.
After leaving, Yanis walked towards Ahmad saying, "They are all downstairs now; just cooperate with me, and we will be done soon enough." Yanis listened intently as Ahmad spoke before bursting out laughing, "Isn't it inappropriate for a man like yourself to talk like that?"
Ahmad paused briefly before joining in on the laughter,"Then shall we change to another place?"
Yanis looked back at him, "Do you think I can still leave with you after going down there now?"
Ahmed hesitated for a moment before walking up to Yanis. "You're right, this may be our last chance," he said.
Ahmed looked at Yanis and continued, "I've been thinking that you and I are the perfect match all along. It's just that back then, you were so aloof and didn't seem to care about anyone. I never thought you would fall for someone like Zane. It really shocked me."
"Ahmed, you know even if something happens between us today, it won't lead to anything good for you in the future," Yanis replied.
"It doesn't matter. I just want..." Ahmed trailed off as he reached out his hand to touch Yanis' face, but she subtly avoided his touch.
Ahmed's hand remained suspended in mid-air as Yanis pursed her lips and said, "I'm not used to this."
"It's okay; you'll get used to it eventually," Ahmed replied with a smile as he placed his hand on her shoulder.
This time around, Yanis didn't avoid him.
She mentally calculated how long it would take from when Fukuma left the room until she returned: at least three minutes from leaving the building down to the field where they were standing; four or five minutes if Fukuma couldn't run due to being pregnant.
"Why don't we close the door?" Ahmed suggested. "There aren't many people around at this hour anyway; leaving it unlocked adds more excitement."
Yanis suppressed her nausea and agreed with a nod of her head saying: "You're right. Ahmed knows how to have fun."
"I love it when you call me Ahmed," he grinned mischievously while sweat dripped down his body from playing basketball earlier on - causing an unpleasant smell which made Yanis wrinkle her nose in disgust but she stood still without moving away from him.
As Ahmed saw that there was no resistance coming from Yanis towards him anymore, he became bolder with his actions towards her.
Yanis placed both hands on the table edge, slowly moving them sideways without attracting attention towards herself.
The dictionary which Fukuma had thrown earlier was within reach now.
It hadn?? t hurt much when Fukuma hit her head because she had missed by inches intentionally - so there wasn?? t any pain involved whatsoever. Fukuma didn't really try to knock her out.
"Yanis... I really like you..." Ahmed began again only for Yanis hitting him hard over his head using the dictionary. Then she pushed him away while running out of the room quickly through the open door leading outside.
